January 22, 200422 yr the marlins. orlando hernandez was at sedanos the other day for like the 3rd time in 2 months and my dad and his friend which r the managers of sedanos had a special oppurtunity to talk to him. he said he is 95% healthy and will be 101% by spring training. he said he wanted to come big time here and that the marlins had called him 2 times already. he said they were talking on a deal but he said he wasent aloud to say. but he saids he would love to pitch with the marlins.i will ask him again on sunday. he might come again. it was awesome he gave me a signed picture and a ball. only bad news was that the picture was him with the expos :thumbdown but things r looking good :thumbup

January 22, 200422 yr Author good because i would swear on anything that its true. lets hope he will sign with the marlins. hopefully it will look like this if he gets a 2 year offer 2005 {all healthy} 1.a.j burnett imagine 19-5 era 2.74 2.josh beckett 17-5 2.45 era 3.el duque 13-6 era 3.03 4.brad penny 15-8 3.20era 5. willis 15-8 3.23 era
January 22, 200422 yr hopefully it will look like this if he gets a 2 year offer I don't see him getting a two-year deal from anyone, and by the time A.J. becomes 100% healthy to start, Orlando could most definately move to the pen to help preserve his career and help our relief "situation."

January 22, 200422 yr Lets see, if we sign El Duque and Maels, our bullpen will look like Benitez Neu Rodriguez Tejera Bump El Duque (2nd half of the season) Rodriguez Lefty Specialist (Phelps/Grasequi (sp?)/FA Signing)
January 22, 200422 yr Author i thought if i would put josh 22-6 and a.j 20-7 u would all say yea right but i do believe both will get 20 and beyond

January 22, 200422 yr in his case pavano is in the pen. I'd put El Duque in the pen instead of Pavano. But hey, that's just me.
January 22, 200422 yr in his case pavano is in the pen. There is no way a healthy Pavano is in the pen and Orlando, coming off surgery, is in the rotation. :banghead
January 22, 200422 yr I don't think it would hurt to sign el duque to a 1 year contract. Pitching wins championship.

January 22, 200422 yr I am not saying that I am saying that marlins04 said that. I would put hernandez in the pen for sure.
January 22, 200422 yr I am not saying that I am saying that marlins04 said that.  Hernandez in pen. Provides good spot relief in case of injury and adds depth.
January 22, 200422 yr First of all thanks for post, it was insightful. My concerns are both his injury and his salary. The last thing the Marlins need is to sign a guy for a couple of million that can't contribute throughout an entire season. I hope the guy is healthy and if he is, I hope he's wearing teal in 2004. But I remember Chuck Smith promising everyone he was healthy when he wasn't. If he signs, my belief is his contract ought to be short on guarantees and long on incentives.
January 22, 200422 yr el duque would really fix up our bullpen in the 2nd half. something we could see is aj getting in the bullpen for some light work in april and may and el duque would be a starter in any case el duque is a good player to put in the pen

January 22, 200422 yr El Duque would be great to join the rotation at the beginning of the season. Certainly a heck of a lot better than Tejera (shivers at the thought). Sign him to a 1 yr deal to see how he does.

January 22, 200422 yr He's only going to get a one-year deal. If anythign else maybe an option year added on. Decent pickup. If chep I hope the Marlins pick him up. Admin stop tweaking the board and sign this guy!
