sorry im simply amazed
Well, if you do a firesale you're by nature rebuilding. However, you don't have to have a firesale to rebuild. Firesales are mighty gay. Rebuilding is part of the cyclical nature of the market. Firesales are "mighty gay", but while rebuilding is part of the average team's cycle, commiting firesales is in the Marlins cycle...

sorry im simply amazed
There's a difference between a firesale and rebuilding. I think the Marlins are doing both...

Problem with Beckett deal?
The 72-hour period ended earlier today, but the article on the Marlin's website says the league wil grant the teams an extra day because today was a holiday....what exactly happens if the trade isn't finalized by tommorow?

Marlins Encore on FSN -- 2005 Opening Day game replay
seems like yesterday. It really does... A Juan Encarnacion grand slam coupled with a brilliant 6 innings by Josh!!!

Rotoworld's Take on Delgado Trade
Looks like Grant could contribute in the future, i'm loving this trade more and more

Questioning the State....
I still don't know why 1 of the billionaires living in Miami Beach just coughs up some money. The Fish would just name the stadium after whoever paid and everything would be happy

Problem with Beckett deal?
Trading Beckett is ridiculous, but blame Mike Lowell and his steroids!!!

Is HanRam the best prospect in the Marlins system now?
I think Pie would have a higher ceiling than HanRam, but both have a lot of progressing to do...

Best prospect???
With all the new trades that have brought in all types of prospects, who is THE BEST minor leaguer in the Marlins system?

Questioning the State....
WOW....i hate the state government

Pierre to Cubs a definite?
I can't believe we didn't get Felix Pie in the deal!!!! We need future outfielders and he would have been perfect!!!
-
Future 2B
I didn't mean the prospects turned into nothing, I mean that at the time of the trades, there was no optimism at all. At least now we can see the light at the end of the tunnel and there is some excitement to see these kids play. No one was excited about 1998 People are minimally excited about 2006

People Just Don't Care
This is what people don't see.....A baseball stadium is a performing arts center!!!! :thumbup

A few questions if you don't mind
You are right by saying more pieces will be added once Pierre and LoDuca are shipped, and as they are more "players of the future" questions will be answered. Jeremy Hermida (RF), Miguel Cabrera (3B), Hanley Ramirez (SS), and Mike Jacobs (1B) will all man there positions in a Marlins uniform for the long run (barring any unforseen transactions)... The starting rotation will fill out nicely and figures to include all those young guns who have been maturing in the minors...Dontrelle, Vargas, Olsen, Josh Johnson, Anibal Sanchez, Yusmeiro Petit, Chris Volstad, and maybe even Jeff Allison seem to be primed for the rotation very soon... Questions at catcher (Treanor is the perfect backup, Willingham lacks the defensive abilities), Second Base (Castillo may stay and anchor the infield), and in the outfield (Aguila, Abercrombie, and Reed will be in the mix) will presumably be answered by the next series of trades the Fish induce...

Future 2B
I think most people (including the Marlins organization) have already given up on South Florida, they may be rebuilding this team for an inaugural 2009 squad with championship potential
-
Future 2B
permanently destroy...quite harsh This firesale is not as bad as 1997 because a lot of the trades back then were for pure nobodies. At least Beinfest is getting top notch prospects back in this dismantlement.
-
LoDuca to Arizona?
Kelly Shoppach is a catcher in the Red Sox system who had a .507 Slugging % in AAA-Pawtucket last year. He had 26 bombs and 75 rbi in just under 400 ABs. He is 25 years old and strike outs 3 time to every walk. His .352 On-Base is impressive for a young backstop, with his .252 AVG souring me on him
-
Are we done?
Beckett, Lowell, and LoDuca 4 Granderson, Verlander, and Pudge!!! I LOVE YOU IVAN!!! (but i dont love that contract)

If this franchise were to relocate..
Although I was born and raised in South Florida, the Marlins will still be my team if/when they move. The way I look at it is that no matter where the team calls home, they will still be the same organization that brought South Florida 2 championships. They may not be apart of the community anymore, but I will still remember the joy that the Florida Marlins provided me, and that joy will be appreciated even if they move. Contraction would just sour me on Major League Baseball for a long time...
-
Are we done?
Why are the Marlins looking outside the organization for a catcher?? Toby Hall is already 30 and shouldn't even be considered as the backstop of the future... Does the organization not think that Willingham can provide at cacther now and down the line?
-
Problem with Beckett deal?
I just puked in my mouth a little bit...whether Ramirez lives up to the hype or not, he surely has more to offer in the present and future than Andino or Wilson
-
Problem with Beckett deal?
Ok so say that this trade doesn't go through, then who will be the everyday guy at SS next year?
-
Planning for the future....
Maybe the FO knows what its doing.... Of the 8 positional spots, 6 of them have players who can be successful long term that are already on the team... C - Josh Willingham (why not??) 1B-Mike Jacobs (plain out stud, hold on to this guy for the long run) 2B-Luis Castillo (let him finish his career with the Fish, he can be the veteran anchor on a successful team in a couple of years) SS-Hanley Ramirez (he will be the everyday guy this year, and hopefully will get the growing pains out sooner than later) 3B-Miguel Cabrera (you know him) RF-Jeremy Hermida (still young, but will be a monster) CF/LF - Number of options....Aguila/Abercrombie (a few years away), I would aim to receive some prospect outfielders for Pierre and LoDuca (how about Felix Pie??)
- Moving along...
