The basis of the team, sure. But they had an entire off season to make upgrades and it didn't happen.  I guarantee you Kim would not have sat there and done nothing.  There was obviously a disagreement with the direction of the team and that's why Kim is gone.

Kim likely wouldn't have picked up the phone yet so Berti might still be here at least. I'll give you that much.

Bendix is taking over a franchise in need of a complete overhaul. There is little talent at the Major League level and next to nothing in the minors. Last year’s playoff run was fueled by a fluky great record in one run games. The team that Jeter and Ng built  is nowhere close to consistently contending. It’s unfortunate, but Bendix is operating as if this is the beginning of another rebuild, and you can't blame him when looking at the ZERO organizational depth.

If you’re a player and you have designated for assignment 5 times by 4 different team (twice by the Orioles) and release by your new team all in the past 16 months.

Maybe the problem is you as a baseball player.

 

However with that being said.. since the Marlins don’t really seem to have a pressing need or desire to win anytime soon. Sure, Sign him up!
