Mancha and Marlins show mutual interest
We get Fredi Gonzalez and the Cabrera 'issue' dies right there. Every game against the Braves Lowell and Cabrera spend a significant time talking to Fredi. For that reason alone, he is my frontrunner. Oh yeah, he also has been learning from a certain Bobby Cox for some time.

2005 Marlins Attendance
Raised ticket prices had something to do with it. Still, give us a stadium and you'll see the numbers improve. Are we 3rd to last or 4th to last for attendance? C'mon, let's get real. Attendance sucked. 27th out of 30. The freaking ROCKIES, who had nothing to play for since like May, out drew us. The freaking Rockies play in a beautiful stadium right smack in the middle of the cool part of Denver. They don't play in a giant football stadium on the Dade-Broward county line.

I'm bummed out

MarlinsBaseball.com Says Thank You to Jack
Jack -- You came to us on a days notice and brought with you your wit, your cigars, and most importantly the right moves to bring a team of underdogs to the playoffs. Then you took that team past the Giants, Cubs, and Yankees all the way to the WS trophy. That cemented you in baseball history and into the memories of all fans down here in South Florida. Nobody will ever forget about your teams and what you did for the Marlins. Miami will always regard you as their honorary grandpa. Thanks for everything! JR

Berardino: Don't judge Burnett harshly
Apparently Berardino has his lips stuck too far up Burnett's butt to present both sides of the story. Sheesh.... I agree, although I wouldn't have said it so colorfully as you did.

Thank you Beinfest
For sending that underperformer home. AJ, that ring you have is because you hung around the clubhouse. The batboy contributed to that WS more than you did. After all these years of support you just flaked when the team needed you the most and you leave through the back door with a losing record. Enjoy your money and expect to get boo'd the day you return. Beinfest, you rock. Not many FO staff would have the balls to make that move. Well since you think Beinfest rocks please give examples of the wonderful moves he made this year to IMPROVE the team??? Thank you for your insight in advance. Oh and I mean AFTER the season began. By AJ and dont u come back no moreeeeeeeeeeeeeee Hey there is a picture for ya...the biggest suck ass on this team...LENNY HARRIS!! I have never seen a guy who is quoted more and sucks up big time to McKeon. Not moving AJ was a vote for confidence in the team. I was one of those asking him to be shipped out for prospects (like a package deal for Hanley Ramirez) but at the time with A Gon relatively healthy, it would have been a deal that on paper would have set us back this season. He went and got Delgado in the offseason, which is by far bigger and better than any midseason deal. Seeing how 'effective' the midseason trades have been for other teams (Preston Wilson to the Nats, Danny Graves to the Mets, ...) Beinfest did the right thing standing pat. And he did the right thing again sending whiner boy home. AJ is gonna have that crybaby rep from now on.

That was my last 1:00pm game
It's the same in every other city (ie st louis, chicago, cincinatti, atlanta, philadelphia, the list goes on)...it's probably worse then florida and those teams sell out their games and some of them have even worse records then the marlins. It's summer EVERYWHERE, not just South Florida... 902588 Let me respond by taking the official temperatures from MLB for the other day games going on today. And perhaps you should come to more of those Sunday games from now on, maybe with any little kids in the family to see how fun it is to see them pass out and have them carted away by the medics. If I hadn't given away my remaing Sunday tickets to a friend, I would have kindly offered them to you. City / Weather / Wind Miami 92F 3mph Milwaukee 75F 9mph Seattle 71F 4mph Kansas City 72F 13mph Clevand 74F 16mph Atlanta 85F 14mph Houston - - (indoors) Denver 69F 5mph New York 94F 11mph Oakland 68F 9mph Baltimore 95F 6mph San Diego 75F 5mph Los Angeles 75F 5mph Boston 86F 8mph Its summer everywhere, but their summer weather equals our winter weather.

That was my last 1:00pm game
its just a little heat. try watching a baseball game in 118 degree heat. wusses. 902460 Where is that going on? Some little league game in New Mexico? All the MLB teams in the really hot places (Arizona, Houston, Tampa) have air conditioning, except us.
-
That was my last 1:00pm game
Yeah, I'm not even joking, I was ready to leave the second we scored the 4th run. Glad that I didn't, but man, that heat was ridiculous. It wouldn't even be so bad if the seats weren't a dark color...you wish they'd cover them with a white tarp or something before the game...the chairs are like ovens. But they'll stay with the 1 start time, enough people didn't show up for the 4 o'clock games to justify jacking teams on get-away day... 902431 True, everytime I went up to hide in the shade inbetween innings and get a drink I'll come back down and think the seat was a frying pan.

Giants designate Rueter for assignment
He was with the team yesterday. Was really nice to the fans too.

Papa John's
that's a pretty sweet deal, did they just start doing this? or is it a one time thing? 902418 It was Willis previously, but its Beckett's promo for August

That was my last 1:00pm game
I seriously hope we go back to 3:00pm start times for Sunday, it was ridiculously hot out there today and a lot of the regular season ticket holders didn't bother showing up. I saw two girls get carried out after being passed out with heat exhaustion, and I'm sure the tally was much higher. Big thumbs down on the idea of moving the games to 1:00pm this year. :thumbdown

Papa John's
Yes it was for Beckett's win on Saturday. Don't we have 48 hours to collect? 902305 Yup, so tomorrow around dinner time is probably the deadline. Its good for a small cheese pizza at any Papa Johns in South Florida.

Marlins vs Giants---1:05et---at the PRO
Yea, yet another radio game for us all to enjoy. Radio Rally 901176 If you start driving now you'd get to Dolphin Stadium on time. :thumbup

Beckett's "HR"
From my point of view, that was clearly a HR. WTF happened on that play? Channel 10 didn't show it on their game recap. :confused

Tonight's Start Time
At least the fans will get to the game on time. The 6 o'clock games normally don't get "filled up" until 7 o'clock. I use the term "filled up" in relative terms. 900595 They'll be close to 30,000 tonight I bet. That, for this market, is a full house. If our field wasn't in a huge football stadium it would be a packed house. If the Yankees played in the Rose Bowl it wouldn't look so "filled up" either. 900626 Kudos 900974 Next time I'll throw the winning lotto numbers in there too.

Marlins vs Giants---7:05et---at the PRO
Josh was great but I would've perfered to see Todd Jones out there to take care of business. It would be nice for Mr Robinson's boys to start scoring more runs though.

The Official Matt Treanor is A Baller Thread
I couldn't find a picture of that monster tag he put at the plate, but he was nailed and held on for a huge play when it counted. Matt, you are the man. Thanks to you I have three Papa John's pizzas. :thumbup :notworthy

Marlins vs Giants---7:05et---at the PRO
I want offense. I don't care if we can't turn a double play all evening. If we have to wait 5 innings for a single hit I am going to take my frustrations out on Billy the Marlin and sever his limbs.
