Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but Baseball Prospectus gives the Marlins a 7.4% chance of making the postseason. (as of Sept. 11, i'm sure it's worse now) So there's a snowball's chance in hell still out there.

What if we were 15 (or 20) games back on August 1 and had been winning ever since to pull to 3.5 out? It wouldn't even be a question then.

Yes, we are done but not done enough to give up. We lost control of our own destinty beyond running off a 13-3 or 12-2 finish.

If we lose at any point this weekend and drop to 4.5 its all over.

The sports page of my local paper lists the AL and NL wild card races every morning. And they still have the Red Sox there (8 games back!). If anyone still thinks the BoSox have a chance at 8 out, then we're a cinch at 3.5.

At 3.5 games back we are still in it, though I won't be a homer and say the chances are good that we will win the WC. We are on the brink of defeat but we aren't quite done yet.

It's been a long time since I thought we had a legitimate shot at the WC. BUT... That dosen't mean I have given up either. These kids have shown me they have a huge heart and a willingness to continue and compete no matter the odds. It is only fair as a fan I give them the same in return. It's called respect and you can sing that song along with me if ya want. I will be in my seat til the very last out of the very last game. And I have secured my play off package in hopes that very last game is not October 1st. That's part of being a good fan.

We can handle the Phillies and Reds ourselves, and if we do really well we will catch and/or surpass the Padres.

No matter what happens with the playoffs this year, we improve on the following stat next year, this team should get in:

Today's game is a lmost a must-win. They need to sweep Atlanta and by Monday need to be within 2 games of the lead to be alive for the WC.

They still have a chance, but I wouldn't say it's looking like we will win it right now.
