  1. WHAT HAPPENED WITH SOLANO GUYS!!!! The screw up? 2 outs, runners on the corners after an intentional walk, ball hit back up the middle, great diving stop by the SS, throws it to the 2B who doesn't step on the bag for the 3rd out ... and instead tries to make the tag. It was comical he almost stepped on the bag TWICE by accident, but he came through like a champ and missed the bag and the runner.
  2. TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED!!!! The screw up? 2 outs, runners on the corners after an intentional walk, ball hit back up the middle, great diving stop by the SS, throws it to the 2B who doesn't step on the bag for the 3rd out ... and instead tries to make the tag. 3. solano how about you put your f-in foot on the bag when your SS makes an awesome play He was trying to make the tag. Totally brain dead.
  4. I mean there really isn't a "new core." Brantly, Jose and Adieny are the only ones with a future on this team. All the rest of the new core guys are still in the minors and everyone on the team currently is a buncha stop gaps. Yes, but they are core stopgaps.
  5. You shouldn't have moved. You should of got up, yelled "s**t is about to get real!", and rushed those Braves fans Gaby Sanchez-style. Swinging and missing with a bat and falling ass first on a syringe full of sea otter testosterone? There's nothing funnier than frustrated sports fans.
  6. please buy the team jeb bush. please. That would be awesome. Not going to happen! If Jeffy lost money he would sell this in a heartbeat, that's why I think it's bs he lost money last year. With the Marlins recent history of being upfront and honest about the dollar numbers do you really think he would tell us about how much he lost or made. which is why deadspin needs to get some solid evidence and selig can finally have enough to push him out. also, can we try to get thousands of signatures to sign a petition to oust loria. if we get enough it may get coverage.....Admin wanna help get it started? i mean look at how they forced frank mccourt out and loria gets to run wild. If you want to get rid of Loria, you have to cost him money. No petition will do that. You'd be better off starting a boycott of companies that advertise during Marlins broadcasts. Dry up the revenue streams, and he will sell.
  7. Are we having a thread for this every night? The mods should delete every negative post on this board ... just to see what is left when they are done.
  8. Get a beautiful new 600 mill stadium built ... It's amazing that taxpayers aren't more grateful for the $2.4 billion stadium they were forced to build for Loria.
  9. What's so hard to understand here? The Marlins have absolute dominion over conduct at the stadium. Of course they don't toss people for wearing other teams' merchandise. But, they're perfectly well entitled to toss anyone who is doing anything that they object to. Simple stuff. What will be interesting is what happens when a lot of fans start wearing bags on their heads, which may happen soon. Pretty soon the Marlins are going to have to resort to giving these guys discounts to show up to the game. Maybe have a giveaway where the first 5000 fans get professionally designed "Loria is a bum!" poster boards to hold up during the game.
  10. It's way too early.
  11. Rich and Tommy resorting to the blow out material. For those who don't know Evan Gattis story it's pretty good. Guy took a crazy road to the bigs. They're going to have to hire writers at this rate. No one has this much blowout material.
  12. That was a really fun game. I have to say, things are going unexpectedly well. Thanks for the laugh.
  13. Despite our best efforts, the Miami Marlins have yet to hit a home run at Marlins Ballpark. Unfortunately this means that fans have so far missed out on the colorful display of our home run monstrosity. When will we see our flamboyant and expensive home run feature come alive this season? Be the one to predict it an win bragging rights. I'll be the first to take a stab at it: April 12 when we host the Phillies in town for the first game of the first series against them. Maybe they should start turning it on for extra base hits.
  14. It is not a Miami fans problem, it is an ownership problem. I talked to a lot of people at the ballpark and their main complaint was that they feel Loria doesn't give a sh*t about them or about the team. It's both the fans and ownership. FO went out and spent last year, people still didn't show up. They spent in 05, people didn't show up. The casual fan has made excuse after excuse after excuse not to go, they had none last year until mid-June when the team started to tank. It's not just the ownership. And he spent (prospects) at the '03 non-waiver trade deadline. And he got the stadium built. Most alleged "fans" are idiots. Not one of them can stand a 47 mill loss, yet they all bitch and moan as if they could and a 47 mill loss is nothing and should be ignored. That ain't the way it works. Loria obviously cares about winning and he'd be wise to just ignore the crackpots. His latest PR campaign is probably a waste of time and money. Just let the plan work over the next couple of years. Whether fans will ever show up here, even for a winner remains to be seen and Loria has very little to do with it. Not everyone enjoys being in an abusive relationship. There used to be Marlins fans ... but most have been turned off and chased away. It's very possible that those fans have had enough and will never be back, but it's ridiculous to claim that 3 to 4 months worth of overspending for mediocre talent proves anything other than that Loria never had any intention of following through on his promise to increase our payroll if the public coffers were pilfered to build him a new stadium.
