  1. From todays palm beach post: Now, Beinfest is looking to spend more of owner Jeffrey Loria's money. Beinfest, who said Wednesday that any moves that add to the payroll must be signed off by Loria, said Friday the team may not be through dealing. "We're very pleased but we are not going to sit around," Beinfest said. "We are going to stay active and we're taking a contingent to the All-Star Game. We're on the look." The Marlins could be seeking one more right-hander for the bullpen and possibly a power hitter, preferably from the left side. The team inquired about the Mets' Armando Benitez, but Benitez is reluctant to give up his closer's role. To make room for Urbina, the Marlins outrighted pitcher Allen Levrault to Albuquerque.
  2. They overpaid for Ugeth pretty badly...But If he gets them into the playoffs It's probably worth it.
  3. Personally, I'm not so convinced as you guys are...Good 2nd basemen are alot harder to find than good OFers/ How many 2nd basemen are better than Castillo? 5? 6? How many OFers are better than Juan? 30? 40? I like em both...But I'm just not too sure which one would we'd be better off keeping if we had a choice.
  4. Only ONE of Castillo or Encarnacion, who would you pick? And why?
  5. It's probably not false information. All the article said was the Mets plan to ASK For Gonzalez...Beinfest will(or should) laugh in their face when they make that attempt.
  6. Burnitz has 18 HR and is batting .287...How the hell is that a "stiff"? He's the only Met worth a damn right now, He had a rough year last year, but he's been a consistent 30-35 HR guy before, the only downfall is the strikeouts. Very good defensively. If he wouldn't cost too much(which he won't since hes a FA to be), He'd be an EXCELLENT pickup for a run for the playoffs. Cabs would go back to the minors to get some more seasoning and come back up next year after Jeromy leaves. He'd be a great pickup
  7. The way Adrian G. is playing we couldn't get a pack of gum for him if even if threw in fifty cents. He's already failed at AAA, goood luck getting anything for him Mr. GM. :thumbdown Oh, So since a 21 year old isn't lighting up AAA Ball he's worthless now? Give me a break. Not every prospect is like Cabrera or Willis where they tear through the minors, AGonzo and Stokes will both have their ups and downs on route to the pros, But they are two of the best prospects in baseball right now and are like gold in the trade market. They'd fetch a ton if Beinfest moved either, which he shouldn't unless he gets a superstar who would be here longer than one year.
  8. Alex Gonzalez breaks out of his miserable slump and gets the MVP honors
  9. He'll never play SS? He only did for his entire life up untill what, one/two years ago? And that means what? Nothing. I realized that by big it doesnt mean height wise. Cabs is going to add some serious bulk to that frame severely limiting the range/agility needed for SS/2B. I can't put it any clearer so if you still disagree...we'll have to agree to disagree . Would love to claim Jimenez off waivers...we all know Jack wont take his s***. Kent is 6'2 215 and plays the position just fine...He may not have the range a speedster like Luis does, but we don't need a gold glover at every position. As long as Cabrera was responsible and not a total nightmare at 2B, having his bat there for the next decade would be such a huge boost.
  10. I've read a lot of bad things about Jimenez, He's very lazy and unmotivated..We don't want that type here. Here's a CRAZY idea...so be gentle, But how about moving Cabrera to 2b? That would allow us to acquires good LH power bat for the OF and give us an awsome bat at 2B. He'll probably struggle defensively at first, but he;s a great athlete and could probably make the adjustment. Remember, he was signed as a SS And came up as a 3B, harder positions to play than 2B... We could then get a LFer that could play here 1-3 years and then Stokes can replace him if he is indeed moved to a corner OF. Am I out of my mind? Ive heard reports that hes too BIG for 2B, but im not sure how that would affect his play there. Ramp seems to think its ridiculous to play him there, but hasnt given any good enough reasons for me :lol He's 6'2...Why would that be to big? Plenty of guys are that big and play the position well. Jeff Kent, Soriano, Adam Kennedy, etc. etc. Do you have to be a certified midget to play 2b or something?

