  1. I am in WPB now, and frankly the new stadium, even though farther away, will probably get me to more games. Esp. if there is some sort of public transportation in the works, which there is planned to be. Most people I know who live around here feel the same way. Less games for me. We will be stopping our full season package and have to go with some sort of partial plan. Week night games are out of the question. What Dade residents don't understand is that it isn't so much the time it takes us to GET to a game, it's the time it takes us to get home after a game also. For PBC residents that work, it's enough of a problem right now. The new pond makes it unbearable. And any type of public transportation just adds to the travel time. So what exactly do you want then? I'm getting it. The Fish are staying in South Florida. I'm not the one complaining. Mungo is the one blasting PBC fans for not going and beating his chest saying moving the facility closer to downtown Miami solves all the attendance problems. Like it has helped the Heat or something. Actually it has helped the Heat. I agree with you though no need to point any fingers or blame PBC or Broward for lack of attendance. I live in Coral Gables but I do not want to cut off ties to all Marlins fans. The Heat games have looked empty this past year, and thats two seasons removed from a championship. Plus "Miami fans" didn't go to the Orange Bowl location when the Hurricanes were playing there (only 7-8 games/year), so why would they go when the Marlins are there (81 games/year). I'm from Broward and I go to plenty of Marlins games.
  2. I like the new look a lot.
  3. Wow, an article on poor attendance at Marlins games? Original. Hey, I didn't write it, I just reported it. Wasn't directed at you.

  5. I love that play.
  6. Hopefully this is the straw that breaks the camel's back. It happened in Sunday's game with Rabelo. It would be nice for the front office to finally pull the trigger on some real bullpen help. Just think, this all could have been avoided if our owner would spend some money in the offseason. I guess they put the organization in this situation...........the bullpen situation, not the competing for the lead in our division situation.
  7. Can we first start by trading Rabelo for a couple bats or balls.
  8. It's rather pointless to lay out actual trade proposals. It's more realistic to just select players that should be dealt and should be targetted. Players that should be traded Matt Lindstrom- overrated big time Scott Olsen - the Olsen of today reminds me of Mark Redman, I don't think it is a matter of "if" but when he starts getting racked again. Trade him while his value is high. (Something we didn't do with Willis) Mike Jacobs - just sucks, I can't think of a team that would be interested in him except the Giants who have Rich Aurilia at first and maybe the Mariners if they release Sexson Josh Williangham - solid player but to injury prone, won't have any value until he starts hitting for us again and is healthy Granted Jacobs BA, OBP, and K:BB ratio are nothing to be desired. He is in the top 10 in the NL for homeruns and top 15 for RBIs. This with significantly less plate appearances. So I wouldn't say he sucks. However, I think we all would be happy if he bumps up his OBP a few points.
  9. Yeah, I'd imagine Salty is their catcher of the future and it'd be better to talk about Ramirez/Teagarden. And yeah, Jacobs still has basically 0 value. Maybe we could get an average reliever for him.... In the condition their pitching staff is in, I highly doubt Teagarden is available. Uhh...Teagarden is a catcher. He's thinking Henry Rowengartner, the pitcher coming off Tommy John. They say he is actually throwing better now than he did before, but his manager always forgets his name. Shoe in for the Rookie of the Year... I thought his name was Henry Rosinbagger. :confused No no, its Gardenhoser.
  10. I was recently reading on wikipedia (yes, its reliable) that Craig Minervini used to do wrestling (WWF I believe) interviews and XFL play-by-play calls. Just thought I'd share that.
  11. Foreshadowing?
  12. Overall, I feel good about the series (as we took 2 of 3 and gained a game on the Phillies). We held Philly to just 3 runs a game. Hopefully, we slowed up their offense for their upcoming series. They have a horrible road to the all-star break (STL, BOS, LAA, OAK, TEX, ATL, NYM, STL, ARI). Only two of those team (division rivals Mets and Braves) have records under .500. I'm hoping we can play well enough to catch up to them.
  13. He then showed the audience an orange baseball cap with "Marlins" on it. Ugh. I was thinking the same thing.
  14. Awesome.
  15. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3429794 Best part of the article is when Treanor used the term "superpimp."
  16. Another change: The rays are good.
  17. The defense was spectacular. Nolasco finally gave us a quality start...6.2 IP, 2 ER. We needed that! Hanley and Hermida with multi-hit games...that's great to see. Wes Helms shut the Philly crowd up. Cody Ross and Gonzo stay hot. The bullpen did well (nice bounce back by Gregg with the 1, 2, 3 inning). Nice game... Nolasco has given us some quality starts before this.
  18. Andrew Miller had a bad first inning, that unwarranted throw to 3rd instead of 1st basically changed the whole inning for him. He seemed to settle down though. The home plate umpire was very inconsistent at times....I'll leave it at that. All in all, it is only one loss. Lets win the series tomorrow and move on to Philly.
  19. It was in and out with me. I was a pretty big fan as a kid when I moved here from Houston in 1993. It was all cool until they traded my 3 favorite players away, Alou, then Niner, then Sheff. I was one of the kids that felt betrayed and left. I came back in June or July of 2003, which was a good time to return it seems. After 03, I became a casual fan, watching some games, going to FanFest, following the team. Then I started dating AdrianneLove, and we went to a game in 05 and had some fun...she had no idea what she started. The 2006 team really sucked me in, and I've been about as diahard as you can get since then. So anyone here likes or doesn't like the little images I make, you can take it up with her. P.S. F*ck Huizenga, who nearly killed my love for baseball by being a greedy bastard. I felt the same way as you. I actually was a braves fan (ugh, I think I just choked on vomit) from 98-00. Came back during the 2001 season. I felt very betrayed by the Marlins during those times.
  20. I'd have to say Antonio Alfonseca. I remember going to games with my dad as a kid and finding this man to be be really exciting, especially the idea that he had more than 10 fingers. :lol But in all honestly, I don't like to choose favorite players or buy their jerseys for that matter. I cheer for the team, period, which is a good thing considering the rate at which the Miami sports scene has been changing over the past few years. I always thought that gave him an unfair advantage lol, meean curveball or something, better control? Who knows haha. He says no. And I would agree with him. I don't think that 6th finger really even touches the ball. But here's a little trivia on him. The Yankess drafted him and wanted him to have that 6th finger surgically removed. He also has 12 toes. And it is a hereditary condition that typically skips a generation, for whatever reason. His grandmother has the same thing. Anyway... If I HAD to pick one player I would go with Charlie Hough. The old knuckleballer.
  21. I reference 1993 when talking about becoming a Marlins fan, but it was probably before that.
  22. Growing up my favorite player was Chucky Carr. More recently its been Miguel Cabrera.
  23. The only thing I wasn't liking was that the main gate was in the outfield. Seeing all the fans walk in on TV while the game was playing just didnt do it for me. Minor detail though.
  24. Even if one likes Coughlin, we have a hole at 3B also, and I just don't buy into Andino as an IF solution anywhere. Uggla can play 3B. Does Uggla have the arm to play 3rd?
  25. Do you think the reason why Miller is not being sent down is because he is the 5th highest player on the team, with a salary of around $1.3 million/year?
