  1. Some comments from Sportscenter: "And the Marlins win in front of dozens" and my favorite: "Mike Lowell, boy are the Marlins missing him or what?" Now while Mikey is having a good year, considering Cabs is at 3rd base and considering we're on a long winning streak and have played great baseball over the last few weeks, I'm guessing the answer is no. Unless he can play CF we aren't missing him. Fenway has rejuvenated his career and I'm glad for him, but if he were still with us he wouldn't be playing as well as he is now. Some people just have no idea.
  2. I have a question, and in no way do I mean to insinuate we'll achieve it or even go close, but I'm just curious. What's the record for a consecutive winning streak? Didn't Oakland get close to it a few years ago?
  3. Hanley, Uggla and Jake... Do something good please . Thanks so much. I love it how Holly always talks to the players like they're reading this thread during the game. :lol
  4. Hanley Uggla Jake Cabs Ross Hermida Mezzy Treanor Olsen GO FISH!
  5. Top pick agrees to deal; signing bonus $1.525M By Juan C. Rodriguez MIAMI GARDENS ? The Marlins on Thursday agreed to terms with first-round draft pick Brett Sinkbeil, a right-hander out of Missouri State. Sinkbeil, who will receive a $1.525 million signing bonus, is expected in South Florida today for a news conference. He'll likely throw a bullpen session for the major league staff before attending tonight's game against the Blue Jays. A native of Sand Springs, Okla., Sinkbeil was selected 19th overall after going 5-1 with a 2.45 ERA in 11 games as a junior. Link
  6. Pedro Gomez said something about someone other than Barry Bonds?! Holy unbelievable Batman! He's clueless. He needs to go back and suck up to Bonds some more.
  7. In mathematical terms, potential wise... Resop < Messenger =< Kensing < Martinez =< Tank
  8. You have to try him in CF. I know he's played RF before and Hermida has played CF, but I wouldn't like to see him move from RF. Why not give the kid a shot in CF and see how it goes? But I agree, he deserves to keep starting. Hell, Helms should be starting too. What a great bench we'll have regardless.
  9. I know we have what 2 or 3 DHs in the 2nd half...but why have we played 5 or 6 fewer games? I thought the same thing. Maybe the season started a few days later this year? That's the only thing I can think of, although come to think of it we have had quite a number of off days so far, more than usual.
  10. I have a question I want to pose... Most of these Fish are straight up from the minors. Do you think the small crowds at home, which isnt a big departure from MiLB crowds, mixed in with the larger road crowds, has helped them assimilate to MLB faster? I know what you mean but I'm not sure if it would have had too much of an impact considering they play away half of the time in front of massive crowds. But I suppose there would be less pressure on them at home than say if they were playing in front of a capacity crowd.
  11. Those DP's are a thing of beauty.
  12. I doubt it. Ross and Mezzy are playing too well. I'd seriously consider starting Helms at LF more often too. Move Hermida to CF and Willingham to RF. Our defence would be HORRIBLE, but could you imagine a line-up of: Hanley Uggla Jake Cabs Hammer Helms Hermida Olivo Pitcher *drool*
  13. Look, I may be getting my hopes up here, but if we continue to play the way we've been playing, I think it would be absolutely foolish to trade him. I know it's all about building for the future but he could be CRUCIAL in a Wild Card race if we're still playing well around the trade deadline. Who knows what the team is capable of this year, considering how they've played the last month?
  14. Chris Aguila - OF - Marlins Marlins recalled outfielder Chris Aguila from Triple-A Albuquerque. Aguila hit .383/.434/.553 in 47 at-bats following his demotion to Triple-A. He'll battle Cody Ross and Joe Borchard for playing time in left while Josh Willingham is out. Rotoworld.com
  15. I would go for Andino. I'm not particularly high on him but give the kid a shot. Mezzy can play the outfield anyway if needed, plus we have Borchard and Ross to rotate in LF. Andino could be great late in the game as a pinch runner or defensive replacement.
  16. I'm glad to see Mezzy getting a legit shot in CF. I don't think he's had many opportunities, but when he's gotten them, he's taken advantage of it.
  17. When I saw the thread title I thought you meant they just traded for him. :plain
  18. For a start if Uggla was still on 3rd the likelihood of Jacobs getting the exact same pitch to hit out of the yard would be very slim, who's to say he wouldn't have had that homer? A lot of what ifs. The difference was our clutch hitting, not just that one play. Young was awesome. That's about it really.
  19. Moehler vs. Peavy. Great. :plain
  20. I don't know if we'd currently have any in the top 20 because most of our "stud prospects" are already in the major leagues. I'd say Sanchez, based on potential, would be the only one considered for such a list.
  21. Martinez is back and Tank is here! What a bullpen we're going to have: Borowski has been solid. Messy has been lights out for the past two weeks, same with Kensing. Tank has been unhittable down in AA. Martinez looks to be a stud if he can stay healthy. German has potential if they don't release him. Release Herges and Wellemeyer and demote one of Pinto/Petit and the bullpen is looking awesome.
  22. Off-topic post: Beckett just gave up two homers and is 3-1 down to Toronto in the first.
