  1. He has been absolutely great in the field and he has looked pretty good at the plate lately. They have been giving him some solid ABs against lefties and I think its time to give him the opprtunity to become an almost everyday player. Not to mention Hermida is a scrrrrrub
  2. Give Nunez an opportunity to close and there will be competition for the setup role amongst Calero, Lindstrom, Meyer etc. (whoever pitches well enough to earn the role)
  3. It is quite evident that Nunez is just a better pitcher than Lindstrom right now. Untill Lindstrom gains command of a second pitch he is not going to be a very effective closer. He doesnt have good enough command of his fastball to be a one pitch guy.
  4. Im just have ALOT more confidence in Nunez then Lindstrom
  5. I really dont trust the guy. He has absolutely no command of his breaking ball and when good hitters know his fastball is coming (which is almost always) they crush him. I think they are waiting to long to replace him with Nunez. It is apparent to everyone that Nunez is the better pitcher so why no just make the move now before disaster strikes again.
  6. haaaa, pretty funny. He didn't say that after he had a great rookie year. Pretty easy to say something like that during the worst stretch of Volstad's career
  7. F*ck the dolphins. Mark Sanchez SUCKS, F*ck the Jets, Channing Crowder >>>> Rex Ryan
  8. 3 games back of the WC, no need to trade anybody now.............................Everyone knows what kind of player Cody is, I dont think this hot streak has really increased his trade value that much............If we are out of contention, come the trade deadline he will most likely be traded.
  9. Trade Freddi
  10. Uggla is def gone , Hermida they should trade, I think they will trade Cody (if they can get somebody good, which they prob can), I would like to see Cantu stay another year to keep the seat warm for Logan, but wouldnt be suprised if they traded him. What about Linstrom? I think they can get something good for him. I really dont think Lindstrom is going to be a good closer or even a good setup man during his career. He just cant consistently control that breaking ball of his and when these major leaguers know his fastball is coming they just feast on it. Also, half the time he cant even get his fastball over the plate.
  11. that reallllllly sucked
  12. great bet, gonna try to do the same......the NL sucks this year so you never know
  13. Getting a little bit whiny over there, I think you need to relax, this is prob one of the few issues we disagree on...........relax
  14. Are you crying, theres no crying, theres no crying in baseball
  15. He does have a good arm though, I'll give him that
  16. This is not a debatable issue he is awful defensively, take your marlins bias out of the debate
  17. Sorry let me clarify, I was being criticized for only posting to rag on Hermida. I stated that I only rag on Hermida because I am usually just a reader, not a poster on the message board. I usually dont post on other topics b/c I usually agree dead on with what ERICK has to say on other issues and I just dont want to repeat the same views over and over again. Quick question ERICK, do you think Hermida is an average defensive RF? Defensive stats are very deceptive, based on watching alomst every one of his major league games, there is no way an intelligent marlins fans as yourself can call him average.
  18. ok to respond: 1. Pitching win games just actually called Hermida an average defensive outfielder...................you have officially lost speaking privileges, your judgment is obviously horrendous 2. bobbob responds to some of may arguements by admitting he doesnt have great power and stating "Batting average doesnt matter, RBIs dont matter"........Those are very quality statements, yea BA and RBI are very pointless stats.......so are TDS and yards in football and points and rebounds in basketball..... 3 bobbob You then further state that BC has only had a quarter of the sucess that Hermida has had. Two things very wrong with this statement. 1. You imply that Hermida has had a sucessfull career when in reality he has been a scrub (except for 2007 when he got really hot AFTER the team fell way out of contention)(only a loser scrub has the hottest streak of his career during by far his team's worst season of the carreer) 2. Obvisouly BC hasnt had one quarter the sucess Srubmida has.......he has only had a little over 100 ABS to Hermida's 1400, but another quality statement from you 4. Core parts of your agument state that he showed potential (ok true but weak, alot of scrubes have showed potential) , he has decent range(which is clearly false), his 260 career BA in close and late situations is something to be proud of, he might become Paul O'neil (true, but I would say he has a better chance of becoming Ghandi) You do have a valid point about me only writing to complain about Hermida. The reason I often write on this topic is because I agree with what ERIK has to say about 95% of the time. Therefore I find no need to repeat what Erick has to say just in different words. I am usually just a reader of the boards and I find it useless to express my beliefs when for the most part I agree with what is being said. The only subjects I disagree with alot of you guys on I talk about (not a big fan of fredi, the need to play more small ball, Hermida) But my friends/fellow diehards we must remeber we are fighting a civil war. We all bleed the grandiose combination of teal, white and black and for that I respect all of the MB.com members. We must keep our disagreements and disputes relative becasue when you take a step back the wise members of this beautiful online community recognize one important idea...........We are fighting for the same thing........ the moving, living poetry that 30,000 simultaneous lightbulbs creates as the South Florida faithful try to caputre the begining of it's proud team's third playoff appearance, the privledge of hearing 60,000 plus on there feet as Josh Johnson is one out away from the second World Series complete game in Marlins history, the honor and prestige of witnessing october baseball.................................................. the glory of ring #3
