August 31, 200519 yr I hope they call Hermi up tomorrow! Can anyone post a pic of Hermida with Loria?
August 31, 200519 yr MIAMI -- Top prospect Jeremy Hermida was at Dolphins Stadium on Tuesday and his big league debut may be any day now. Hermida, the Marlins' No. 1 draft pick in 2002, was in South Florida getting his injured left wrist evaluated by team hand surgeon, Dr. Brian Fingado. The left-handed-hitting outfielder has a bone bruise, and is close to returning to action. The question is where? A standout for Double-A Carolina, Hermida could rejoin the Mudcats, who have clinched a playoff spot in the Southern League. But the Marlins may be looking at the big picture. The club is weighing whether to make Hermida available on their postseason roster. To do so, the club must bring him up before Thursday. Players called in on or after Sept. 1 are not eligible to play in the playoffs. The fact that Hermida is already in Miami is a strong indication that he may not be going back to Carolina. Hermida also is expected to remain in South Florida on Wednesday. "They just wanted me to come here to see a doctor," said Hermida, who had an MRI exam on Aug. 26. "It's a bone bruise. Nothing is broken. I'm pretty much fine." At Dolphins Stadium on Tuesday, Hermida hit some soft-toss in the batting cages. At Double-A, Hermida is batting .297 with 18 home runs and 63 RBIs. Regarded as one of the best prospects in Double-A, he has 111 walks to 89 strikeouts. Growing up in Marietta, Ga., Hermida has long been compared to Atlanta's Jeff Francoeur. The two were rivals in high school and then in Double-A, with Francoeur playing for the Mississippi Braves before he was called up to Atlanta. While Francoeur is making a huge impact for the Braves, batting .351 with 10 home runs and 31 RBIs in 40 games, consider his Minor League numbers. For the Mississippi Braves, Francoeur hit .275 with 13 home runs and 62 RBIs. Hermida said he talked to Francoeur when he was brought up, but not since. "I've known him since I was 14," Hermida said. "I wish him the best. I played against him this year, in the same league. I don't know if it's possible to come up and put up better numbers than he has. It's not even human what he's doing now. He's up here doing his thing. Hopefully, one day I'll get my chance to do what I can do."
August 31, 200519 yr They were double checking out his injury to make sure that it's worth bringing him up. I think they'll recall him tomorrow.
August 31, 200519 yr I have been waiting for this to happen! For the Fish, and so I can sign him to my fantasy team's keeper league!! YES!

August 31, 200519 yr Chris Resop - R - Marlins Marlins optioned RHP Chris Resop to Double-A Carolina Resop pitched a scoreless inning yesterday. This might be a move to create a spot for Jeremy Hermida to be called up Wednesday. Aug. 30 - 11:10 pm et - - RotoWorld
August 31, 200519 yr NICE, I like Resop but if it comes down to him and Hermida...well have fun in Raleigh, Chris.
August 31, 200519 yr Author Chris won't leave Miami, I bet he's here come Thursday. Its just the Marlins want Hermida on the playoff roster by tommorrow deadline
August 31, 200519 yr :mischief2 hmmm maybe leaving that last jersey I bought blank was a good idea :shifty
August 31, 200519 yr Moving Resop may not necessarily mean Hermida is being called up. Don't read that to mean Hermida won't be added but rather that Admin Beinfest may have someone else in his sights. You have to believe the Fish are going to do something to try and improve the team for the stretch run before the deadline. By this time tomorrow it will all play out anyways.

We only have two guys on our team that can hit for power. I have a feeling Hermida could jump in the lineup with a hurt wrist and be a better power threat than some of the stiffs on this team. Hermida will split time in LF with Conine, IMO. Lowell is done for the rest of the year. We need more offense and Conine/Hermida can get it done the rest of the year.

I don't mean it as an insult to Castillo, Conine, Pierre (when he's hot), etc. for lacking power. I mean it as a rip on our lineup as a whole. It is hard to win when only two guys (Cabrera/Delgado) are power threats. From all indications, Hermida, if healthy, could immediately be the third best power hitter on our team. We'll need that if we want to win a WS, IMO. Conine/Hermida can split time in the OF. Lowell is a stiff in every sense of the word when it comes to his bat, and we need more than just Conine in LF for the rest of the year, IMO. We better activate Hermida before 9/1 even if it requires us cutting someone on the 40 man roster (I'm not sure of that rule when it comes to call ups).
August 31, 200519 yr anyone else get chills when they showed Hermida with Loria? I had a hell of a feeling come over me...it was probably gas from the Cheesy Gordita Crunch I had an hour earlier but still...seeing Hermida is a beautiful sign.
August 31, 200519 yr Right-handed reliever Chris Resop was optioned to Double-A Carolina following Tuesday's game. The Marlins may make a trade to fill the roster spot. A trade? Or making room for Hermida?
August 31, 200519 yr If they do send Chris down to bring up Hermida, then I think chris will be back upon the major league team on September 1st. He pitched a good inning there. He is a solid pitcher for relief down the stretch. I believe the following will be on the september list 1. Hermida 2. Resop 3. Dillon 4. Tanky (maybe for some mop up relief) 5. Joe Johnson (LR/Mop up and spot start) 6. Andino/willy 7. Jorgy (great for if lo duca has problems could spot with treanor sometime) 8. Messenger (already up but stays up) that is my basic list for who might help some. Perhaps add one more to there like Reed but, I think that should be enough there. Yes, I think they will flip chris and hermida for a short few moments.

August 31, 200519 yr Hermida's not just sitting there by chance to watch a game with Loria, he's definitely being called up as for other call ups, it would be nice to have someone like eric reed on the bench to pinch run in a tight situation
