  1. I don't know what these are. Are these defensive sabermetric type stats of some sort?
  2. I miss McKeon, he would have hit Reed 8th and/or made him bunt every time up.
  3. Let's go Rick! It's on local TV here in the LA metro area, so there are quite a few Dodger fans cheering for the Marlins tonight, at least for 7 or so innings. :gofish
  4. We all know he got hurt simply because he was the ace of my fantasy squad. It's like the Madden curse. :banghead No, I don't have any Marlins this year. **EDIT: I also drafted BJ Ryan and Dave Roberts. On top of that, Carpenter is a class act. Take off the teal colored glasses. You say that as if Dontrelle isn't. I agree with you Admin, but he did kinda get rolled for that whole drunk driving/pissing in the street deal recently. Bet he's glad the wifey has a law degree.
  5. I'm surprised alcohol was ever allowed in the clubhouse in the first place. Unless it's champagne and you just won something. On ESPN they were saying how it's a very common thing for players to sit around after the game, hang out and drink beer, thought that was interesting. I think this is an overreaction from clubs. Overreaction? A MAN WAS KILLED One man, for his own selfish and dumb mistake and he wasn't just legally drunk. If the teams want to do this, fine, but I hate that the hundreds of responsible guys are being punished mostly because of this recent event. Not to single anyone out but wasn't it Dontrelle Willis who was just arrested for public intoxication? Not very responsible. And I know you're not a Marlins fan. My point is not just this event that caused this. Over the years, there have been countless events amongst every sport linked to alcohol and abuse of alcohol. In the past couple weeks, a man was killed and a drunk fan fell on a woman and nearly crushed her. I don't care how much of a past time it is to go to a game and have a hot dog and a beer, if baseball wants to protect its integrity and the safety of its players AND fans that support it, they should take alcohol out of Major League stadiums all together. I think one of the main contributing factors to there being such a big uproar following this incident was that Tony LaRussa got a DUI/DWI during ST and then it was one of his players that killed himself driving drunk. Not that a death needs any extra emphasis, but I'm pretty sure the Cardinals organization and MLB felt pretty strongly about this one because of the backstory.
  6. Let's go streaking instead.
  7. Can't believe I missed an extra innings game. :banghead
  8. I have decided to jump on board and officially ban alcoholic beverages from my son's clubhouse as well. Four year old kids don't need booze anyways. On a serious note, I think it is a very responsible action for the Marlins and any other professional sports team who chooses to do so. The players are looked up to by a whole lot of youngsters and they should serve as role models as much as possible. The action by the franchise does strike me as odd though because they don't want the players to drive drunk (and more) but they will never stop selling beer to the fans who are going to drive home after the game. I know there are cutoffs after the seventh inning or whenever it is and that they can't serve the obviously drunk people, but still... If they want to make it known that alcohol is a negative thing, take it out of the stadium all together. I welcome serious responses to this, I think it would make for some valuable discussion.
  9. Yorman Bazardo was a top 10 prospect two years ago LOL I was just looking at Josh Karp's lifetime stats and wondering what he's doing with his $2,650,000 signing bonus these days.
  10. I'm sure it's been said already, but i'm trashed and too lazy to read the rest of the post..... Mayweather Sr. must have been drunk or something.
  11. Miggy is getting pretty fat again, do you guys see him moving to 1B in the near future?
  12. i bet even his splooge is protein-enhanced.
  13. why? and where would you play him? DH. He sucks at fielding. so where does Sweeney go? Sweeney gets traded to the Detroit Redwings for an octopus and two live chickens. I have no love for guys with the C on their jersey.
  14. Don't believe everything Lasorda and the boys told you, a GM doesn't set the lineup Money says DePodesta did.

I honestly am having a hard time accepting that julio lugo actually belongs on this team, cant we just accept we made a mistake and cut our losses and run. I am really hoping the front office and coaches know something about him we dont. Julio Lugo plays for the Red Sox, but yeah we know what you mean.
  16. That thing's weird. If Paul DePodesta ever gets another GM shot I bet he'd try to use that.

...the Mitre haters just never give up... :confused I'm not a hater, I actually like him a lot, but that's straight up what they told him. If he had options he would have started the season in AAA until they needed the 5th starter because his arm can't handle the pen right now.
  18. their best hitter against ricky will be out! Glad he just tore his ACL :lol why would you take from what I said that Im glad or that I even knew it was that serious...dont project your negativity on me bro! I'm not seriously happy the guy got hurt, just glad he's out of the lineup. If you can find any criticism out of a guy going 5 IP and giving up 1 ER to the best offense in baseball in his first start of the year, coming off the DL, and pitching poorly in ST leading up to the injury, I'd like to hear it. This is very, very encouraging. We need another starter to give us some consistency and if Nolasco can do that, it will be big.. because we know our offense can put up the runs.. especially when Hermida and De Aza get back. I was with you until you said Hermida, he still has a lot to prove IMO. His curveball is certainly a + pitch, but it's no Barry Zito or Daryl Kile then again, they always seem(ed) to have perfect command of that pitch I'd compare it to Zito actually in terms of break but not controll, it's his other pitches that don't live up to Zito obviously. Kile...I haven't seen pitch in a really long time (for obvious reasons) so I really can't say. I'd compare it to Zito in that he'll throw it in any count, making it that much harder for guys to get a read on what's coming. For some insight into what he's throwing up there, he perfected the curveball to an extent while playing AA ball with Rich Hill of the Cubs. If you want to see a nasty curve, check him out. I also think Ben Sheets has to be included in any conversation about outstanding curveballs, I honestly think he would amaze many physicists with what he can do with a baseball.

Mitre is out of options, that's why he was even in the rotation to start the year.
  20. Do you think he went turtle wax or mop & glo on that noggin? j/k This is cool. Not the world's greatest dart player, that was funny.
  21. their best hitter against ricky will be out! Glad he just tore his ACL
  22. Steroids? I thought he was on roids at USC. My wife went there when he was there and they were recruiting Ricky Nolasco at the time as well, saw Prior and was just amazed. His calves are the size of my thighs. All trivialities aside, sucks that such a genuinely nice person had such a promising career go down the drain.
  23. I think Ricky's supposed to go on Monday, the team site says it now too. Edit: he's going Tuesday.
  24. Derrek Lee for Hee Seop Choi has to be up there when talking about worst Marlins trades ever. The Luis Castillo for Travis Bowyer (TJ surgery) and Scott Tyler (mediocre prospect at best) trade is beginning to look worse daily as well. I forgot about that one! I was furious when the Dodgers sent Paul LoDuca packing to pick Choi up. I believe I shed a tear that day.
  25. and Ungs is a reliever. Not really. While he has more relief appearances this year so far, he is a career starter...133 GS compared to 17 relief appearances. He threw a no hitter in AA in 2005.
