We did have a good fan base ..... up to 1997. If anyone remember, if you are old enough anyway, (or can find the stats online for attendance) you will remember that the stadium had always a decent amount of people until the first fire sale. The town just never regained trust on the management. Not even the 2003 WS helped that much.

There is only one way to know if Girardi is the difference maker in that clubhouse or if it is just a club with so much young talend that it was destined to turn itself around eventually and that way is to be a part of that team. We can only speculate here. What I HAVE SEEN is that Girardi has made some horrible managing mistakes during games that cost us some Ws. But I don't doubt he knows what he's doing most of the time.

When I first saw the thread title I thought you were talking about how german people like to wear "NY" baseball caps. I'm doing my semester abroad in Berlin right now and there is a ton of young people with Yankees caps and some with Mets caps on the streets. Of course I go up to them, being the a**hole that I an, and ask them to name 3 Yankee players or how do you score a run in baseball. They have no clue. Just like the NY symbol.

Penn State has the biggest alumni dues paying association in the country with almost 200,000 people and we travel extremely well. Plus Miami is one of the places where there are a LOT of PSU alumni. We outnumbered Oregon fans in the Rose Bowl in 94 We outnumbered Auburn fans in the capital one Bowl in 02 I'm not gonna say we will outnumber a team from the State where the game is but there will be half of the stadium in BLUE AND WHITE there. Yeah for me it was also that game in boston that we came back from a 7 run deficit. That was awsome even though I wasnt there, just watched it on TV all the Boston fans silent. And we went on to win the World Series afterwards.
