June 18, 200620 yr Jeffrey Fulchino, RHP, 28 yrs old, 6'5", 252# This season at AAA Albuquerque he's 2-4 with a 3.91 ERA. I think he was primary used as a starter. 13 games, 74 Innings pitched. 56 Ks vs 27 BB. Batters hit .266 against him. Only gave up 3 homers in those 74 innings. So he'd probably fit in as the long relief guy in place of Petit. Good idea to send Petit down to get his starts too. :thumbup
June 18, 200620 yr Do you know how they made room for him on the 40-man roster? That's what I would like to know too. Jeff Fulchino is an 8th round pick from the 2001 draft out of UConn. Not a big strikeout guy for his career. 2-4, 3.91era in AAA this year.

June 18, 200620 yr I would've liked to have seen Clontz get the call, but he's not the long man they're looking for.....as for Fulchino, anyone know why he's been shuttled between AAA and extended spring training so much this year (at least, according to the transactions page on the Isotopes website)?
June 18, 200620 yr Pretty Strange move, as Fulchino has no real future with this organization. I guess they just needed someone who wasen't a real prospect and a starter to sit in the pen so that Petit would actually get to work. Don't expect much out of this guy...
June 18, 200620 yr Fulchino's thrown a tremendous number of innings over the last couple of years and what he may be missing in raw talent he makes up for in experience. Two things immediately come to mind. First, Petit has been here obstensibly to watch and learn what's expected at the major league level with the expectation of him pitching in the bigs in August and September. Second, Fulchino may signal an imminent move in the bullpen of either Herges or Borowski, hopefully the former.

Let him get his work in and be ready to go come late August/early September I too wonder who is being taken off the 40 man roster. Just want to make sure. If someone is taken off the 40 man that means they are placed on waivers...correct?

June 19, 200620 yr That was my one guess Spud. I'd venture to say you are correct Nice of me to do some research.... There are two disabled lists in the majors. The 15-day disabled list forces teams to keep players out for a minimum of 15 days and does not count against the 25-man roster. The 60-day or Emergency disabled list requires a minimum of 60 days on the shelf and doesn't count against either the 25-man or 40-man roster.
