It may have been an ugly inning, but we all should've learned something from last night, it's FAR from over. BELIEVE!

Revisiting the Trade Deadline
I honestly think Amezaga has shown enough to be our regular CF. The dude may not hit many home runs but he's the definition of the word clutch. He is 3 for 22 in close and late situations. :lol I just got owned, nevermind. But it just seems like he's always had a big hit when we've needed it. Put it this way, he's been consistent, he's never been in a slump when he's had a chance to hit. Perhaps clutch was a bad word.

O's Threads Reaction
After we scored the winning run comes this gem: Not only do I feel like I was punched in the stomach...now I feel like I've been kicked in the balls (which is quite a feat in itself since I don't have any) :lol

FSN will re-air the 6/22 game starting at 3 a.m.
I'm the Australian dude who never gets to see the games, so I'm gonna buy it off MLB.com... judging from the game thread and the score, it's gonna be worth it. :thumbup

Anna Benson may be hot, but I don't care how hot you are, when you have an egotistical personality like she does, I could care less about her.

Big day tomorrow. Lineup?
Hanley - SS Uggla - DH Jacobs - 1B Cabs - 3B Hammer - LF Ross - RF Hermida - CF (Better in CF than Ross is. Or switch them, I don't care) Mezzy - 2B Treanor - C That would be one of our best line-ups all year.

RIP- Nine game win streak.
Yeah we had to lose sometime, and I'd rather lose now than to the Yanks. If we sweep the Yankees it will be an awesome feeling, and it will get so much media coverage as our payroll combined is smaller than a few of their players. Not saying it's gonna happen but the Yankees series is huge, everyone should be pumped for that.

Why is Aguila the DH? Why not Borchardt instead? Probably because he struck out 4 times last night...

I have a bad feeling about this game. /reverse psychology

Contention?
I have no doubt we'll continue to play well the next few months. But I do fear what will happen down the stretch. Most of the guys in our line-up and pitching staff aren't used to playing into September. Then again they're all young so they could be more energized, it's really hard to tell which way it will go. But that's the #1 factor IMO, how they will handle playing a full season.

Something Fishy is going on in South Florida
"When you can hear the other team's bullpen phone ring," reliever Joe Borowski said, "it's not a good sign." :lol

This may be a really stupid question, but I honestly don't know. I know that there can be fielding switches (like between CF and RF, etc) during a game... but if needed, can a DH move out into the field and someone take take the DH's spot? They could take the DH to the field, BUT the DH rule would be eliminated for that team for the rest of the game. Thanks. :thumbup

Joey Gathright Traded to the Royals
Why the HELL would the Royals trade for him when they have DeJesus in CF?

Past 30 days...
One thing that hasn't been talked about yet in terms of comparisons to years gone past. Last year, on the 18th of June, the Astros had a ONE GAME WORSE RECORD than we do. The Astros then went on to the World Series. I'm not saying we'll go to the World Series, but the Wild Card is definitely not out of reach. Food for thought...

Inside Dish: Expect Marlins to hang onto Willis
Some Marlins-related tidbits from this week's Inside Dish: Inside Dish: Expect Marlins to hang on to Willis By Mike Berardino - SportingNews One rival club executive predicts LHP Dontrelle Willis will stay with the Marlins. "I don't think they're going to trade him now," he says. "They can't. They're playing too well. If they keep this up, they might not be all that far from contending again. And once they get to that point, a No. 1 like Willis is exactly what they'll be looking for. Besides, if they keep him for next year, what will that push their payroll to . . . $18 million?" . . . A mid-market manager says clubs such as the Marlins and Devil Rays have the right idea. "Under the current system, it doesn't pay to be in the middle," he says. "You should either do it like George (Steinbrenner) does or take your payroll all the way down and build with kids. That way you have a chance to get good in a hurry." . . . One N.L. manager says the Cubs' window is just about closed. "I love (G.M.) Jim Hendry, but he got pressured into making some of those deals over there. He felt like he had to get a leadoff man, but (Juan) Pierre just isn't the same player he was a few years ago. They gave up three arms for him, but I wouldn't have given up (RHP) Ricky Nolasco for Pierre straight up." . . . LINK ------- :thumbup We really did rob the Cubs with the Pierre trade, it's a shame to see him go downhill so quickly.

Fulchino gets the call
Well I just think we shouldn't before we see how it actually pans out, that's all I mean. If he stinks up the joint then by all means, it will be a stupid move.
-
Fulchino gets the call
Who here has seen him pitch? Anyone? How can you criticize him without seeing him in the majors? Also, I find it EXTREMELY laughable to see anyone criticizing Beinfest, Girardi & co. after seeing what the team has done in the last month. Wait and see how it pans out before jumping all over the move.

Three Jays
Things against JJ going into today's game according to Yahoo!'s preview of the game: - Roy Halladay has won his last 7 starts. - Halladay has given up one walk in his last five starts COMBINED. - Halladay has also gone 10-1 in starts following a Toronto loss over the last two seasons. Yikes. If he wins this it will be a huge effort. Come on JJ!

Rumor: Marlins shopping for a CF'er.
This is the D-Rays we're talking about, they may buy it. :mischief Seriously though as much as I'd love Crawford we probably don't want to give up what it will take to get him.

Crawford for Petit, Herges and a mid-level prospect. Gitrdone.

BBTN
For the love of God can we just have an ESPN thread and post everything in there?!

Props to herges!
Ever since the condition of his newborn baby improved, it's no surprise to me that he's been pitching a lot better. It's a bit mystifying to me how not only he wanted to pitch when his child was in hospital, but that Joe wanted to use him as well. His mind clearly wasn't on the job in the early part of the season, and nor should it have been. I think he'll be extremely useful down the stretch especially if we stay in contention for the wild card, we'll need his veteran presence in the bullpen.

Who will pitch our first shutout?
I guess in years gone by we've been spoiled by shutouts from Beckett, Willis, A.J, Pavano, Penny, etc... and this year we still haven't had one, despite our starters being very consistent this year, and despite having the best team ERA in June (2.89). I think it's only a matter of time before it happens, so who do you pick? I'm tempted to go with JJ as he's been our ace lately, but I have a feeling that the D-Train isn't too far away from breaking one out so I'm gonna go with the D-Train.