  15. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/blog/eye-on-baseball/22032264/marlins-fans-with-protesting-signs-shirts-ejected-from-stadium Apparently the Marlins ejected a couple of fans from the home opener who were holding signs and wearing shirts saying Free the Marlins and that the Marlins have been "Helping other teams get better since 1998." The Marlins/Samson are saying the fans were causing a disturbance and didn't show ID when requested, but that they weren't ejected because of their signs and shirts. Meanwhile the fans say they were calm and orderly, never created a disturbance, and weren't asked for ID until they were already out of the ballpark. The fans also claim that police officers even said something to the extent of "'they' want you out, if it was up to us you're ok because you're doing nothing wrong." Not sure who to believe here, the fans seem civil but then again, even with all their trickery the Marlins don't usually eject fans for no reason. Thoughts? When you show up at someone else's party looking to spoil it, you should expect to get tossed.
  16. the photos on ESPN for the game are kind of sad as well ......... seems like half of them are to highlight the stands, where most games you get shots of the actual game http://scores.espn.go.com/mlb/photos?gameId=330409128&page=1 The attendance is a much bigger story than the game. Loria is fielding a AAA team, and the fans are responding with a high school crowd.
  17. So if they win 67 and end up in last place what will be the mantra from the front office ? More bang for the buck? :Batter
  18. Loria probably doesn't care if anyone shows up. It will get his attention and that of MLB. It's the only thing that will.
  19. I know I said I would not do anything to put money in Loria's pockets, but I already broke that promise. Watching these guys struggle over the last two days has me concerned, and I fear that our attendance might be bad. So for what it's worth, I am determined to make it a little less empty ... I'm confused. I thought the point of a boycott was to ensure that the stadium would be as empty as possible?
  20. http://deadspin.com/5978964/the-real-cost-to-miami-for-marlins-park-is-in-the-billions Round 2. $2.4 billion is crazy money. Politicians should go to jail for that.
  21. But then Samson said in a televised interview he didn't care if Broward and PBC fans only went to 5 games a year. Isn't that about the combined amount Broward and PBC fans went to anyways? Besides you, of course. Bro, don't you remember how they filled JRS for years? They are the real fan base.Ah you're right. I'm sorry. Either you guys don't get it or you just don't get it. Simple Biz 101.......You don't push any loyal customer base away, no matter how small, just because you move a few miles and concentrate on another customer base that was never loyal anyway. How many times, just on these boards, did we hear Dade residents telling everyone how they were going to show all the other counties how to attend and support a baseball team when this new palace was being built? Well now they have about the same type team that JRS almost always had, but with a far superior ball park. Distorted civic pride and/or machoism be damned, time to put up or shut up. Who the hell goes to a game to see the ballpark? That's the wine and cheese crowd, not the fans.
  22. Oh please. Enough with this "Loria sucks, so the ballpark deal sucks" crap. The stadium was necessary for whomever owned the team. If Wayne or John Henry still owned the team, the ballpark deal would look pretty much exactly the same. You can hate Loria for a lot of reasons, but the ballpark is not one of them. It's the one thing that he's done right as an owner. The ballpark will be here long after Loria owns the team and if Braman wasn't involved, the ballpark would have opened a year earlier and we'd be a year closer to Loria selling the team. The ballpark deal sucks on it's own merit. The fact that it is enriching an SOB at the expense of the community just makes it that much worse. And no it's not the one thing he's done right. He'd have to suck a Glock for that. The ballpark should have never been publicly financed. There is no excuse for spending $2.4 billion of taxpayer funds to enrich a handful of people and entertain a tiny fraction of the community.
  23. People can be upset the money couldn't have been used in a better fashion...or that the municipal politics is garbage here. But that would seem like losing focus of our hatred. Pitchforks still available for Loria and Samson. The pitchforks should be out for the politicians that allowed Loria to loot the community. I for one am glad he swindled YOU out of $360 million. A fool and his money soon part. He ... you ... whoever.
  24. It was Tourist tax dollars, not OUR tax dollars. There is a difference. If you can't realize it then there is no hope for you. Once again, unless you stayed at a hotel in Miami-Dade during the last 4 years, then you did not pay for the stadium. To continue to assume otherwise is asinine. No, there isn't a difference. Every tax dollar collected is OUR tax dollar. Every tax dollar that gets spent on crap is a dollar that can't be spent investing in the community.
