Ehh, if we're scoring more runs than the opponent 16 times in April I'm going with upgraded even if the numbers say otherwise.

Well 10 out of 16 times we just needed one more run than the other team. Again speaks volumes about the bullpen, either preventing the other team taking the lead or keeping the other team’s score low enough to give the Marlins chance to take the lead - by one run. 😂

the concern there is that the pen is off to a hot start and things have a way of evening out over the course of a full season so when that happens they're going to lose some games if they don't start plating some more runs.

Well, perhaps we’ll have a balance then, bullpen starting off hot to compensate for the offense slow start and then when the bullpen start cooling off the offense will pick up to compensate.

But also another thing to consider is that with the new pro faces we have like Matt Barnes and Puk, there is a chance that we might have a more consistent bullpen overall compared to prior years. I guess time will tell. Guys like Okert and Tanner Scott we have seen for full seasons so we kind of know what to expect. But well, let’s see. It’s been a while it feels like since we’ve had a solid bullpen. Those years of Bass, Bender, POP and Yimi had some good moments and more than enough frustrating moments. Let’s see how this goes going forward.

I think they've primarily scored runs in games where they are close which is why the offense "feels" better versus still scoring runs but getting blown out. 

I think the pen is better as well. I'm not arguing that one bit - I just don't see them being THIS good all year long is all.  The offense though?  Yeah, I could see it staying the same all season for the most part considering Avi and Stallings sucked all last year too and they continue to get significant playing time. I'm still irked Leblanc isn't up with the team as he did nothing but be a steady bat for the entirety of his time up with the fish.

Honestly I would rather have tried a full season with LeBlanc to see what he could do and if he fizzled out have Wendle take over.

To be fair, most here liked the Segura signing at the time. I don't think anyone expected him to turn into a lemon. Plenty of time for him to turn it around, too.

A few ebb and flow things here - the bullpen may come back down to earth a bit, but we may also have the starters performing better and going deeper, meaning the bullpen would be less taxed and could keep the performance up.

 

Likewise, perhaps the offense improves a bit if Avi, Segura and co remember how to hit balls.  Or, we just continue with a meh offense and hope, and wish for the signing (or trade in-season) that we all knew we needed, but Kim didn't do..

I still like the Segura signing in theory. I just wish the Marlins would have put him at SS as a replacement for Rojas instead of 3B as a replacement for BA. I think that putting LeBlanc at 3rd with Segura at SS and having Wendle as backup INF with Berti And Hampson as two super utility guys.

Burdick seems to ready.  Although his K rate is through the roof. 

MacIntoish on the other hand is hitting around .200 in AA.  Still hitting for power, though.  Not sure how that will translate at ML level.  Also, I think his D isn't really good.

Yeah, we were all pleased (i think excited is too strong a word for anyone but @TaiwanMarlins) at the Segura signing - mostly because Ng had literally done NOTHING up to that point though too so she proved she was still alive at least.

That said, I do prefer your idea much better. Leblanc earned the right to stay up in the majors after his stint last year.  He was very steady - not a star but he was almost one for this shitty offense.  I would have liked to have seen him continue to prove the naysayers wrong.  Berti is also much better when he's not an everyday player - I think we've seen that too so having him and Wendle around as our super utility guys suddenly gives us a pretty sexy bench too. 

Who knows, maybe Leblanc would have crashed and burned but would he honestly be worse than what we're running out there now?  I don't think so.

what numbers does Leblanc have currently out of curiosity?  I'd look it up my the Verizon signal sucks where I'm at currently so alas my connectivity is limited.

also i didn't know Burdick was that effing old.  yeah he's not going to do very well in the bigs if he's whiffing nearly half the time in the minors.
