October 20, 201213 yr We get 3B Yordy Cabrera from Oakland Oakland gets Chris Young Arizona gets Bell, Chris Pennington and $8 million from us
October 20, 201213 yr Are we trying to fill our roster with the dumbest names possible? Gorkys. Yordy. But hey, Bell's gone. Rejoice!
October 20, 201213 yr Can't wait to hear what Bell has to say. So long, douchebag. "It was God's fault I became a douche, and started sucking."
October 20, 201213 yr Looking up Yordy Cabrera, he suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks! .648 OPS in 166 games, no power, can't hit for average even, a lot of K's, a LITTLE bit of speed [not much at all], and his D looks like sh*t. Damn it, Beinfest!
October 20, 201213 yr Well, when Loria gets back, Beinfest is gone. This trade will seal it. Yes, Heath Bar sucked horrifically here, but we couldn't at least get something better than a guy who can't hit or field in SINGLE A? sh*t, Beinfest, seriously ... absolutely terrible.

I would have rather kept Bell, honestly, with that sh*tty of a return.

He has intangibles. The way he scratches his ass, and picks his nose is something that won't show up in a box score.
October 20, 201213 yr Ah whatever, really. Honestly, no, I wouldn't expect to get much better than that for Bell, but just, THAT bad? Really? If the guy could at least field I'd say there's something there, but he made 38 errors in 95 games last year and 23 in 59 THIS year. He's terrible on D and as I said he can't hit.

I would have rather kept Bell, honestly, with that sh*tty of a return. there was no chance of keepig him. the entire team and organization hated him and he was only here a year. couldnt have brought him back. cabrera was a 2nd round pick, maybe he turns out to be something, but we got rid of him and freed up a little money which is all that counts
October 20, 201213 yr Guys come on. Just finding someone, ANYONE willing to take in Heath Bell, let alone eat 2/3 of his contract, was hard enough. I don't care if we would have gotten an empty ice cream cone, getting rid of Bell is reward enough.

Yeah, he's young, but right now he's got nothing, absolutely nothing.
October 20, 201213 yr I wonder how Loria feels about this? He was supposedly the one who wanted Bell. Well it was a horrible failure. Maybe now he'll keep his nose out of the baseball operation. At least in terms of signing guys.
October 20, 201213 yr This was paying $8 million to not have to pay an extra $13 million to keep Bell long term. Can't really evaluate this trade until we see how Bell performs next season. All that can be said is that it would've been hard to let him stay on this team next season. Probably will go down as one of the three worst decisions in Marlins history (not trading Bell, signing him).
October 20, 201213 yr Seems like every time Loria spends money (2 times) it has blown up in his face. Sucks bro. Let the FO run the team. Yeah Buck and Bell signings hurt.
October 20, 201213 yr addition by subtraction. and they saved $13 million. solid move by beinfest. long contracts to past-their-prime players are poison. you're seeing the impact all around the league. marlins made some poor moves last off-season, but at least they're realizing their mistake now and trying to rectify the situation. now if they can dump john buck on someone...
October 20, 201213 yr Bell becomes a superstar with the Diamondbacks. A very fat superstar, but a superstar nonetheless.
October 20, 201213 yr Wish we could have gotten at least a serviceable arm. Dude is 22 and in single A. He's nothing more than organizational depth and will never sniff the majors.

That's a ridiculous thing to say considering Loria has the final say in every deal. Also, Heath Bell had absolutely no value; they needed to get Oakland involved in order to trade him.
