  1. Watching this team helped me deal with my horrible job. Anticipating the weekend homestands helped make the weeks go by faster. This is going to be a long postseason for me. wow, what is it that you do for a living? I'm a graphic designer. It's not what I do that's horrible. It's where I work. Being emotionally and verbally abused day in and day out is taking a toll on my nerves. Honey you gotta get outta there. You should never let anyone abuse you in any way, that sh** ain't worth it. I know. I'm working on getting out of there. I'm just gonna miss Marlins baseball, period.
  2. Thank you guys for a wonderful and surprising season. See ya in '07!

  5. I have them and I renewed for next year.
  6. Here's the email that I sent to my friends in the front office: I know that you read the forums on marlinbaseball.com and I started a thread about what the diehard fans would like to see in terms of new marketing ideas. Some of the ideas are really good, especially about having something to commemorate the 10th anniversary of our first World Series Championship next year. Here are some examples of what the fans thought: 1) Put up team stores that aren't just glorified ports of stadium stores. For the Marlins, having one in Sawgrass Mills, or in Mizner park or in Palm Beach county to go with the one in Miami would start the whole process of getting the "logo out." Add stuff for the hardcore fan (throwbacks, autographs, tshirts) to go for the real purpose (ticket counter without the TicketMaster surcharges) is just a fantastic way to get exposure for the team and generate income for the team. 2) Embrace the past (hard to do given our spotted past) but with such rich history in the team's brief existence, using this as a springboard for the creation of "true" Marlin tradition is the way to go. I hope we do something for the 10th anniversary of '97 next season, and continue in that way as some of our more established players (Conine, Sheffield, Leiter, Brown) come closer to retirement or have already hung them up. 3) Fan "loyalty" program. I'm not sure how the teams I've seen do it (Padres, Dodgers) do it, but it involves somehow rewarding the fans for spending on the team. So much and you can go on a road trip with the team, get autographed stuff, etc. It's like a rewards program for rabidly obsessed fans. To me, goal #1 should be getting more Marlins hats on the heads of South Florida consumers than Yankee/Mets/Red Sox hats. _________________________________________________________________________________ I, for one, feel there needs to be more things geared towards women. Women make up a significant percentage of the attendance at ballgames. The Dodgers have a Women's Initiative Network and the Pirates have started a Lady Bucs Club. A few friends of mine and I are trying to start the Lady Marlins club. Ladies Nite needs to be changed somehow. I haven't figured out what I would do differently yet. As a female baseball player, it would make me feel more connected to the team if they had more things geared towards women who were interested in the game and not just the eye candy. _________________________________________________________________________________ for me I'd like to see better giveaways, and some other attractions at the ballpark. make it enjoyable to come out to the park. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Get the players on TV more. Even if that means buying them good seats for Heat game...just get them out there, so that people know who they are before they come to see a game, and they find out what they're doing. Lets get billboards with faces other than Miguelito & DTrain's too. And something better than "get hooked" or any variation thereof. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Good commercials get attention and people remember them. They don?t have to be expensive, just creative. Those of you in NY may remember an old Mets commercial with Mike Piazza walking around NY City going about his business, doing errands, etc. Everywhere he would go people would stop to give him advice on his swing, where to hit the ball, etc. They showed average New Yorkers from a little old lady crossing the street to a cop to a truck driver to a cashier (pulling out a bat from behind the counter, ?here, let me show you.?). Mike would look pensive and nod his head. I remember the cop saying ?are you listening to me, Mike?? and Mike saying ?oh yeah!? I thought that commercial was brilliant and I think it works best with a high recognition player like DTrain or Cabs. Some variation of that scenario is cute and makes the players seem ?real? or accessible. ___________________________________________________________________________________ in Atlanta they have/had the Bravo club...you swipe a card and get points. Sometimes, your an instant winner of a hat or yearbook or something, but as you rack up points, you get prizes (like what would be given away on scratch off saturday) Here's the reply: Hi Kim, thanks for the feedback. We are in the process now of collaborating internally on ideas and budgets for next season, and fan perspective is something that we sincerely value. I can assure you that each of the areas you mentioned have been and will continue to be throroughly discussed and where applicable, positive changes and new ideas are on the way. Take care. M. Britten Promotions Manager Florida Marlins, L.P. It's a step in the right direction, right?
  7. Someone should really type up a nice summary of this thread and send it to the Marlins' marketing reps. They may appreciate some fan input, and they're really good ideas. I just sent an email a few quotes from this thread to some of the folks I know in Sales, Marketing and the Community Foundation. Hopefully I will get some kind of feedback from them. If I do, I will post it.
