Stowers had one of his worst games but the rest of the young guns stepped up.

Very comfortable with him there not having go through lineup more than once.

I just really wonder this team be if they kept lizard and signed an actual decent FA SP and a few arms. Daddy dix has really put together a fun lineup despite the atrocious pitching

Sandy-Eury-Weathers-Max-Cabrera should be a pretty solid rotation. Braxton Garrett hopefully will be back next year too. Bellozo and Mazur can fill in when needed.

Quantrill was and is always a stopgap until Mazur or Snelling is ready. Gillispie never sees the mound in the majors without the injuries.

There are still some holes in the lineup. 1B needs upgrading, 2B/SS sorting out, and the OF could use another quality bat or two. The upgrades at catcher have been massive (we have five legit catchers if you include Mack and defensive wizard Navarreto) as we suffered through the Stallings/Bethancourt all-time worst era.

Nardi and Cronin should be back at some point too.

The choice was between Luzardo and Cabrera and they shipped out Lizard because of his durability concerns. Outside of the aberration of 2023 neither has had a season over 100 ip (Luzardo had 100.1 ip one year so I am taking some liberties). If, and its a big if, Luzardo stays healthy then we can say it is a bad move. Too soon to tell though.

The farm system has had such a massive upgrade that we can now think about long-term success. We've gone from guys like Jacob Berry and Kahlil Watson being our top prospects to legit top 100 guys and depth behind them.

We've also gone from a nucleus of Jazz, Burger, Soler, Delacruz and Bell to a promising future of Agustin, Stowers, Norby, Sanoja, and Edwards all in one season or less. With more in the pipeline.

The only feasible FA SP we could have gone with was Soroka and he signed elsewhere. There were no other guys the right side of 30 or even 35 that were signable so we went with Quantrill to buy time.

The glass isn't half full, it's overflowing. Enjoy the ride.

Lizard trade is not to soon to tell it was a Bendix flop and probably a pretty big one. Caba is a high floor guy with very little ceiling. At worst he’d have gotten a much better package if he traded him now (although who knows what marlins pitching coaches might have ruined him). Salary was a big part of dumping lizard not injury or whatever so that’s a Sherman thing. Still a flop of dix

There were other guys like Corbin or Quintana that are a lot better than cal Quantrill. Bendix is 0 for 3 in his ability to assess these cheap shitty FA guys (TA, wagaman, cal Quantrill).

The lineup is fun and daddy dix has worked magic to get it there with some great trades including augustin for jazz which I have done a complete 180 on so mea culpa lolz.

The teams pitching is still bottom 5 (starters prob bottom 2 still) and theres a lot of work and this could be a philosophy thing but I guess we’ll see.

It’s still a 100 loss team this year but with the lineup could certainly be 90ish next year,

Most importantly they’re watchable as a team most nights

I understand the durability concerns of Luzardo, but they traded him at possibly his lowest value. I'd have shipped out Cabrera because he hasn't shown anything but very sporadic flashes of being good, and let Luzardo rebuild value, and then trade him.

Overflowing is obnoxiously too positive.

Agree the pitching looks absolutely terrible starters and RPs although I do have faith in all the driveline guys. We still have a terrible owner who won’t spend either.

I’ve gone from this is a 200 loss team a year into 2029 to well maybe they can win 70 in 2026 which is honestly is a big upgrade so props to daddy dix. And I do enjoy watching the team despite how annoying the pitching and wagaman are.

There was no need to trade lizard or Eddie though is the thing .they knew they lacked SP depth. Lizard had a $7M salary and Eddie didn’t that’s the huge difference. I don’t even blame Bendix he was forced to trade lizard at the bottom of his market and Caba I’m Sure was best he could muster

Just saying, if I had to choose between the two, I'd have jettisoned Cabrera.

correct. cabrera has never done much of anything. That was a 100% salary dump before Luzardo's salary "gets out of hand".

If Luzardo had remained and Sandy pitched even like he did in 2023 this team would likely be at .500 or within a game or so

but...can't change that trade now and we should be used to "expensive" pieces being jettisoned anyway.
