She still got her top target from the Twins. If it ended up being Pablo for Kepler then yea the Twins were able to win by keeping Arraez but she wanted Arraez and she got him. And I thought we were complimenting Kim for getting Cueto before it was too late as she would usually do. So much flip flopping around here. More of a case of some people will always complain or find the negative no matter what.

January 21, 20233 yr This negativity got me thinking... I don't want to give up Eury Perez but if Kim swapped Eury for Reynolds I'd shed half a tear for Eury and then be super excited because we got better at the major league level. Isn't the ultimate goal to win more MLB games? At what point do we pull out all the stops to reach that goal? Sometimes it'll take some tough moves but damnit let's get there!
January 21, 20233 yr Then sometimes I see all these complaints and I think... am I too positive? Am I supposed to just hate what they do no matter what? Maybe the Marlins did fuck this up? Maybe I'm excited for nothing and this team will still be a failure again? Why am I ever happy with the Marlins? Like... is that the way I'm supposed to be thinking? Am I not really supposed to have fun with my favorite baseball team? Who the fuck enjoys following a sport, entertainment, just to fucking hate it all the time?

Some people genuinely seem to prefer having the minor league teams do better than the big club. The farm system solely exists for trade fodder and call-ups though so it's serving it's purpose. You'll always have those homer types though that think every prospect is the next big thing and they're perfectly happy continually waiting 3 more years for them to arrive and then are curiously silent when that prospect SUCKS because they now have another "can't miss" guy they like in the minors. January 21, 20233 yr I don't post much but I am a fan of the trade. I live near Pittsburgh and have a lot of Pirate fan friends. They are sick of their prospect hoarding and trading away of young stars for more prospects. Their track record kind of matches ours. So, I am happy that we finally made a move to support the big league club and not the minors.

I would rather not do this, but I also agree about winning now. I believe Eury is on a different level as a prospect and he’s close (might even help the team this year already). I don’t care about losing Salas though to be honest.

Yeah I'd rather not lose Eury either but at the same time Reynolds would give back to this team more than Eury would for the next 2 years at least and would make this lineup MUCH better. This isn't like the stupid Cashner trade - Reynolds is legit. If they aren't trading Eury though I do hope that they call him up this season because if he's legit then he'll be fine in the bigs as the good ones always are at any age.

No he hits a guaranteed 30 per year according to kim! 3 hours ago, SilverBullet said: Holy shit. You'd think Marlins fans were tired of years of mediocrity and irrelevance. You'd think a little bit more "going for it" would be welcomed here. But I guess some people really did like having a good farm system more than winning more MLB games. Damn. 2 hours ago, SilverBullet said: To be clear there will always be things to question about any trade and logical doubts can be discussed... But the Marlins made a move to improve their major league team and did so by trading high on a player, trading from a strength to address a weakness, and after we bitched nonstop about our GM never getting anything done. I don't know how Marlins fans can't be excited about this move. This actually makes the 2023 season something to check out when one could have easily said there was no reason to watch the 2023 Marlins before this trade was made. Who doesn't want a better baseball team? Who doesn't want their team finally showing some urgency especially after our GM was seemingly asleep for 2 previous offseasons? Yeah, it's nice to see us actually making moves to improve the MAJOR LEAGUE team for a change. 2 hours ago, hovertical said: Yeah because you clearly should NEVER sign a vet starter who can chew through innings every year. Silly goose. Kim clearly should have done the trade with the Twins first so she'd have to overpay to sign Cueto and rely on him not signing elsewhere in the interim. DUH Yeah, how many years now have we not acquired that vet and desperately needed him a month into the season. Edited January 21, 20233 yr by rmc523

January 21, 20233 yr Author Pablo is an amazing human being and I will cheer for his success everywhere he goes. People saying he's a "premium" starter though and we overpaid for Arraez ... maybe a slight overpay, but if Arraez taps more into his power and keeps the hitting ability up, turns out the Twins overpaid. Pablo's career high in innings increased by 68, in one year, after dealing with arm and shoulder injuries. I'll be very surprised if he reaches 180 again this year. I might even be shocked if he reaches 160. AL Central isn't great so maybe that'll be my hedge here. lol
January 21, 20233 yr I'm willing to bet this guy never heard of the third guy before yesterday. Heck, he still doesn't know his name

January 21, 20233 yr Author And you ask most or all of the Twins fans and they probably say that they overpaid by simply giving up Arraez.
January 21, 20233 yr Author If there was anyone on the DSL team I would have been upset giving up, it may have been Jose Gerardo. 11 homers and 18 steals in 50 games. Nobody else on the Marlins DSL team had more than 4 homers. But again, it's the DSL!