  8. I like the billboard idea.
  9. No matter what happens, I love and am proud of each and every one of them!
  10. You know you're marketing department sucks when... 1) Your 2005 marketing slogan is GET HOOKED! 2) Your 2006 marketing slogan is GET HOOKED UP! :| :lol for me I'd like to see better giveaways, and some other attractions at the ballpark. make it enjoyable to come out to the park. you're right about that.
  11. I have plans to attend all 6 games.
  12. I had to order my Palmguard off the internet. Thank god I have it now that I've sprained my finger and I have to play in the Women's World Series next week.
  13. You know you're marketing department sucks when... 1) Your 2005 marketing slogan is GET HOOKED! 2) Your 2006 marketing slogan is GET HOOKED UP! :| :thumbup So true! Ladies night is a huge step. I don't think we can do the whole gender specific thing until we get down the concept of general fan support/incentive. Just taking a hint from teams I've seen (Red Sox, Mets, Yankees, Dodgers, Angels, Padres) 1) Put up team stores that aren't just glorified ports of stadium stores. So much and you can go on a road trip with the team, get autographed stuff, etc. It's like a rewards program for rabidly obsessed fans. Add to that typical business sense that we've seemed to ignore (don't criticize the venue or the consumers) and we should be taking baby steps. To me, goal #1 should be getting more Marlins hats on the heads of South Florida consumers than Yankee/Mets/Red Sox hats. The idea for a fan "loyalty" program is happening for season ticket holders. If their accounts have racked up like $15,000 or more they get rewards like a road trip, or dinner with the Marlins during the Caravan, and stuff like that. But it would be nice to have a program like that for regular joes like me. Although I have season tickets, I would never be able to rack up that much money.
  14. I think it was the middle of August or somewhere around there.
  15. Are you at the Batter's Box in Coral Springs? If you are, I think I have talked to you. I came in to buy a Palmguard protective glove and you had to call the Boca store.
  16. I've been reading a lot of posts where people are complaining about the Marlins marketing. I agree that it does need an overhaul. So, as diehard fans, what are things that you would like to see happen? I, for one, feel there needs to be more things geared towards women (and not those stupid pink jerseys. UGH!). As a female baseball player, I would make me feel more connected to the team if they had more things geared toward women who were interested in the game and not just the eye candy. Just my two cents.
  17. How much will Terrace box seats be? They are not even called Terrace Box anymore. Section 101 and 142 are called Field Boxes at $27 Advanced and $32 Gameday and 102-110 and 140-141 are called Bullpen Boxes at $22 and $27.
  18. I know I'm throwing in my two cents late, but, here are my pictures. Enjoy! http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l105/LadyMarlin71/th_HPIM0045.jpg
  19. So far this year, the first 100 females get a free Marlins T shirt. They are pretty nice - my wife got a Vargas (pink) in May and a Willingham (yellow) in June. The players name & number is across the back. Men can attend, but can't get a shirt (wouldn't want one - it says "Ladies Night" below the Marlins logo on the front). Also, there's a free raffle (one winner gets to toss the first pitch). I've been trying to win that prize for two years.
  20. This is one the weirdest games I've ever seen.
  21. batting practice jersey that said MOORE 71 on the back. We actually smiled at each other. I know who you are.. Ive seen you at the ballpark all the time... You sometimes sit near my season tickets.. Section 125 right? I reconize the "moore" BP jersey yep that's me. My season tickets are in 125. I volunteer for the Marlins Community Foundation and sometimes on the nights I work I will sit with the other volunteers.
  22. That's who you are! I was standing close to you when Miguel was signing and taking pictures. How cool is that? lol...who are you:)? I was the black lady with the batting practice jersey that said MOORE 71 on the back. We actually smiled at each other.
  23. If Admin is coming down this way during the summer, maybe we could have one when he's here.
  24. I would love to go but I can't hit or catch a ball for my life. Well, once I almost knocked my cousins head off when I hit a line drive up the middle. Don't worry about it. Go anyway. I promise you'll have fun. Yea. But I will be on vacation until July 26th . Bummer. I may or may not be able to go. I'm trying out for the USA Baseball Women's National Team and IF (BIG IF!) I'm invited to the National Trials, I'll be in Arizona that weekend. GOOD LUCK! :thumbup Thanks! I need all the luck I can get. Regional tryouts are at Roger Dean stadium June 17-18.