  12. we are still in 2nd to last place Arnie we are 7 games over with mcKeon i believe I didn't mean in the division, I meant overall. The only team worse than us at one point was the Tigers. Even the friggen Devil Rays had a better record than we did at one point...
  13. If we just keep playing the way we have under McKeon, We'll make the playoffs. Anyone have our record under McKeons watch? I wouldn't be surpised if we were 10-15 games over .500...We were in 2nd to last place before Torborg was fired...
  14. Let me also add Willis had an ERA Over 7 before going on this 7 game winning streak, So maybe Cabs will be able to adjust like Dontrelle did and perform well.
  15. Don't change his batting stance...It's identical to Brian Giles' and he's doinmg just fine to put it mildy. He just has to learn, but skipping AAA may not have been the smartest thing to do...Give him another week or two and if hes still batting under the mendoza line you got to send him back down...
  16. You can clearly see his potential, But he's batting .176 with 1 HR and 6 RBI...Even when he hit the walk off HR he was 0/4 or 0/5 that game before hitting the bomb...I just don't want to see this kid rushed and have him lose all his confidence,
  17. He's been struggling the last few games, And I Think it has to do with fatigue more than anything else...He hasn't had a day off in decades. Let Mordecai start tomorrow and give AGon a well deserves rest.
  18. I've always been a fan of Alex's, Even when he was incapable of hitting a beachball at the plate. He's probably the best SS in the NL right now, although he's been struggling a little bit as of late, It's probably due to fatigue since he hasn't been given a rest in decades.
  19. Wayne does throw a curveball, and If i remember correctly it was the only pitch that was half-way effective when he was called up..

  21. I don't know about White...He hasn't had 20+ HR since 1999...If we're going to spend 5-6 mil on someone we might as well make it worthwhile...We need a big time RBI guy to seriously compete...Bring Brian Giles here! He's a bargain at $8 mil IMO.
  22. Is there any competition for the ROY award? The only one that comes to mind is Seo....and I think teams will start to learn how to hit him the second time around, alot like what happened with Tejera the second half last season.
  23. Oh please Cape...You go from ripping Penny saying he should be demoted to AAA, then asking the Reds for Adam Dunn or the Stros for Dotel? What kind of contradiction is that? All 3 teams would LOVE to have Penny, but that doesn't mean the Reds would give up their franchise players or the Stros would give up the best setup man in the game for him. Penny is a good #3 guy right now. Dotel had a 5-6 ERA when he was moved to the Pen..He was moved there because he was prone to big innings and coming out of the pen would reduce those, and it obviously worked....totally different situation. And BTW, If we somehow got Dotel, He'd be our closer over Looper easily, no matter how well Looper has done this year. Dotel is just sick...unfortunatley for him he has a top 5 closer in Wagner ahead of him.
  24. I've been a big Gonzalez fan even when he was batting .220 year in year out, So I may be baised, but... I feel Gonzalez is the best run producer this team has. I'd like to see stats of players with RISP, but I'd be pretty shocked if Gonzalez didn't have the best average and DLee had one of the worst. I Can't stand Lee and his routine chokejob when he comes up to bat in a crucial situation. All his homers seem to come in blowout situations. Pudge hasn't been that great either, but he still comes up with some reasonably big hits, and doesnt crumble up into a ball when pressure is on like Lee does. AGon should be batting 3rd IMO. How he has 50 RBI batting 7th/8th all year long is pretty incredible to me...He'd probably have 60+ If he was batting higher in the order.
  25. I've been reading around here for a couple of weeks...But this thread finally got me to register. Even suggesting to demote Penny to the bullpen or minors is one of the dumbest proposals I've seen. Penny had an ERA of 3.47 before yesterday, which is pretty damn impressive. Even with yesterday's embarassing performance, he STILL has a respectable 4.07 ERA. Teams like the Reds, Astros, Cardinals would kill to get a Penny to stabalize their rotation. What makes you think their wouldn't be a suitor for him? 95% of the teams out there would love to have him int he middle of their rotation. He's a good #3 guy right now with the potential to be a good #2. Our starters have been the least of our problems...
