It has gotten better the last year or so, but it alone isn’t good enough with his horrendous fastball. It’s an avg pitch at best. He needs both pitches to even have a chance

Him throwing the change more, I believe, would make the fastball more effective by itself.

I could be wrong! I don't think he's "good to great" but certainly better than ... this.

His changeup is an average pitch. His fastball is well below average. So yes, throwing the changeup more would help, but it’s a moot point if all he has going is an avg secondary and a well below avg fastball. He needs that slider to even have a shot to get big league guys out consistently. 

 

He’s walking a fine line with his stuff as a starter. He needs to be in the pen (I’m sure we all agree on this) 

Not sure how Ohtani is just a "good" player. It makes you sound really bitter for some reason. Last season was historical and he's clearly an amazing talent. I'm not anointing him the greatest of all time but just saying he's "good" is pretty dumb imo

I'm just shocked to find someone who thinks Ohtani is JUST a good player.  

Ohtani is a special player. Anyone arguing otherwise is either ignorant or extremely poor at evaluating baseball talent
