December 28: Franco did not appear for questioning this morning, investigator Olga Diná Llaverías told reporters (link via Juan Arturo Recio of ESPN). According to multiple reports, Franco has also dismissed his legal team. Llaverías declined comment when asked about next steps but noted the investigations remain ongoing.

My wife is Dominican. So basically this is common practice in DR. Where the girls are taught that their you know what is a Mastercard/atm machine. This only happened to Wander Franco cause he is Wander Franco. Women lie about their age and know how to entice men. A lot of men have fallen to this. Wander is just the biggest fish ever to get caught up. He is toast sadly, unless th demands he was given are met. Extortion at its best.

Or he's just a pedophile. Weird to jump to his defense when you don't have any actual firsthand knowledge of what happened. You are speaking in absolutes like that has to be what happened.

They didnt void it technically.  They released him and I believe he was still paid last year for that contract.

He was not paid while he was suspended. Originally it was going to be a 324 game suspension, but it was reduced. He lost $37.5 million in salary from his $102-million Dodgers contract.

But if it was some sort of ruse he could at least cooperate in the whole investigation process instead of just hiding basically. 

I'm well aware that this happens. Hell, one of my few friends is listed as a sex offender in the state of Florida for stat rape. He was 19 at the the time, in a club for 18+ and this girl used a fake ID to get in. He went home with her that night and her parents came home caught him and pressed charges. Even during the trial when the fake ID was presented (she was actually 17) it didn't matter and he got convicted. He had to move out of his parents home because his two brothers were minors and it wrecked his life because nobody would hire him either because of the sex offender conviction despite the details.

 

So yeah point is it can happen to everyone. When you're a big target like a top MLB prospect though I'd think you'd at least attempt to vet people a bit better before fucking every young girlie who rubs up on you - because you KNOW golddiggers will be coming for your money and will use whatever leverage they can get. It only makes it worse by hiding too.

That situation sounds ridiculous if that's all that happened to your friend.  I'm not sure what else you're supposed to do if you "confirm" their age and it's found out they lied about it - how are you supposed to know?

 

If that's the same thing that happened with Wander, I'll also find it dumb.....but the fact he's eluding questioning raises major red flags to me.

This is upsetting. If she had a fake ID and he can say he saw that, not to mention the club let her in to their establishment, at what point is this not the guys fault? He was clearly duped and should be cleared because of that. Are guys supposed to request birth certificates at the bar too?

There's no way this is accurate legally. This would mean the one lying and doing the deceiving is less at fault than the one being deceived. Impossible.

To put this in Trevor Bauer terms, if I'm not mistaken, he's now off the hook because he was able to prove the woman was lying. Not sure why this wouldn't apply in the above mentioned scenario.

Well it's not like he asked to see her ID - they were IDing at the door so you would assume anyone in there is of age. She was ALMOST legal too. It wasn't like he was 19 and she was 13 or something nasty. Back when all of his happened there was this big push in Florida to prosecute stat rape cases and he ended up being one of the ones who got nailed

Trevor had receipts which he was finally able to release.
