October 21, 201213 yr Out of all the reasons Bell gave for his poor performances, he didn't blame the fans like Uggla (hard to be motivated when the place is empty-blah blah, I guess Dan was not motivated this year for other reasons) because one thing for certain, the boos raining down on his underperforming butt were not piped in from the sound system.

If this money isnt used to sign someone else to replace him, it is literally a complete waste. so keeping a guy who blames everyone else around him but himself and who will cost a lot of money the next two years is better than cutting your losses and getting rid of him? even when he went through the stretch where he wasn't giving up earned runs he still wasn't having very many 1-2-3 easy innings out there. he was awful from season start to season end and bitched and moaned more than anyone, yes including more complaining than what hanley ever did...but oh..it'd be better paying an extra 13 million to have him continue this song and dance routine in the clubhouse. this was about as good of a trade you'd get for something like him. i'm still waiting to hear what you think you could get in a deal for bell. you've still declined to answer.

The payroll for the new stadium wasnt expected to automatically jump us to over 100 million every year. WE took a shot at spending a lot last year and it failed miserably. If we succeeded im sure Loria would have continued to spend that much for a little while, but what is the need to do that now? Rebuilding with young, cheap players while keeping the expensive veterans is better method for delivering a winning team anyway. If we scale our payroll back to 55 that would be one thing, but if it goes up to the 70-80 million that was expected with the new park then what the hell are you exactly complaining about?

October 22, 201213 yr I received a text from my buddy yesterday saying something along the lines "you don't need to worry about bell blowing saves for the marlins next year, d'backs just picked him up......." my question wasn't about who came back, but how much money was going out ......... $13M of the $21M isn't bad - sucks that this move didn't work out and they had to cut bait, but that's what it is he may turn it around and be servicible, but doubt AZ will get $6.5M per year value out of the guy I find some aspects interesting about this ........ the first is he's a lot closer to SD, he has no expectations over the contract, no pressure on him to be anything other than just another guy, a division he's familiar with and he gets a clean slate - things went south pretty quickly and he was unable to help himself get it right however, he was very clear that he felt like he deserved a chance to close - AZ doesn't see this as his future, aside for an insurance role - he still has a large enough contract and AZ is fairly budget minded - ken kendrick can be pretty outspoken from the organizational standpoint (blasting both stephen drew and justin upton last year) and Gibby is fairly unconventional as a manager, so he may still have some difficulties fitting in if things go south or if he feels he's not getting his deserved opportunity
