Marlins sign Yimi Garcia

decent strikeout numbers and good control, but WOOOOFFFF dude gets hit hard and does not prevent runs. Got super lucky last season with a .171 BABIP. If balls had landed more fairly against him, he would have posted an ERA north of 5.

ok, bad signing …

While generally true, I do suspect his low BABIP might be more sustainable than for most relievers, given his .257 xwOBA against (in the best 5% in the league). A .171 BABIP is still probably low, but .250? Maybe.

That's encouraging. Could be a mid-4 ERA guy with a .250 BABIP, which is fine because his K/BB will allow him to avoid big innings. Solid 7th inning guy/6th inning bridge, but Donny will probably use him to close or something.

There are only two numbers between those. 3 and 4. Come on man, this is elementary school stuff.

Jackson, there are so many more numbers. Infinite numbers, even. What if Yimi signs for $2,789,456.13? That;s not 3 or 4, but it's between 2 and 5.

YOU JUST GOT MATH'D.

I hope @Michael is proud.

I am proud.

He definitely got a big league deal, probably south of 5, north of 2.

That's risky.

Bullpen is getting crowded with Sharp. They are going to move someone. Maybe Brice. Or Steck might not be healthy for the 60 day DL.

40-man is full, but there are guys on there that are completely insignificant to Major League Baseball™ team and would be easy to take off the roster.

$2,789,456.13 is way higher than 5. Maybe if it was $2.78945613 then it could work. Hell, we can even round it up to a clean $2.79. Although, I doubt anyone would sign with a team like the Marlins for that low. Maybe a contending team like the Yankees, but not the Fish....

Why ? medical issues !?

He may not have done or completed his physical yet plus the team has to clear a roster spot for him and that hasn't been done yet. Sometimes deals are leaked days before they become official especially when it's not a major signing. I wouldn't worry though, this doesn't necessarily mean anything bad.

every time i hear this dude's first name I'll be reminded of all the scenes in The Exorcist where Father Karras' mother was talking to him. Cool.
