So I think you are correct he definitely would have been the owner that would have made a real difference here. People can talk up all they want but actions speak for themselves.. the fact that Inter Miami has signed players like Messi and Luis Suarez definitely shows the ownership actually wants to win and to put an entertaining product on the field.

I have a feeling that had the Mas bros become the Marlins owners and with their stated intention that they wanted the Marlins to be “MLB’s Latin American team” I’m guessing would have most likely signed Correa and eventually Soto or at least seriously made an effort for him and that would be in addition to most likely keeping Stanton around and JT and Yelich for a few more seasons. Imagine what could have been..

Damn.. the more I think about it.. yeah it’s annoying. The Marlins really had a chance to build something special starting back in 2017 with the Mas family as owners. I feel like they could have had a realistic chance to become a top 10 team year after year instead of 28-29 out of 30 team. Oh well. It is what it is. That’s the life of a Marlins fan. 😂

Yeah, it was pretty clear that MLB wanted Jeter in there regardless of offer (as long as they were close enough) or group he was associated with. If Jeter wasn't involved, it seemed the Mas group would've been it for sure.

It just sucks that we were the ones with the short end of the stick as usual, and we've seen the team continue to suffer with the random spark of a fun season (or two if you count 2020).

Well who knows.. anything is possible. Maybe at some point within the next 5 years or so the current owners might decide they’re over it and put the team for sale. And then it will be the Mas family time to come and shine and turn this whole franchise around in a positive way! After years of showing success of owning an MLS team hopefully will be a no brainer for MLB.

I doubt that will happen but you know. Nothing is impossible!

And for Loria he was just going to take the highest offer. Even though it was probably overpriced. But hey he got as much money as he could.

I also read that after the sale to Sherman and Jeter, Mas tried to join in as an investor but with the condition of having control of the team and he was rejected because Jeter wanted to have control. 😂

Of course none of this matters. Jeter is gone and Sherman is the owner and I don’t think that is changing anytime soon with MLB record profits and Sherman’s goals of winning while having the lowest payroll in baseball. It’s a great deal for him. Why would he want to sell the team? 😂

Also keep in mind that it wasn’t just Sherman who bought the team. 16 people all together including Jeter and even Michael Jordan put their money together. Of course Mas had a group of people as well bidding to buy the team. But I mean just based on what we’ve seen from Mas as the owner of the Inter Miami soccer team. Seems likely that he might have considered signing all those players on your wish list over the years like Correa and JT. 😂

Sherman and Jeter just did what it took to get enough people and money together to buy the team and even afterwards Mas offered like 300 million or something like that to join in the group and they didn’t want him because Jeter wanted to run the show.

But yeah. While there’s no way to know for certain, just based on what we’ve seen happen, Mas definitely would have been the best owner the Marlins and the city of Miami could have ever dreamed of having. I mean an actual billionaire businessman from Miami who went to UM and born and raised here and seems to care about the local community and wanting to have a winning team and entertaining product on the field and willing to spend money to make it happen. Sheesh.

We can’t have nice things as Marlins fan. Can we? 😂

Yeah, IIRC, the Sherman/Jeter offer was slightly higher than the reported Mas number, as they didn't feel it was worth the higher cost. That said, if on paper, a group is ok, I'm not sure the owners could decline someone to be an owner if it got to owner vote (without a legit reason), especially if they had the highest number?

He'll be up soon if he performs. He needs to work on his defense and throwing out runners right now.

They have to keep Hicks or they lose him and Fortes is entrenched.

Navarette can't hit but he's brilliant defensively. Hopefully him or Brantly, if he sticks around, can be a mentor to him and/or a bullpen catcher.

The hit tool is pretty much there though. Expect to see him in June if all goes well.

I didn’t realize Navaretto was still here. Then I just read he left several years ago and just resigned with the Marlins on March 5th. I still remember him from that 2020 season. He went 2-5 in the couple of games he played and looked decent at the plate and good defensively. I actually wanted the Marlins to keep him up and give him more of a chance. I mean it’s not like any of their other catchers over these years haves faired much better then he would probably have done even as a full time backup. Sheesh all those years of Stallings and Alfaro. Don’t want to remember it. 😂

Hopefully you had therapy and erased the Christhian Bethancourt era as well. And whatever Ali Sanchez was.

Navarreto has an impressive Marlin career. He batted .400 and threw out 50% of baserunners (please don't look at sample size)

Can't find any info on May but he does have an extensive injury history. TJ before senior year of high school I think and forearm tightness junior year of college. Has great stuff and six pitches but can't seem to stay healthy. Best guess is he might be looking at a Dax Fulton type brace surgery.

Darwin Rodriguez is way,way, way off the radar. Don't know his injury but there is nothing to suggest he is at all a prospect or in the Marlins future plans. Once he is healthy, I suspect they will release him shortly thereafter.
