  2. he's sweating like joe stong out there wild early - we've seen this b4. inning 2 will tell if he gets in groove or gets pulled we cannot afford any more cub runs
  3. So WC, do you have your reservations for Cooperstown yet? DLee is so a lead pipe cinch to be inducted. :thumbdown :banghead :thumbdown :banghead
  4. yorkis perez, anyone? seriously, tejerible has to go. and dont even think about vic or jesus. i'd go for heredia, assuming 600k is the right number.
  5. If he's so great, trade his *ss for a front line pitcher. No takers? Surprised? He pads his stats in blowouts - ask anybody here.
  6. Lee's tap to 3B in the 11th was pathetic. I think he really has trouble breathing when pressure is on.
  7. I was on top row of 450 - you are right - fans were not supportive late. But it was a very emotional game, and I felt that the crowd was basically wrung out by inning 11. That's not an excuse - just an observation. I for one was on my feet in the top row from inning 6 to 11, yelling my lungs out. btw, SI photog was up there trying to get panormic of JRS - he said he'd probably get a better shot at day game en Domingo. GO MARLINS!!!!!!!!!
  8. Hurt him where he lives. Test drive cars @ Maronne & then buy from broker. Do not buy anything from HWH businesses. I have boycotted since 1998 - Tell Dolphin advertisers you do not like HWH - take their freebees & don't buy anything. Tell them what you're doing and why - they will stop advertising on Dolphins broadcasts.
  9. Prior's last truly big post-season start against a Florida team was back in the 2001 CWS championship game against the University of Miami Hurricanes. Final - Canes 12, USC 1
  10. 4 3 2 Juan - he's overdue
  11. Ah yes - napalm in the morning. It smells like .......... it smells like.............victory!
  12. Most of us have heard of the ex-Cub factor - ie, no team with 3 or more ex-Cubs has ever won the WS. This year's version is the ex-Indian factor. No team with a high-profile ex-Indian has taken down the Marlins so far this year. To date - Jim Thome (PHI) and Marquis Grissom (SF). Next up - Kenny Lofton (CHC).
  13. JLo, you da man!!!!!!!
  14. Saturday is the 5th annual "Jerseys Off Their Backs" raffle at the Pro. For a mere $1 donation, you can buy a chance to win an authentic autographed Marlins game jersey. These are the real thing - not some cheaper Majestic knockoff. Fifteen jerseys will be raffled off - benefitting the Muscular Dystrophy Association ("Jerry's Kids"). All major Marlins - Cabrera, Beckett, Conine, Willis, Lowell, Enc, Redman, Pierre, Castillo, etc..... Raffle stations will be at the gates, 100 level, club level, and 400 level. Look for the bright yellow MDA T-shirts on our volunteers. I'm a volunteer captain, so watch out for a madman running all around the Pro helping out. Ask for me - Marlin2266. Insider tip - your best chance of winning will be at the stations on the 400 level. Good luck and GO MARLINS!
  15. Good points, CGator. I think Joe may have made some tactical mistakes (in his last year 2000) by criticizing John Henry for his stadium proposal (25,000 seat mini-park, expandable when necessary). That frosted his relationship with FO and (I believe) led to his departure. Anyway, Joe landed on his feet in SF and appears to be enjoying himself. God bless him.
  16. "I have no problem with Art and Boog on radio." Arnie - Who is Art?
  17. I learned from Angel that a one-hopper over the wall is NOT a "ground rule double". It's technically called an "automatic double" because it doesn't involve a park specific ground rule. Interesting - and no other commentator says this, just Joe. I saw him on the field before an SF game @ JRS last year - told him we missed him. He turned and acknowledged my sentiments. I still kind hate that OB basically drove Joe outta town, and then turned tail himself one year later. Those guys were great together early on, but clashed later big-time - a real shame..............
  18. Not many people would consider Jay Powell "championship calibre", but guess who was WP in 1997 game 7? You've also got your Brian Doyles, Gene Tenaces, and Don Larsens- it's a long list. Players rise (and fall) to the occasion.
  19. Crystal ball time: Hou goes 3-4 - winds up 87-75 Chi goes 4-2 - winds up 88-74 Fla goes 4-3 - winds up 89-73 Phi goes 3-3 - winds up 88-74 Hou has 3 tough games with SF - will lose 2. Phi has 6 tough games with FLA/ATL - will split. Fla has 4 tough games with ATL/Phi - will split. Chi wins Central; Marlins win WC. QED :hat
  20. Personally, I'm more scared of the Cubs right now. Take a look at their cake schedule (CIN & PIT).
  21. Speaking of "doin the fish"...... Saturday 8/13, they dusted off the old song and played it at JRS with a new video (as the Marlins finished whipping up on the Braves). The "girl in the blue bikini" was replaced by more wholesome shots - boy I miss her.......
  22. We need UU & Loop. Ideally, Loop will get an easy appearance soon to build confidence. Not sure TJ will trust him with a season-decider before he re-proves himself. Last 2 blown saves were crushing to confidence. Not worried about UU - the Sheffield HR was on a very good pitch. No worries here........
  23. Interesting - 2nite they basically ignored the Phillies until the score was final - I think they only mentioned it once or twice. Kinda reverse psychology - whatever - it worked!!
