March 13, 20251 yr Why does daddy even get such goodwill to begin with? The rays were 80-82 last year with a team built mostly by him over the last decade. Can’t wait until we win 80 games in 2028!

March 13, 20251 yr The 2023 Rays were the best team in baseball until that "thing" happened and it unraveled. They won the first 13 games and at one point were 27-6.They had five seasons of winning records and playoff berths in a row. All while playing in a tough division at an economic disadvantage. Every Marlin fan would kill for those results.

Whoever is the Marlins GM or whichever ownership group is here gets tons of criticism while they are here. However when someone new comes they seem to be less popular which makes a lot us miss the previous owner and GM and reminisce for the “good ol days” 😂I can clearly remember how much people couldn’t stand Loria. Seriously I’m sure most of here remember that. However with the new ownership in place some have even gone as as saying they actually miss the Loria and Samson days.Same with Michael Hill.. he was pretty well liked overall I think but did have some people who weren’t crazy about his moves or lack of moves. Then Ng came in and some people started missing Hill. Then Bendix came and some people were happy to have a new GM at first and now Bendix makes some of us miss the Ng days. 😂The point I’m making is that I wish the Marlins could one day sell the team and get a new ownership group and GM that would make of all us pretty much universally say.. ok yeah these new guys are definitely better than all the past groups of the last 20+ years. It wouldn’t be that hard.. just have to find an owner that really wants to see the team win and have people in the seats every night instead of just viewing the team as another “business venture” in his portfolio. So they can put like a $120+ mil budget and tell their GM. “I wanna get to the playoffs this year. Make it happen!” 😂Hey I’m allowed a little bit of unrealistic wishful thinking from time to time.I suggest that Admin sell a few of his and Polly’s houses and put in a bid to buy the team one day! Then Admin can be the owner and Polly can be the new GM! Edited March 14, 20251 yr by SirFishFan

They understand this market needs a winner and are ponying up to do it (granted, MLS payrolls are much lower than MLB, so devil's advocate argument they may not have spent here either, but still....).

Sherman's outfit has just been (unbelievably) worse than Loria. It's like if you had to pick amongst all the owners in MLB when creating a franchise - Sherman would be dead last and Loria would be 2nd last basically. I sure as shit didn't think Ng was much above average, if that, and I also was NOT excited to see that smarmy fuck Bendix coming over either because i fully known Sherman wanted him here to run as cheap as possible of a team. I don't think anyone here outside of that Marlins Project dude likes Bendix or was excited to have him come over as GM. We all saw and knew what his arrival meant. One final note, saying Bendix's most important task is to maximize trade value to Sandy and to come across as "hey, that's ok because it'll give us more prospects for the future" is also just flat out disgusting at this juncture with this owner and team because that's ALL they'd done since buying the goddamn team. They just keep dumping and dumping guys the moment they start costing money. We should have already had our cheapass owner stretch with Loria and were, and are, owned so much more by MLB with a better class of owner than shit stain Sherman. If you legitimately believe he's doing ANY of this for the benefit of the future of the franchise you are an outright ding dong.

I agree. You know to be honest I wasn’t really paying attention at all back in 2017 when the Marlins were for sale. But after just spending a few minutes reading some articles from that time especially at the time when Mas had a 1.1 billion offer on the table and it looked like a done deal..Dang.. what a shame things didn’t turn out that way.I found this article from after Jeter and Sherman bought the team where Mas said that his intentions as owner were to have a $130 mil payroll, keep Stanton and hire a new GM. 😮https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/marlins-bidder-jorge-mas-reportedly-planned-to-increase-payroll-if-he-bought-team/So I think you are correct he definitely would have been the owner that would have made a real difference here. People can talk up all they want but actions speak for themselves.. the fact that Inter Miami has signed players like Messi and Luis Suarez definitely shows the ownership actually wants to win and to put an entertaining product on the field.I have a feeling that had the Mas bros become the Marlins owners and with their stated intention that they wanted the Marlins to be “MLB’s Latin American team” I’m guessing would have most likely signed Correa and eventually Soto or at least seriously made an effort for him and that would be in addition to most likely keeping Stanton around and JT and Yelich for a few more seasons. Imagine what could have been.. Instead we got what we currently have. But but.. Derek Jeter!😂 Then the guy left and now Marlins stuck with what they have and I don’t see it changing anytime soon maybe another 15 years before a new ownership group. Maybe the Mas family at that time if they’re not too old by then. 😂Damn.. the more I think about it.. yeah it’s annoying. The Marlins really had a chance to build something special starting back in 2017 with the Mas family as owners. I feel like they could have had a realistic chance to become a top 10 team year after year instead of 28-29 out of 30 team. Oh well. It is what it is. That’s the life of a Marlins fan. 😂
