Yeah we suck at situational hitting but once again a potential late rally is taken away by an umpire.

Why do umpires hate us?

You hate to blame the umps as it comes off as an excuse and there of course are other factors involved but man if you watch these games it's very clear that this shit umps make a huge difference in the game and that's not right.

I never thought I'd be so ready for roboumps as I am now. 

Well, one positive I got from tonight was we hit 2 HRs and actually scored against a lefty, and the same lefty that helped to shut us out last week. Unfortunately, the game was heavily affected by the ump. 😕

If he called that 3-2 pitch to Kiermaier a strike, we wouldn't care if he calls that same one to Berti. It would at least be consistent.

If umpires make vindictive decisions on balls and strikes they should be fired immediately. There is far too much money on the line to tolerate that crap.

At this point I kind of want the team to fall out of it and focus on next year. Make the playoffs in a regular year instead of limping in and then getting bounced by the Dodgers or Braves in the first round. No one is going to give any more respect to the 1st round losers who only got in because of the expanded play offs.

How can you possibly say this? Just making the playoffs would be a massive accomplishment for this team considering it's been 17 years and considering we lost 100 games the last 2 seasons after another fanbase crushing firesale! Maybe it wouldn't mean shit for plenty of other teams but even a first round loss would change the narrative for this franchise. It would be the perfect way to tell everyone that things are improving in Miami especially knowing that this team is clearly on a rise and not at it's peak or on a decline. "We made the playoffs 3 years into a fire sale with our future stars still coming" would be a wonderful message to the fanbase.

Ugh, that's the problem when you have people in charge of things who don't have many restrictions or really have to answer to anyone. The whole "no arguing balls and strikes" and not being able to review bad calls at the plate, probably goes to some umps heads I would imagine. And instead of having an impartial judge of the literal strike zone, in a few cases you have some umps out there feeling all powerful and untouchable and some are so thin skinned that if you even look at them in what they think is not a nice way, they will take it personally and can throw you out of the game at any moment, or take out their grudge on their calling of balls and strikes. It's pretty sad, any time there is a human involved you're also dealing with umps egos either big or small. Probably the best reason for eventually having robot umps that will just call a ball or strike if it's in the zone or not. And not having to worry about offending any robots or dealing with big ego robots. (At least I hope not.) 😂

 

There's this video on YouTube with one Dodgers player(Justin Turner I think) who got thrown out for waving at the ump when the ump looked in the dugout and then he went crazy and stormed the field. 😅

 

P.S. I found a video of the same Ump from tonight's game throwing out a batter for arguing a strike out. Looks like he definitely doesn't like people questioning his authority. I'm surprised he didn't eject Miguel Rojas. 😂

Yeah, we all the great fans and no matter we made the playoffs or not we all played the meaningful games this season and it's the most important to a team that losing for so long time, I believe the next off-season would be a very interesting one !!!

Also getting bounced by the Dodgers with the 8th seed this year is not more of an accomplishment than not making the playoffs with the 8th best record in a normal season.

So far in the second half of the season we are 1-2.

 

But we have 27 games remaining, a lot can happen. All we need is a nice 5 game winning streak and the whole picture looks a lot different.

 

If only things were that easy.. 😅

Ump actually called a pretty solid game until the last inning or so and then he just said ehhh it's florida teams..who give a shit. 

That last at bat shows how zeroed in Berti is right now. He is seeing everything so well right now.  Hope BA can stop swinging at everything and start hitting again soon.  The team seems to go as he goes.  He's really been swinging and missing a lot lately and it seems to have coincided with this cold streak for the offense.
