Rough start for the AAA squad

I hate Edwards at short.

They are 2-1 and beat one of the best pitching prospects in baseball. Almost the entire squad is about 4 years younger than average age of AAA. Are you just complaining to complain?

This may be the first season in 33 years that I don’t make it through. I’m tired boss. Dog tired.

I miss Paul and Jess.

Soroka, Heaney, Quintana among others. There were obviously much better options but cal was signed for his cheap price. To your point they got guys coming up in a year 1.5 years and so it’s probably a wait and see thing on them. I am still miffed about trading Luzardo for a high floor low ceiling guy as well especially when they knew Braxton was going down.

My point is they knew they didn’t have enough mlb pitching but really did nothing to help with that so now we’re stuck with Quantrill for 20+ starts

Heaney will be 34, Quintana is 36. Zero point in signing them.

602 OPS and 33% k rate is an observation although DLS carrying a good chunk of that.

FAced two very good pitchers in Misiorowski and Rodriguez. DDLS does need a lot of work but he's still only 22 so there's is time to see if he can improve. Agustin looked good, Acosta looked good, and Pintar looked excellent. DDLS and DingleBerry not so much. Marsee is who he is.

They made the playoffs two years ago and then decided to start gutting the roster just when it looked like they might be onto something.

Yes, injuries to the pitching staff have played a MAJOR role in the team's downfall, but can you really blame people for complaining based on the history of this franchise?

This team has 60-65 wins written all over it, and that's assuming they don't trade Sandy midseason (or in May, if how they handled the Arraez situation is any indication).

I'm honestly okay with them not signing a veteran starter because like, who cares? The only thing that would have done was potentially give them another trade piece at the deadline, which would have been okay, I guess.

Trading Luzardo was just dumb (and to a division rival, no less). That's where I'm really stuck.

I was talking about the Jumbo Shrimp. We all know that this season is going to be rocky and painful at times like tonight, but it's an actual long-term plan under budget constraints from the owner.

Our plate approach has been disappointing tonight. Need to take a look at that and correct it going forward.

Seems like tonight is a big back to reality for a lot of Marlins fans with their heads in the clouds after starting 3-1 series. I knew that this series vs the Mets was going to to be the first real observation of how the Marlins would fair against a good mlb team. Can’t rely on facing the pirates closer to get runs every night. 😂

I’m maintaining my 53-109 prediction. That equates to winning around 1 out of every 3 games. And that’s on average. Of course there will be some weeks where Marlins sweep series and some times when they will have 8 game losing streaks. But over all they seems like a team that will win around 1 out of every 3 games they play.

Well since all the fairweather fans and crybabies left, here's the summary:

The Good: Nice debut for Luarbert Arias, three shutout innings in garbage time. Might be a useful piece in the bullpen down the road.

The Bad: Plate approach/discipline was pretty disappointing and a step back.

The Ugly: Quantrill blowing up, Soriano looking like a 4-A pitcher, and McCullough leaving him out to dry.

We are still 3-2 with Sandman up tomorrow. Every one of them will take it. 8-run losses count the same as 1-run losses.

Uh, other teams would've been proactive and signed some additional pitchers to overcome the YEARLY pitching deficit that they inexplicably never address and actually subtract from.

Eh, I have a problem with it, because if you're going to do a rebuild, why not sign people you can use as trade chips to accelerate the rebuild?