  19. ok bobbob I want you to describe to me the player that you think Hermida is, just so I know what we are disagreeing on. Maybe if we know our differences we can come to a common understanding on Hermida. Give me a scouting report of Hermida when you get a chance. Here is mine: Cant hit for average (career 265 hitter) Doesnt have good corner outfield power( 49 Hrs in 1,482 career abats) One of the consistently worse defensive outfielders I have ever watched (all you need is two eyes for this one) poor situational hitter that doesnt drive in alot of runs ( 186 RBI in 1,482 career at bats) Average speed at best Good arm patient There is no way any of you can disagree with any of this. I am not saying BC is the answer all I am saying is that Hermida is a proven scrub so we should give Carroll a shot. In my opinion Bonifacio isnt a proven scrub and maybe he can turn it around, which is why Carroll should play at the expense of Scrubmida. I agree with you guys that BC probably isnt the answer but give him a shot b/c at the very least you get a gold glove caliber outfielder that cant hit.
  20. Good game hermida. Dont forget that if that scrub makes that play on the fly ball in the third (not an easy play but a play that a major league RF should make) this game wouldnt have been this close. He still sucks, you guys need to stop being blinded by your malins bias. I really hope the scrub proves me wrong, but he is a proven scrub and he is not going to be anything in this league. Jeremy Hermida=Junior Felix
  21. No question, part of the problem is that they don't have the personnel that regularly bunts. But you know what, someone like Hermida should truthfully learn/be proactively taught how to improve his bunting. Why are you guys so anti-small ball/ national league ball. In my opinion this team's high K rate, can be somwhat mitigated with bunting in certain situations. Uggla, Hermida and Cody all strikeout often which killls the offense in the moving the runners over category. I dont think you can disagree that the lack of putting the ball in play and moving runners has really hurt the offense this year and last, and I think bunting would really help that problem. They have proved that they just cant effectively mover runners over, so why not somewhat change your approach. The coaching staff should start improving bunting skills.
  22. Hopefully Fredi and the coaching staff notice. Twice on Friday night game ( 4th and 6th innings ) the Marlins had runners in first and second and nobody out with Cody at the plate. Both times he swung at the firt pitch popping up to shallow left.........Next thing you know Paulino hits a single to right field ( both times ) but we end up not scoring enough. What would've happened had Cody bunted advancing runners. Paulino had accounted for at least 4 rbi's and the Marlins won. This is just an example of what has been going on for the whole season now. This team doesn't execute situational hitting, players are not patient at the plate, our leadoff hitter leads the team in strikeouts and has the worst obp in the lineup, not many bunt attempts. Oh, something's wrong! Our pitching is doing very good, our defense is a little bit better lately, we should be better in the standings. To get started, dfa Boni and have a steady lineup: De Aza/Coughlan, Herm, HanRam, Cantu, Uggla, Helms, Baker, Cody. Fredi and Presley need to feel they can be fired any time agreed, maybe start bunting a little more?
  23. I agree with you guys that BC probably isnt going to unseat Hermida, all I said is that he should be given an opportnuity to do so. But I think we can all agree that it is time for Loria to get off his cheap ass and allow our FO to trade for a good OF bat at some time in the near future. Even with the struggles we are only 4 games out of the wildcard. Other then the Phillies and Dodgers the rest of the NL is very weak and I dont think one team will run away with the wild card. Do you guys think if we are within 3-4 games in late July, we will trade for a good bat? and who is out there on teams you dont think will be contending that we could possibly acquire?
  24. I think Carroll should be given an opportunity to get some PT and we will see what happens from there. Personally, I think he should be given that opportunity at Hermida's expense over Emilio's. Hermida is a proven scrub who cant hit, field or run. Emilio is an unproven scrub, yes he has played like a scrub but he hasnt proven his permanent scrubness as Hermida has. So maybe if we give him a little longer his play will improve. But lets face it Hermida is hopeless, he just flat out sucks. Junior Felix played a better RF than Hermida. But on a related note, why does Emilio continue to hit 1 or 2, how about hitting him eigth. Im sure Fredi is the only person on earth who would rather have Emilio hitting in the two hole over Baker.
  25. I would rather have him push Hermida out of the lineup
