  1. More like the death penalty. Dont you just love Florida? And they deserve it.
  2. Elijah Dukes was ejected in the ninth inning of Thursday's Dominican Winter League and had to be restrained from going after the umpire. As if he was really going to make it through the whole winter without a blowup. "It got a little ugly," said Jesus Campos, the vice president of the Cibao team Dukes was playing against. "If it wasn't for (teammate) Andy Tracy holding him back, things could have gotten a lot worse. ... It definitely wasn't a safe situation for the umpire because (Dukes) is a big guy." The Rays may have lost their top suitor for Dukes with the Nationals grabbing Lastings Milledge, though we imagine Jim Bowden would still be interested if he came cheap enough. Tampa Bay has an opening in right field for Dukes with Delmon Young gone, but it looks like the team would prefer to go in a difference direction. Link Elijahhhhhhhhhhh
  3. I like the deal but the Rays should have gotten a better bull pen arm than Rincon though. I love Garza though. Rays didn't get Rincon they got Eduardo Morlan instead. Eduardo Morlan Seems like a nice arm.
  4. Wow I didnt realize Barton's OBP was so high.
  5. I like the deal but the Rays should have gotten a better bull pen arm than Rincon though. I love Garza though.
  6. Yorvit Torrealba and Matt Herges returned to Denver today for physicals, multiple sources told The Denver Post, the final hurdle to both ultimately re-signing with the Rockies. The deals could be announced as soon as Thursday. It's impossible to overstate the significance of these moves as Colorado reshapes its roster this winter. It will leave second base as their only glaring hole if Kazuo Matsui, as anticipated, signs with the Cubs or Astros. Torrealba consistently delivered clutch hits in the playoffs and earned the respect of the entire pitching staff with his game-calling ability. He is expected to sign a two-year deal for approximately $7 million with an option year. There's no concern that his right shoulder will sabotage a deal, because, The Post has learned, he did not fail a physical with the New York Mets as widely believed 10 days ago. Herges became one of the bullpen's most reliable performers over the final two regular-season months and during the playoffs. He went 5-1 with a 2.96 ERA, and his three-inning outing against the San Diego Padres in the wild-card tiebreaker helped the Rockies earn only their second-ever postseason berth. When the winter began, the Rockies had hoped to bring back Herges on a one-year deal for around $2 million. With the recent windfalls of free-agent relievers, it's unclear if the Rockies had to increase their offer to keep him. The Rockies also remain interested in re-signing setup man LaTroy Hawkwins. Reached this afternoon, Rockies general manager Dan O'Dowd declined comment on Herges and Torrealba. Linky Thats that...
  7. One guy who doesn't look bad but may have been added to the 40-man is John Jaso of the D-Rays, a C who batted over .300 with over ten homers last year in AA. You know, I don't buy that this was a hit. Why would he be shot in the leg, and the second shot miss, if it were a hit? If it were a hit, wouldn't the person have tried to shoot Sean in the head or the heart? I think he was actually trying to rob the house, just a typical home invasion. When he saw Sean with the butcher knife, he freaked, shot wildly, and ran. Who knows? Maybe Sean was able to get to the guy and as he tried wrestle the gun away shots were fired and one of them hit him in the leg.
  9. Im guessing it would take something like Hughes, Melky, Tabata, and another prospect maybe Austin Jackson?

RIP Sean Taylor Life is too short. The man was just 24, just horrible.
  11. Gimme Chris Lubanski. I was looking at him and I believe he isn't rule V eligible because he was drafted when he was 18.
  12. I think Salty is eventually moving to 1b anyway I meant to bring this up as well. His defense is subpar. To me, Clement is the ultimate stud young catcher at the moment. The fact that his name was even mentioned this season along with Dontrelle (despite his struggles) strongly suggests the value that clubs place upon pitching at the moment. They will give anything for it, especially if the player doesn't run a risk of injury. Also let me remind you that Atlanta had to send over 3-4 other players along with Salty to get Teixeira. Bottom line is this, Dontrelle is still likely to command a lot on this market despite his struggles. That trade proposal is not outrageous but is not likely to happen just because Texas does not have a surplus of pitching at Salty is not a Beinfest player. Clements defense is suspect as well. Which is why I love Teagarden, even though he had TJ surgery he's still a very good defensive catcher and even though he K's alot his bat is still pretty awsome.
  13. It makes you wonder what the front office is thinking. The Mets are out of the picture so the Marlins can have Torrealba to themselves... Rockies?
  14. There is no chance in hell Krivsky deals Hamilton and Cueto for Willis. Hamilton for Willis, maybe. Krivsky... :mischief
  15. Gregg's gotta be worth a fortune in a trade :lol Srsly, and he's not worth what he's going to get in arby.
  16. A.J. Ellis is who we should go after this year in the Rule V draft. He's a catcher in the Dodgers system and this year was his first full year as a starter and he hit .269/.382/.409. He's always had a solid OBP (career .372 in the minors) and he's a very good defensive catcher to boot. He's 26 and I really like him I believe he'll be a very good starter in the bigs. Another guy I like is Jamie D'Antona from the D-Backs system. He hit .308/.363/.499 this season and he's played C, 1b, 3b. He's 25 and I like his bat but dont know how good he is defensively behind the plate. If he can play good D back there he's pretty much a steal for whoever picks him up. A career .290/.352/.472 in the minors.
  17. The Milwaukee Brewers today reached an agreement in principle with catcher Jason Kendall to a one-year deal that includes a vesting option for the 2009 season. Kendall will be added to the Brewers 40-man roster pending the passing of a physical next week in Milwaukee. The announcement was made by Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Melvin. Link
  18. Miller looks like Kool-aid 2.0. Nestor could make the pen. Miller can actually take a walk
  19. Estrada was going to be non tendered anyways. Brewers are going to sign Jason Kendall any day now.
  20. buh bye John Baker.
  21. .344 OBP for an MVP hooray
  22. So much for Lowell to the Dodgers.
  23. Soccer stadium in Hialeah~!~
