Sandy is 69 K's away from 1000 in his career. He is 79 K's from 1000 as a Marlin. He is 80 K's from tying Ricky Nolasco for 1st on the all time franchise K's leaderboard.

Unless he is hurt, he will almost certainly reach these marks as a Marlin this year. He can also pass Nolasco for 1st in innings pitched, but will probably have to be a Marlin after the trade deadline this year.

He can break the innings mark before the deadline, but would have to be on pace for about 238 innings this year.

His career record was 228.2 innings and he has only gone over 200 twice in his career. Post TJ I doubt the club would even allow him to get that many innings this year anyway. And especially if they do intend to trade him, they will not push him that hard in the first 4 months. It is moot if he is not traded.

He could also reach the complete games record if he gets 3. He had none last year, but 3 in 2023 and 6 in 2022, so who knows!

Giving bananas to all the pidgeons and seagulls is a nice touch....

Thanks! I try to feature a banana(s) in some capacity in each one of my "works"

Based on what I am seeing on Savant, Slater seems like a guys with low bat speed, but great bat control which leads to getting the ball on the sweet spot more often leading to a decent hard hit rate. He has typically had a good walk rate, but that significantly regressed last year with the White Sox. Overall with the Sox, he was pretty decent, but his numbers cratered big time after getting traded to the Yankees in the back half of the year. No BB's and 16 K's in 25 plate appearances bad. He suffered a significant hamstring injury just a few games into his time with the Yankees, so maybe that explains the lack of production there.

Small sample size, but with the White Sox he hit 5 homers and walked 8 times in 77 PA's. That is a 45 homer pace per 500 PA's and a walk rate of 17.8%.

He grades out as a decent arm with mid range in the field and an above average runner. Seems to me like an older less mobile Dane Myers (also has better plate discipline) that might have more pop. I feel like this is more of an emergency move than anything, but not the worst one at that.
