  1. He kept playing, yes, but the adrenaline probably didn't wear off yet. Injuries can flare up once adrenaline wears off, that's why people wake up the next morning after a game and feel like crap. Not saying that's definitely what happened, but c'mon, it's more than a possibility. No need to jump all over Girardi without knowing the facts. Besides, AA had a solid game tonight.
  2. I guess no one remembers the look on Reggie's face when he swung at that low breaking ball and threw his back out last night. Anyone thought of that as a reason as to why he's not playing before jumping all over Girardi? Thought not...
  3. Awesome pitching and clutch 2-out hitting. Good job Marlins!
  4. Man, Reggie is looking so much better lately.
  5. Question: Do you think his mentality was affected by Girardi obviously instructing him to hit Soriano? He was basically asked to throw balls from the start, and then by the time he had plunked Soriano, he had to adjust to throw strikes again, and just wasn't able to make the adjustment... considering it was his first major league game since May. Perhaps if he wasn't asked to plunk Soriano and if he had tried to throw strikes from the start, it might have been a different outcome. Just a theory.
  6. Hahaha, the Washington announcers just got all pissed because it was called a strike... WHEN KEARNS SWUNG AT THE PITCH!!
  7. Florida Marlins (52-60) @ Washington Nationals (49-63) Wednesday, 7:05 p.m. ET By Michael Walsh / MLB.com Admist a swirling controversy between manager Joe Girardi and owner Jeffery Loria, the Marlins will continue their three-game series with Washington on Wednesday in a 7:05 p.m. ET contest. Girardi tried to downplay the Sunday meeting between himself and the Florida owner after the Marlins' 7-3 loss to the Dodgers, when he met with reporters prior to Tuesday's game with Washington. Reports from the South Florida media have claimed that the Marlins skipper's job was in peril after the meeting with Loria. Girardi will try to get the focus back on the field as he sends Dontrelle Willis to the mound. Willis is 9-3 against the Nationals in his career, with a 3.35 ERA, one complete game and one shutout. Ramon Ortiz will get the start for Washington. Ortiz is 1-2 against Florida in his career in four starts, with a 3.24 ERA. PITCHING MATCHUP FLA: LHP Dontrelle Willis (7-8, 4.05 ERA) Willis is 4-2 in his last six decisions. WAS: RHP Ramon Ortiz (8-9, 4.76) Ortiz has given up a home run in eight of his last nine starts. PLAYERS TO WATCH Alfredo Amezaga has three hits in five 2006 at-bats against Ortiz. ON THE INTERNET ? MLB.TV ? Gameday Audio ? Gameday ? Official game notes ON THE TELEVISION ? FSN ON THE RADIO ? 8. Oh man, if he stayed healthy, Foulke could have a monster season here.
  9. Kerry Wood. I'm dead serious. I still think he has the makings of an awesome relief pitcher, all his injuries have come about when his arm has gotten too tired after 60-70 pitches. I remember him having a stint in the Cubs bullpen when he was working back his strength last year, and a few times I saw him, he was filthy. I reckon it would be worth a gamble, on an incentive laden deal, as he won't be returning to the Cubs.
  10. The MRI revealed no injury, he's just suffering from arm fatigue. If he was injured, the trade never would have happened. IMO it sounds like the Reds are regretting this trade and are just trying to make excuses. Why they traded Lopez, Kearns and Wagner for what little they received in return is beyond me anyway.
  11. Did you know that Florida will not have any pine trees in 15 years? :plain
  12. Florida (51-60) @ Washington (49-62) Tuesday, 7:05 p.m. ET Following one of his worst outings of the season, Ricky Nolasco will likely welcome the chance to face the Nationals again. In his last start, Nolasco went just two innings, allowing four runs on eight hits against the Mets. It was his second straight loss against New York. In contrast, facing the Nationals gives Nolasco a chance to revisit one of his better starts. On July 17, Nolasco allowed just one run on four hits over seven innings. Taking the mound against Nolasco will be Tony Armas Jr., who has gone 1-3 in his past four decisions. The Nationals and Marlins have split their meetings so far this season, with each team winning six games. The Marlins took two out of three in their last meeting July 17-19. PITCHING MATCHUP FLA: RHP Ricky Nolasco (9-7, 4.23 ERA) Before his last outing against the Mets, Nolasco had gone at least seven innings in his past three starts. WAS: RHP Tony Armas Jr. (7-7, 5.16 ERA) Armas has given up 12 runs in his last 6 2/3 innings. PLAYERS TO WATCH Ryan Zimmerman is 30-for-75 (.400) with runners in scoring position since June 6. His 45 hits with runners in scoring position leads the Majors. ON THE INTERNET ? MLB.TV ? Gameday Audio ? Gameday ? Official game notes ON THE TELEVISION ? Sun Sports ON THE RADIO ? 13. Somewhere, someplace, Spike is sobbing uncontrollably...
  14. *edit: nevermind*
  15. This was, IMO, our best series of the year, considering the level at which our opponents have been playing at. We were so close to sweeping all three games too! This team is just awesome.
  16. Yikes, 6 runs in an inning...
  17. Miggy has one of the sweetest swings in the league.
  18. Lastings Molestidge? :lol I laughed.
  19. Man, we have a TON of games left against the Phillies. I still don't know if that's a good or a bad thing.
  20. Hammer is on freaking fire. What a finish.
  21. Walk off, 3-run homer as the Sox beat the Indians 9-8. Seriously, how good is he? I've never seen a bigger clutch hitter.
