I truly believe that we need to start playing more small ball via more bunting and hit and runs. I understand the personnel doesnt possess great skills in this department but the offense has done such a sh*tty job at producing runs. This same non-sense occured last year. If I am the manager I am making sure our coaching staff teaches Hermida how to bunt and then I have him bunt every time he has a runner on first and second and no outs. I am so sick and tired of seeing runners with first and second and no outs and getting nothing out of it. It is time to somewhat change our offensive approach and install a little bit more bunting with this team. Manfacturing runs has been an issue the past two years yet we continue to take the same apporach. If we cant manfacture runs without any small ball might as well give small ball a try and teach guys such as cody and hermida and Uggla (to a lesser extent) how to bunt.

Bottom line is that he is truly a 250 hitter that doesnt drive in many runs and is way below average defensively. If you think he is above average or even average your just wrong. But I guess the bottom line is that they really have no replacements so we have to live with his scrub loser ass for another year. On the bright side Beinfest will probably use his magic to trade scrub boy to some dumb ass like Minaya for a decent player. On a related note, does anyone know when Logan Morrison is comin back from his injury?

Hahaha, Hermida and "great" in the same sentence. hahahahaha Dude is a SCRUB. He doesn't hustle and plays horrible defense. Any of us could play better D than him in the outfield. The only thing i'll give him is his patience because he does get a good amount of walks, and he runs into one every now and then. But people need to stop regarding him as a prospect with alot of potential, because he has been here for a few years already. He can't get away with the "potential" excuse anymore. Perfectly said He is a way below average player defensively, and doesnt even hustle in the outfield. Im sick of watching a consistent 250 hitter SUCK defensively. Why not play amezaga in his place, they would prob hit for the same average and Alfredo is a gold glover. Yes he wont drive in as many runs but he also wont come close to Hermida's k total. Not to mention the most unclutch player on earth, in that one game in Washington he defiently hired those angles from angles in the outfield, I'd serisouly bet he did.

I am so sick and tired of this scrrrrrrrrrrub. He cant hit, he cant field and he cant run. He just flat out sucks and its time for this organization to move in a different direction. I dont care what the alternatives are just get rid of him. He is a loser and a curse.

how bout trading scrub hermida for another arm........we have gload, amezaga, maybin and coghlan for two outfield spots and we really need another starter

I can't believe how much the Marlin fans in this forum undervalue Cantu. How many third basemen in all of baseball outperformed Cantu last year? I think immediately of ARod and David Wright and then slow down in a hurry. Didn't Cantu perform at least as well as high paid "stars" like Aramis Ramirez, Troy Glaus, and Adrian Beltre? Cantu would be an upgrade at third for at least two thirds of the teams in both leagues, comes at a remarkably low salary, and is at a prime age. Cantu should have huge trade value. Totally agree.........I dont see why we would trade Cantu unless we are overwhelmed.......Cantu has proved what he can do and he will be playing for relatively cheap.............He was arguably our most consistent hitter last year and I would rather not have to rely on an unproven Gaby Sanchez AND and unproven Dallas Mcpherson/ Bonifacio.. I truly dont think the are gonna trade him unless they are blown away by an offer and what the hell is Stark talking about......why would we want Bartlett, that makes absolutely 0 sense

i know there has been talk of trading Cantu and that it is the trendy FO move................ but id really be suprised if it happens.......he was too good last year

what is the argument...........Hermida hasnt played well....he is a career 267 hitter and a well below average defender.... I'm not saying he wont be good in the future but he hasnt been good thus far

I think the Spring training battle will be a Bonifacio/ Gabby Sanchez battle If Gaby Wins he plays 1B and Cantu plays 3B If Bonifacio wins he plays 3B and Cantu plays first

assuming Bonafacio plays 3B (which is a big time assumption) and the fish keep Uggla (another assumption) I dont see there being an open competition at 1B....The way Cantu played last year there is almost no way that Sanchez or Dallas would be him out even if he has a poor Spring.............Which makes me think (under the great aforementioned assumptions) that the team isnt in love with Gaby at the moment What do you guys think

I would really like to see him stay but with this trade I just dont know. Common sense says that he or Uggla will be gone (I guess thats assuming they really like Gaby). I think they are going to hold onto Danny so I really dont know whats gonna but Cantu was our most consistent hitter this season and I really want to see him back Probably a huge stretch but has Gaby Sanchez ever played any LF???????
