November 20, 200817 yr Phillies Interested In Hermida By Tim Dierkes [November 20 at 9:00am CST] According to MLB.com's Joe Frisaro, the Phillies are interested in Marlins outfielder Jeremy Hermida. Hermida could be a more affordable replacement for Pat Burrell. On Friday, Ken Rosenthal wrote that the Cubs and Rays were in on Hermida. Hermida, 25 in January, hit .249/.323/.406 in 559 plate appearances. He was much better in '07. His defense in right field has been slightly above average. He's arbitration-eligible for the first time, and under team control for three more seasons. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/ http://hotstove.mlblogs.com/archives/2008/...rtnerId=rss_fla I'm on the fence about trading Hermida, but I surely hope he doesn't go to a division rival. I'd rather keep him for that. That is unless they are willing to give up a lot for him which is doubtful because his trade value seems to be at a low point.
November 20, 200817 yr His trade value is not low. This may not be selling Hermida at his highest, but his value is still very good... Especially with several teams making serious inquiries. Hermida would tear it up in Philly, too. That stadium is ideal for him.
November 20, 200817 yr I already posted this in the other Hermida thread - we don't need to open a new thread EVERY time an article mentions a Marlins player. This should be moved there.

I disagree with you, because for example, the old Hermida post is several pages long already. So people shouldnt have to sift through 4 or 5 pages of arguments to find new information. This way, the news has a headline, I can go in here and read it without having to go through several pages.
November 20, 200817 yr I took care of this on the MLB Trade Rumors site. I take every opportunity to yell at unrealistic Philly fans every chance I get, even if it's on a pathetic site.
November 20, 200817 yr shows you how much this guy knows when he calls Hermida's D slightly above average
November 20, 200817 yr Hermi does have a good arm. As for trading him i hate trading within the div unless you get alot back.
November 20, 200817 yr Really? Hermida's defense is slightly above average? Yes. Stats lie :brigginbounce
November 20, 200817 yr Really? Hermida's defense is slightly above average? Yes. How do you figure? He's below average in RZR and also in making outs on balls outside his zone and although he ahs a strong arm it's not particulalry an accurate one.
November 20, 200817 yr If you're going to trade him, send him to ANYWHERE but Philly. Seriously. No more trading within the division unless its something mega-huge for the Fish.

Hey Polo, I made a thread with the plus/minus scores of all the Marlin's last season aswell as in '07. You can check it out > http://www.marlinsbaseball.com/forums/inde...showtopic=85864 going via plus/minus, hermida's career has been 06: -3 (21st) 07: +7 (9th) 08: +2 (14th) Going by that, I think it's fair to say Hermida is basically an average RFer defensively. And I believe I've gone over with you before why I prefer +/- over rzr/ooz. But even going by RZR/OOZ, I believe Hermida has been roughly average over his career.

November 20, 200817 yr Going to Philly and finally living up to his potential would be a fitting end to his Marlins career.

November 21, 200817 yr I already posted this in the other Hermida thread - we don't need to open a new thread EVERY time an article mentions a Marlins player. This should be moved there. Why do people get some God Damn anal about thread postings. If the moderators feel its redundant then they can purge them. Isn't that what they're here for.

Get off it, pal. P.S. Upon further reflection, I suppose it is a big deal when anyone in the media actually wants to write something about the Marlins, so maybe it does deserve a separate thread. :thumbup

I just hate when people police threads, I feel as though that is the job of moderator.
November 21, 200817 yr Like most of the people already said the only way I would even think of trading him to Philly is if we get a BIG package in return. I still strongly believe he will turn it around this season.

I still strongly believe he will turn it around this season. If Hermida goes to Philly, he'll be a steal on my fantasy team for next year. That's all I'm saying. He'll produce here...send him to Philly, and he's going to really show all the naysayers here how good he really is.
