  1. Who do you guys consider out #1 rival. I always thought it was the Braves but everyone on this board has something for them Mets...
  2. They'd probably go straight to Gaby...
  3. if Hermida hits.300 with 20+HR and 80+ rbi
  4. would be dissapointed with anything but a sweep. We are betterthan them in every aspect. Huge advantages in the pitching matchups.
  5. I'm assuming that this game will be treated like a regular season game so it'll give us a good taste of what is to come...
  6. Marlins acquired catcher John Baker from the Athletics for Jason Stokes. Baker was Marlins property for a few weeks in Dec. 2005, getting claimed off waivers from the A's. However, the A's got him back when the Marlins tried to get him through waivers and he hit .273/.361/.386 for Triple-A Sacramento last season. The 26-year-old is strictly insurance for Florida. rotoworld.com
  7. who's the 5th starter???? Nolasco... but because of off days, I dont know when they would even need him to pitch. april 10
  8. Owens: 14 ip, 1 run lindstrom: 13.1 ip, 1 run Gregg: 11.1, 2 runs Gardner: 13.1, 0 runs Messenger: 14.1 ip, 2 runs Julio: 11.1 ip, 10 runs ridiculous....Any chance that Freddi Gonzales reverses his decision before opening day?
  9. have hard time getting three out botton of 9 did he give up runs?
  10. im sure the padres had a reason to cut him. for that same reason, florida shouldnt bother, and they wont anyway. the roster is set. good thought though. they dropped him cause he wasn't worth 4 milion.
  11. http://bdcast-beasley-wqam-am.wm.llnwd.net...ey_wqam-am?.wma too hear the game This guy has mowed em' down in the minors. He concluded last season with a 1.80 era and a 1.10 whip. He also had an amazing 13.50 k/9 ratio. BTW. Abercrombie has three jacks since being sent down....
  12. For my college english class, I have to write an argumentative essay. I was leaning towards writing an essay based on the florida marlins stadium situation. Of course, I am for it. I was wondering if you guys could give me a list of how the stadium would benefit our society or any benefits from it in particular. If the essay turns out to be good, it could be published in the school newspaper. So give me some good ideas so that I can open the eyes of many.
  13. that mean that willis will patch saturday april 7 game at home? Yes. Home Opener on Friday, first "Super Saturday", and still cool enough to enjoy a Sunday game. Should be a great week end attendance-wise. So we get the 5th starter for the home opener on Friday. :| what? that would be game #4 And I read that we wouldnt need a 5th starter until April 10th
  14. Hanley Ramirez was limited to one at-bat Tuesday by a strained right groin. Ramirez said the groin has bothered him for a couple of days now. "It's fine. I just want to make sure everything's OK," Ramirez said. "I wanted to stay in. I was on my way to the field." He'll probably be back in the lineup for Thursday's game.
  15. Amezaga just replaced Hanley in the first inning. Was he injured?
  16. About the price offered... The Marlins have offered Miguel Cabrera the same one-year, $6.45 million contract that Dontrelle Willis accepted on Monday. Cabrera appears set to set a record for a first-time arbitration-eligible player and might not want to settle early, though the Marlins' offer is pretty fair. Cabrera won't be eligible for free agency until after 2009. Source: Miami Herald
  17. B.J. Upton, Tampa Bay Devil Rays: A real organization (and the new Tampa regime might qualify by the time the season is out) would probably have some idea what to do with The Talented Mr. Upton. Here's what we know: One, he is an astounding athlete. Two, he has a Belle-quick bat. And three, when a ball bounces his way in the infield, it is just as likely to connect with his shin, temple or Adam's apple as with his glove. Ergo, one would suggest a shift to the outfield ... but three years after the prospect groupies started that speculation, Upton remains a defensive nomad on a team with 26 DH candidates. At some point, you figure that either he or another of the Tampa outfielders (Rocco Baldelli?) has to wind up in Marlin teal as the key cog in a deal for young pitching. quote from cbs
  18. The Marlins are looking at David Murphy and the Indians' Franklin Gutierrez as they continue their search for a center fielder. B.J. Upton and Elijah Dukes would be better options, but the Marlins haven't been able to get anything done with the Rays. There was some speculation last year about Murphy for Taylor Tankersley, but there's little chance that the Marlins would give up the left-hander now. Ricky Nolasco, who was offered up for Upton, is more expendable, but he's still worth a little more than either Murphy or Gutierrez. Perhaps Yusmeiro Petit is a possibility. Source: FOXSports.com
  19. Lawrence is going to sign for cheap. The best offers he has so far are minor league deals. I was thinking that maybe the Marlins should get him. This would allow us to put Ricky in the closers role and still have a strong rotation. He had some good years with San Diego before his injury last year. He could easily be the best #5 starter in the game. Starters Dontrelle Willis Scott Olsen Josh Johnson Anibal Sanchez Brian Lawrence Bullpen Henry Owens Matt Lindstrom Kevin Gregg Taylor Tankersley Renyel Pinto Ricky Nolasco That looks like a strong pitching staff. What do you guys think. You can never have enough pitching. All of those guys have the stuff to be excellent bullpen weapons.
  20. How about the Marlins try getting one of these relieveres... Octavio Dotel (Could be a great closer. You know how we do with ex-closers gone bad) Latroy Hawkins (same here) Justin Speier (Could be too expensive) Ray King (We nee another lefty. Tan can't do it every night) Brian Meadows (Why not give him a shot)
  21. chipper Jones...should be unanimous
  22. What will you do after after lose? Here what I'll do: At the locker room I'll be throwing chairs trying to get the message across about today spechless game. And I will force my team to stay in the stadium and train them on their defense for hours. :mad My coach would do that in High School but major league baseball players don't get messages sent to them that way.
  23. All I could do was laugh at the end of this one.
  24. Too bad Loria was to cheap to grab an arm at in august when he saw we were on our way to contention.
