  1. Wait, Ricky is still on the team? I honestly thought he got moved.
  2. I apologize if this has been mentioned, but I didn't see it posted. Looks like the Fish signed the failed Dolphins experiment to a minor league deal. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/pat-white-baseball-try-191300248--nfl.html
  3. Just wanted to let my MB.com friends know that my wife and I welcomed the newest, and smallest, Marlins fan to the world yesterday morning: our daughter Laurel. I can't wait to take her to her first game and get her first autograph! She will not be traded for another baby as she's my MVP.
  4. While on Chris Creamer's site reading about the Dolphins upcoming logo "refresh" (terrible), I noticed an article about MLB's new BP caps this year. Looks like the Marlins will have a Home and Road. http://news.sportslogos.net/2013/01/01/2013-nl-east-batting-practice-caps-and-uniforms/ Is it me or is the 70's/80's white pannel completely clashing w/ the style (and intent) of the Logo? I like the road much more (which is saying a lot considering my documented general distaste for the rebranding) as I think the whole thing work much better with the white center on the "M" and on a black background. I think it will be pretty popular with the fans. My hope is that once Loria gets the orange out of his system (and is no longer a trendy color), they'll emphasize the blue more (since it represents the marine nature of a Marlin and at least has some connection to our past). Blue brim and button, I'm there.
  5. There's scant info out there on this, no images as of yet. Info is in the middle of the article. http://www.cfnews13.com/content/news/cfnews13/news/article.html/content/news/articles/cfn/2012/12/31/headlight_flashing_w.html I'm pretty excited to get one of these and add it to my Marlins tag I've had since my first car in '96.
  6. I was reading an article today about the new state laws that go into place starting tomorrow. Buried in the traffic laws is a provision authorizing the DMV to issue specialty drivers licenses featuring Florida's universities, professional sports teams and non-profits. Like the specialty license plates, half the additional $25 fee goes to the state and the other half goes to the organization. I don't know when they'll actually be available or if the Marlins will be one of the teams represented, but I hadn't heard anything about this before today, so I wanted to give everyone a heads up, especially those of you who are due for a renewal this year.
  7. According to Heyman, a source told him that the Marlins are financially "under water". Makes perfect sense, they are sport fish afterall.
  8. According to Capozzi, they fired him over the phone. At least the Sox brought Bobby V in for breakfast. Stay classy, Marlins.
  9. I guess our doofus GM is staying “After careful consideration following the disappointment of the 2012 season, we decided to dismiss Ozzie, said Admin Beinfest, Marlins' President of Baseball Operations. “Our managerial search begins immediately and our hope is that a new manager, along with roster improvements, will restore a winning culture. Since when did we have a winning culture in the first place?
  10. Andre Dawson anyone? What year is it? I see what you did there!
  11. Wish we could have gotten at least a serviceable arm. Dude is 22 and in single A. He's nothing more than organizational depth and will never sniff the majors.
  12. grow up! GTFOH. PS. his wife is UGLY. And what! Looks like you need to take your own advice. You must have a miserable life.
  13. Thanks everybody. Wasn't sure about pregame, as they were only allowing people with tickets in those sections down there back in April. They had waist-high barriers leading from the stadium to the garage after the game, figured that was the walkway for the players. Whole lot more difficult for players to ignore fans on both sides of you than their setup at JRS. Anyone know how accessible the visitors' bus is, and where they leave?
  14. Now that we're almost a full season into our new digs, I was curious what the autograph situation is? I'm going to tomorrow's game, and is the first time I've gone down since the Yankees exhibitions. At the time, it didn't look to be autograph friendly, as all of the lower level seats around the field and dugouts had restricted access and it's too far a drop from the seats to the bullpen. After-game appeared more promising than JRS, however, as the players look like they get to their cars in the garage through the plaza. Thanks!
  15. Circle is complete for Dempster as we got him from the Rangers originally.
  16. I always liked it when we had Yorkis Perez.
  17. HawkFan replied to poptart's topic in Miami Marlins
I was still 17 when this guy was a top prospect for the Marlins!! Lol' since we are asking.... Where is Nigel Wilson and Josh Booty???? Wilson had opened a sports training facility in Toronto last I heard. Booty's probably in jail for his DUI/resisting arrest deal a few years ago.

Fanofthefish- I knew you were going to mention Stokes. My favorite can't miss prospect is still Chip Ambres.
  19. I think the bigger question is why in the hell would you want to live in Gainesville?
  20. If we refused to part with GCMS in 2008 in order to get Manny Ramirez for the stretch run when we were in the playoff hunt, there's no way we trade him now that he is a known commodity.
  21. thanks for ruining my father's day! now I'm off to beat my kids... Hey, they did the same thing to me last year, as going to that game was my father's day present. I knew better this year than to watch them.
  22. I won't be going this year, unfortunately. We're bringing both of our families together Sunday to tell them a new Marlins fan is on the way.
  23. That's pretty crazy considering JJ is one of the better signers at the ballpark and has made several free promotional appearances over the years. Note, this is the cost the memorabilia shop is charging, not JJ or the Marlins.
  24. You know what I would like them to do but would probably be beyond expensive? I think the stadium would benefit have a kind of taught fabric ceiling. It would disguise the warehouse feel. Ya lost me on this. You want to get rid of the retractable and put in a tarp? Anyway.......Last I heard this is what the Rays were trying for on the stadium that they wanted built. The idea goes back to the Romans with the Coliseum who actually had sailors stationed there, pulling ropes to open and close it. No idea what ever happened with the Rays quest for a new home. I think he meant having a tarp-like material on the underside of the roof sections. Regarding the Rays' stadium, the funding measure was voted down by the residents of St. Pete. The Rays really want to move to Tampa proper, but St. Pete is holding them to their lease to keep them from mo img across the bay. Last I heard, Tampa had offered a new proposal where they'd build a new cruise ship terminal on the St. Pete side of the bay in exchange for letting the Rays out if their lease so they could move to Tampa.
