Is it safe to say we are done for?

Featured Replies

We got a long road trip, Braves, Phillies, & Mets, our bullpen is on shambles and I think our morale has been beaten down with these 2 loses. Should we just ride it out and say we just overachieved annd just ran out of gas? this 2 loses really hurt man, we could of won at least 1 of them if not 2, I've lost all hope... :(

If the terrible start the Marlins got off to this season didn't break team morale I doubt the last two losses change anything. I think they'll bounce back in Atlanta.

No way are we done!

We are only 3 back. This team has been against the wall before it even stepped its foot on the baseball field in the spring.

This team has shown its resilience time and again.

This team is scary because they want it. Sure we can use a CF, RF, and some more relievers, but imo teams that want it are the scariest.

It pisses me off the the FO didn't get an extra arm when they had a chance, fine, keep the CF experiment till the end of the season but we needed the arms after Kensing and Martinez went into the DL.

This season cant end like this. There is no reason why this team cant win the WC. It will be tough but I believe they can.

i agree...we are not done for. And either way, we can't approach it like that. I said it in July, everything we do from here on out is just a bonus...we COULD go 0-16 in the final 16 and I would feel damn proud of this team for their accomplishments. That being said Atlanta is playing for nothing right now and by the time the Mets series comes around they will have the division wrapped up, so really we are looking at 7 games that we need to take 5-6 out of the 7 to be in the race...if we can't take 5 or 6 here, our hopes of playing past OCT 1 are slim to none.

never give up, ever. we have nothing to lose which is exactly why we keep pushing each and every day.

we can't drop back further than three games. we have to keep winnning and hope the teams ahead of us lose every now and then.

Wow talk about Negative ! :thumbdown

People like salami scare me . That was the first rule my Mom and Pop taught me, and the first rule I taught my Boys . NEVER QUIT . second was wipe from front to back :lol

sorry bad joke

Salami are you serious? This thread is a major DISRESPECT you dont come into a Marlins forum and post is the season over because they lost 2 games im suprised this thread hasnt been deleted. If you claim to be a Marlins fan you dont do something like this just because you dont have faith doesnt mean were done THINK next time before you make a thread like this.

Of course we're not technically done due to not being mathematically eliminated, but our chances of making the wild card are bleak at best. We're 3.5 games behind a hot team (San Diego is 15-7 in their last 22 games). There are 2 more teams between us and first, with 2 right behind us. Our closer has an ERA of 5.87 in his last 17 outings and 4 blown saves in the last 9 outings. The rest of the bullpen, besides Tankersley who I don't trust yet, are not MLB calibur. We also have the toughest schedule of any of the contenders for the WC spot. Now I really really really hope we make the playoffs. It would be an insanely awesome accomplishment and I love watching this team play. But I'm going to temper my expectations until I see us in first place.

Die in a fire

What kind of thread is this?! NO, WE ARE NOT DONE!

This must have been started by a fairweather fan.

This kind of talk has to wait for the end of the weekend. Any more than 2 games out then and you have to start looking in the mirror then, not quite yet.

Baseball players typically bounce back from tough losses much quiker than fans do (I sure hope so because Ive been walking around muttering to myself for the past 48 hours).

Based on our upcoming schedule and our horrific bullpen I think were done though in terms of the wild card. I wont go over all of the highly insurmountable things were up against following Tue/Wed nites losses.

Will I still watch every game for rest of the year? You bet your azz I will because I love the Marlins and as far as Im concerned this year has been 50 times better than 2004/2005.

I know where you can stick your first thought

Can I shine it up real nice, then turn that sumbitch sideways?
