It's one thing to lose a random trade here and there where a guy breaks out that wasn't expected. But nearly every major trade we've made has turned out poorly thus far, some of which have no hope of improving (especially earlier trades).

But hey, Bruce saved some money, so we have that!

I feel like it's proven, if they trade from the MLB Roster it's going to be a loss value wise. If they trade from the Minors its a win win for both sides or a lose lose.

Why is Bendix so willing to trade from a ML roster when he can trade from the Minors and fill in a few gaps around the edges.
You've all said it, we should have Kept Mesa, Luzardo, Hicks and Rodgers. Those moves alone buy us maybe 2 or 3 more wins over the course of a season and we'd be in the middle of the playoff race instead of just outside fighting to get in.

This team makes the playoffs last year and this year if they kept Luzardo alone. He alone shifts the equation 4-5 Wins. Impossible task to root for

Sounds like a Marlins project line to me!

ESPN gave the Marlins a "B" for the season grade, because we'll have a similar record to last year's 79-83 record, but went from a minus 89 run differential to a +3 (as of today).

Also, there's no squeaking into the playoffs with 84 wins this year.......the Cubs, Phillies, and Padres are all tied with 87-70 records as of today....

Even by the Marlins' standards, this is still highly reasonable.

To be honest, if they really aren't willing to do any of these things, then this franchise has no reason to exist. However, I believe the implementation of a salary floor will force them to execute at least some of these projects.

No guarantee of a floor at this point, as owners want it to pair with a cap.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them compromise with some sort of "floor tax" similar to the current luxury tax on the upper end where it's not a hard limit (in this case requirement), but there'll be a penalty if you don't meet it, meaning you may as well pay for the players......

It is really obvious that most of his animosity towards Bendix and Sherman are due to the fact that the new ownership forced his ass out of the beat writer position. Guarantee that if he had stayed, he would have continued to peddle the company line like he did before. But now his latest grift is this conspiracy theory that the Marlins ownership was installed to break apart the MLBPA and force a salary cap...

Yeah, he always bent over backward to defend the previous group despite obvious ridiculousness and not trying to win then either.

Nah.......it's just that they're an ownership group that can't actually afford to run the team how it needs to be run/at the payroll it needs in the market to prove they're committed to winning, so they're in "make money" mode with how they operate. They got the team because Jeter was involved. The other main group in talks was the Mas brothers, and they've shown with Inter Miami that they'd have been great owners that would've been willing to spend and win, but they didn't have Jeter, so talks were steered the other way.

Not much more to it than that, IMO.
