  1. A lot of the Cubs' deals bite them, let's take another bite. They have way too many outfielders now, likely holding Pie to AAA to start the season (where he may very well be best suited). If they aren't that high on him, which it doesn't seem they are with all of the signings they've made lately, he's likely within reach.
  2. They need pitching, we need Pie, let's do something.

Extra spearmint. Been chewing that crap since I was a kid. Starting to think there's nicotine in it. Doesn't even taste good really. I'm switching to Big League Chew.
  4. Ever tried a peanut butter and banana sandwich? How about peanut butter and honey?
  5. TB knows they have some attractive bats, but they've been so bad for so long for a reason... pitching wins games. They know they need to make a deal.
  6. I want to see Reggie win the job, but not because I think he's the best player, just because he's an outstanding indvidual. I think all of the in house candidates for CF suck actually. That is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever read on this forum. Which part? That I hope for a good person to succeed in his pursuit of lofty goals? That every single player on that list is a crappy option for CF? Both? :mischief2

I've seen him throw a few times, not that impressive.

They replayed a recording of the radio show this morning on Adam Carolla's radio show. It was pretty terrible in hindsight. Someone feel like digging it up? I can't find it online.

I wonder if she was in the lead when she went down... :mischief2
  11. Its a slap in the rist period. Less than 2 grams. I probably have more than two grams scattered around the floor of my car. Ive known alot of high school players from Wellington High that got drafted, all smoked weed. Alot of athletes I know that have gone palces smoke weed. A couple guys on the Marlins smoke weed. No big deal IMO. If anybody seriously thinks marijuana is a gateway drug contact me and i'll send you over the last paper I wrote on the topic, it's pretty convincing.
  12. From Baseball Prospectus STAT OF THE DAY Bottom 5 2006 NL Center Fielders, by VORP Player Team EqA VORP Reggie Abercrombie FLO .217 -10.7 Eric Reed FLO .083 -7.2 Choo Freeman COL .215 -6.6 Brandon Watson WAS .110 -4.5 Damian Jackson WAS .234 -3.2 Just thought you guys might like to see that it's not just us that realizes we have a bigger problem in CF than Beinfest cares to acknowledge. 13. The secret to his success might be as simple as lesser competition in conjunction with an added level of comfort as well as home cooked meals. El Animal de Obregon is playing in his home town and loving it. I've always felt that what he lacks in size he makes up for in effort. I'm sure he's trying to improve every day. BTW - they are listing him as a switch hitter and I can't find anything to make me think otherwise.
  14. Again the cheapness of our ownership screws the Marlins. :pctoss couldnt have said it any better myself Ditto.
  15. I wonder what he's asking for... he's a hack at this stage, I hope nobody signs him.
  16. I have to log in every time I visit, been happening since just after last season ended, when the front page changed. I used to enter by clicking on a listing under "latest from the forums" and i'd never have to log in, but that's not showing up any more, and I always have to log in now. What's up with that? :mischief2
  17. Besides Koplove and Felix Rodriguez....I don't like any of the scrubs they've signed for the bullpen. I'm not even big on Koplove. It's just a bunch of ST invites again, hoping to actually have a half decent pen this year. I like a couple of the arms that came over in trades, and Felix Rodriguez is exciting.
  18. I think he's athletic enough to make the transition, but not without a lengthy and intensive learning process. It would take time to be pretty, but he could do it.
  19. My contract with the US Army was supposed to end before I'd deploy to Iraq, it was involuntarily extended, and I went. I was supposed to be deployed "not more than 364 days," which somehow mutated into nearly 14 months. The Bush administration has been up to this crap for years already. I hate those morons. morons? I'm sorry but you signed up to be in the army. With all due respect, you should know what that means and better yet you should want to defend your country. That is why they pay you. :mischief Don't put words in my mouth. I'm very happy to have served, and proud to have been one of the select few members of the military (over the course of time) who have actually had a chance to do their job in a real world situation. My loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity and personal courage have absolutely nothing to do with the mental abilities of the men and women of our national government. :usaflag

Lol, Raven's hot. There's plenty of the harder stuff with her to be found.

  22. Park will not get much money at all. I probably could have phrased my comment better and compared to the contract he got from Hicks itwill be a pittance, but Boras will get him every penny possible it wouldn't suprise me to still see it in the millions. In the millions? I'd faint if I heard of any player represented by Scott Boras to sign anything other than an incredibly favorable contract. Any pro scout could tell you that Chan Ho has sucked for ages, he has terrible mechanics. Yet he continues to get paid. Why? Scott Boras. The guy had the foresight to put a clause in J.D. Drew's contract letting him opt out exactly when the new CBA would be coming into effect, knowing that $$$ would be skyrocketing. The guy must have dirt on every GM in the game or something.
  23. would we even consider signing a boras agent at all? I doubt it. Waste of effort. Im up for this as well... If hes cheap DO IT! He won't be cheap. Texas gave him that ridiculous contract and he'll never be cheap again. He made about $70,000,000 over the last five seasons.
