I asked for the cheapest ticket in the ballpark that I know was those tickets in the upper deck in right field. She responds with the tickets in the right field deck is sold out but there are tickets in the infield box. I thought well i guess since we are playing the mets maybe there is going to be a relatively big crowd. So i was charged $30 per ticket instead of what i think is $12 for those upper deck tickets where i would have proceeded to sit in the infield box anyway because i do what i want. I want to think its a simple mistake but i also want to think that it could be they are told to sell more expensive tickets maybe to make up for the fact that nobody attends the games and the team wants to make a little more money. I actually like Samson. I think the fact that Loria told him he couldn't do the lebatard show anymore is criminal. I think he's a good guy stuck working for an awful owner. Your not alone- I've gone twice to buy tickets at the box office with the subway deal- both weekday games. Denied both times with a "sold out" - I went across the street and bought from scalpers for $5 bucks. Pay the $15 to park- and you get the "sold out " line in a half empty stadium. Bleep you box office. Luckily there's always someone near by trying to make a buck . Each time I was offered seats for 40 something in the lower bowl. Fuck you box office- if I want $5 seats I don't want $40 ones.

They gave the Sinai back to Egypt to make peace, but Egypt may wish the Israelis had kept it, Sinai causes them nothing but problems. The Golan will never be given back, it's important Israeli defensive territory. West Bank is negotiable, but you have to have a negotiating partner who will actually agree (and mean it) that you have a right to exist. Israel ran Gaza -- their territory as a result of the '67 war -- for 38 years. Then they unilaterally uprooted their own settlers and left the Palis there to their own devices. What did the Gazans do? They elected Hamas. Not a good idea to elect a bunch of terrorists if you care about building a functioning society. The question is defining what Loria can "afford." We know he has the entire ~25 mill bump in the national TV contract available, yearly, plus the 25 mill he didn't spend this year. Assuming that he's now happy with making up most of the remainder of the 59 mill loss from '12 by not spending the 25 mill bump for this year, he's left with the 25 mill/year on an ongoing basis. Trout signed for essentially 24/yr, Stanton would probably be worth similar money, give or take, so can Loria "afford" to blow it all on one guy? May be. He hasn't won a defensive award. Stanton's WAR for his career (5 seasons) is 19, whereas Trouts is at 25 (3 years). Lately- Health. He's in a good place right now- but how long of a commitment do you want for a player with his medical history. Now- what the Marlins should do is offer Giancarlo at the end of the year 20MM a year, and a No Trade Clause to 20 teams in the league. From there he can manipulate his trade market by putting teams that can't afford or won't make a run for him- like Burnett and Lee have done. Realistically, All of these players should be on the Marlins radar- Burke Badenhop- free agent at end of the year (luxury for a team selling) Sub 3 ERA. Craig Breslow- Sucks dick so far this year but a "throw shit at the wall and see what sticks candidate", move from AL to NL might help.Club Option for next year at 4 Million (declined if he's in Miami, but 100k Buyout). Might be able to get for nothing but takign on his contract. John Lackey - Interesting contract, since he missed one year earlier in the contract he's signed for 500k next year. Theres value to be had there. If the Marlins can trade for him they should. Nice Whip and ERA 1.20/3.5 so far this year. Should be worth a nice prospect for the Red Sox if they are tearing down again, but the 500k year might be too hard for them to want to trade Will Middlebrooks- a tremendous buy low candidate. If the Red Sox don't see him progessing well in the future the time is now to trade him. If he's in a deal, I expect Colin Moran to be going the other way. Not sure how I feel about that. Uehera - Free agent next year. I doubt he goes anywhere near Miami. I think he wants to close at all costs and won't like being moved. I see the Red Sox trying to resign him too. Johnny Gomes - would likely mean the end of Reed Johnson in Miami. Adds some pop to the bench, btu he might not be the ideal Marlin.

The Rosenthal article is pretty good and spot on, I think. He's basically saying that the Marlins don't deserve Stanton at this point. He's right, especially since they made zero effort to offer him a contract extension. Zero effort would imply they haven't even called or spoke to him about it- and both have been reported as happening. It takes two to tango- what's been said is the Wolheim group and Giancarlo told the marlins he wants to talk after the season. The marlins are obliging.
