  1. Hopefully the comp pick and extra third we get in this draft fo AJ leaving will work out to be good players:) In a way you can't blame Toronto for taking such a risk though, having to compete with the Yankees and Red Sox each year would drive you to desperation.
  2. If the Marlins do decide to trade Willis (not saying thats a good thing), then I would hope any deal would include a young catcher. A deal with the dodgers would be my preference. Russ Martin is playing well as the backup catcher there, he was no.42 in BA's top 100 prospect list this spring. The Dodgers have a bunch of other good prospects to add too, guys like Broxton who are major league ready.
  3. The difference this year is that if Borowski has a really good first half, chances are we'll trade him after the all star break, or at the deadline. We probably wouldnt be in the market to retain his services in the offseason if his numbers are good enough, so moving him for some more prospects would make sense. It'd be nice to rip off another team for an average reliever instead of the other way around for once:)
  4. At least going by what Baseball America is saying, its a lousy year for HS prospects in the first couple of rounds anyway. Looks like it'll be a college pitcher heavy first round, and chances are we'll be one of the teams going in that direction. http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/askba/261098.html
  5. Whilst there is still a delay in the action, thought i'd mention Jose Garcia is taking a no hitter into the seventh inning down in Jupiter. Box Score Jinx :banghead Yup jinxed, in a way. Right after I posted, they went into a rain delay.

  7. In Burns' defense, he is only 19 years old and was in high school not too long ago. The hitters tearing it up right now are all guys with time spent in college, and are around 22/23 years old. For guys coming out of college ball, they pretty much have to dominate in low a to be considered possible future major league everyday players (so the fact they are is a good sign). Burns on the other hand is going to have some struggles this year, without it hurting his long term potential status. The big test for these college guys will be how they perform in Jupiter when the promotions start to come. You can see already this year how going from hitter friendly Greensboro to the pitcher friendly FSL is affecting guys in Jupiter, its a really good test that should help show which ones have a shot in double a and beyond. Oh and one name that kind of falls in between age wise is the 21 year old Agustin Septimo at ss. We picked him up in the minor league portion of the rule V draft this year, and he is hitting for average and power while adding in 3 SB as well. Whilst his defense sounds shaky (i'll defer to anyone who has been to the games for opinions there), he might be turning things around career wise and could be worth watching if he can make the jump to Jupiter later this year.
  8. Barone wasnt just hitless in his six innings, he was perfect. No hits, no walks, and six strikeouts to boot. He is a week or so away from his 23rd birthday though, so he needs to perform like that in low a if he is going to move up quickly.
  9. He gave up two of the four walks in the first inning, and it seems he struggles the most at the start, then settles down. Just two hits in six innings is still good, and he is getting the strikeouts as well so signs point to a good chance of a bright future. If he walked four, but only struck out a couple, i'd be a lot more concerned. Of course the minor league season is not yet one week old, and its premature to make any major judgements for a good while yet on the new prospects.
  10. Its 15 bucks to watch them online, but you dont get the rights to actually own the broadcast unless you pay an extra price for each individual game. Whether its right or not, thats the situation.
  11. mlb.com has a digital download service, here Digital Downloads I know how to capture real media streams, but not windows media, at least off the top of my head. The only legal way though is through mlb.com and the pay and download service. Oh and I wont post here how to rip realmedia streams, its illegal:)
  12. Third game of the year, and another walk off homer by Gaby Sanchez! Completed a five for five night for him, and he is 9-15 with 3 homers and 10 rbi to start the year. Looking forward to the from the game comments:)
  13. The mlb.tv window uses an activex plugin to work wmp. If using Firefox, you need to download the following file to your desktop Activex Plugin Then drag and drop it into your firefox browser window to install. When done, restart firefox and mlb.tv should work fine.
  14. It seems this year that they are running both the home and away team video feeds for each game, but its entirely random as to which one you will get. Its worth reloading the player a few times if you want the Marlins feed and it doesnt come up right away.
  15. With all the talented pitchers on the Greenboro squad, its also clearly got the highest ceiling group of position players in the system as well, will be fun to follow. Gaby Sanchez and Andy Jenkins both had key homers late on that swung the game. As for Volstad last night, the 6-1 k to bb ratio is still promising. It was a very similar start for most of our pitchers in the minors last night, Sanchez, Hernandez, Pinto all struggled with their command, but also looked good at times. They should all settle down and do better next time out. Jesus Delgado did well in relief for the Hammerheads last night on the plus side, he struck out four in two hitless innings. Oh and on an unrelated note, Jai Miller went 1-2 with a double, a run scored, and walked twice last night. Oh and zero strikeouts to boot.
  16. I think locally the Iowa broadcast lost their own feed at the stadium, its back now. Topes had men on 2nd and 3rd with one out, Stokes struck out looking, Cepicky grounded out tho. There is an MiLB gameday like the mlb one, try MiLB Gameday
  17. You can still get a free audio feed, but its Iowa Cubs home broadcast only. I'm guessing getting the video feeds in and working at smaller facilities is going to be tricky, so no shock the video seems to be gone. Andino leads off with a single:)
  18. Moehler is the stop gap until those guys mature. I wouldn't be surprised to see Moehler switch to the bullpen once Johnson or Petit are ready at mid-season or so. If Moehler has a decent first half and assuming we're out of contention, he could also bring in a bit of value in a deadline deal too.
  19. The White Sox would be another possibility. I think Alex's defense will find him a job np, once the arbitration deadline (today) passes teams should start courting him.
  20. If Burnett signs with the Blue Jays, we'll only get a sandwich pick and a third rounder, as Toronto's second rounder is already gone due to the B.J Ryan signing (Ryan got a higher Elias rating). Toronto's first round pick is within the top 15 picks so they keep that no matter who they sign.
