  1. So the north side of the football OB will have the "Tower", presumably with luxury suites etc. But just wait until those wealthy Canes alumni realize their seats in the Tower look almost directly into the sun............. ouch.
  2. How in the world can an on-line pet supply company (selling bird seed for $1.99 a bag) afford to sponsor a ML stadium? Anybody have their financial info / NYSE?
  3. The Miami Marlins played a few games in the OB back in the 1950s. LF was about 250' with a high net. I saw the blueprints to convert the existing OB structure into a baseball configuration. Home plate would be deep in the middle of the west (closed) end zone. The sideline stands on both sides would be redesigned to provide "cutouts" which could be removed for baseball and put back in for football. Both LF and RF lines would be a reasonable 310 feet. I have been on the OB field, and there is a definite "crown" down the middle of the field. This would have to be removed. as baseball field must be flat. Anyway, this is all a moot point. Baseball will not be played in the current OB structure. Full tear down and rebuild is the only acceptable option. Of course, the "cutout" idea above is workable and could be part of the new OB.
  4. Hey jmenjes - Are you the Beatles guy??
  5. Next year, it's $10 to park ($9 last year). But if you buy any season ticket package, parking is $7 (grass) or $12 (paved lot). Time to boo HWH one more time - I don't know why he doesn't just raise it to $30 and finish us off completely - the little bast*ard..............
  6. Pudge = Alonso Mourning
  7. Boog was commenting on Fudge this morning. He said Fudge was way over-rated as a leader and clubhouse presence. Yes, we'll miss his production in the clutch, but as far as behind the scenes, it sounds like he was a non-factor. Interesting.
  8. How's Choi's english? I worry about communication / comprehension.
  9. I went to visit my father-in-law after Game 6. He used to watch every single Marlins game on TV (although he was too frail to go to PPS anymore) It was very emotional - see he passed away in June. I left the Herald front page by his graveside. Somehow, he knows what happened and in his own way he helped.
  10. The wild card here is the "Ozzie effect". How will AGon react?
  11. Angela Smith is the just best - Nancy Olson, too (from the Marlins Community Foundation). BR
  12. Need a stat that measures RISP and game situation. DLee excels with score 10-1 (or 1-10), and consistently failed with score close. (Thankfully he went against the grain late in '03 plus playoffs). Ask anyone that watches all the games closely for the past 5 years.
  13. I agree, Keys. G / E / FA Lee 155 5 .996 Choi 69 5 .991
  14. OK - so when does the special "Wheaties" box hit the shelves?
  15. Man, he was a monster several years ago with AZ. But RF in JRS is where LH power hitters go to die.
  16. Around 1:30 ET today. Live from the jungle in LA. Topics: 1. Hunting. Josh recently shot a deer but it escaped with wound. 2. JR asked if Josh wanted to play for Houston. Josh really sounded like he is happy in Florida and isn't anxious to leave. 3. Josh said TJ started off in May by telling the team "I don't need this f****** job". Gained players respect immediately. 4. Winning WS still hasn't sunk in. Josh sez he will really believe it when he gets his ring in April. Josh is a good interview - not boring, and not too many cliches.
  17. "Hasta la vista, babeeeee"
  18. ".... and there's Castillo racing into second base with an automatic double......." God, I love Joe Angel.
  19. I'm with Ramp on this one too.
  20. The parade at The Falls was great - looked like Conine had a good time riding as Grand Marshall. Did anyone see him afterwards? Kinda funny - people stated chanting "Let's Go Marlins Let's Go" when the float bearing our buddy Katy Sorenson went by. She didn't even look over.
  21. Jeff Conine is the grand marshall of the "Miracle at 136 Street" parade Saturday 11/15 at 4:30. No word on signing stuff (but you can probably get him for free after the parade). Location - Falls shopping center - South Dade County
  22. Sabean of SF wins - Beinfest not even in top 3! http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1659255
  23. FM I can understand AM is lo-fi; talk & sports do not need digital enhancement
  24. In the final article "Swinging Once Again", there are actually 4 or 5 factual errors - I am surprised SI let them slip through. For example, they intimate that Jim Leyland suceeeded Rene Lacheman in 1996, when actually it was John Boles. Leyland came in fresh for 1997. Read & see if you can spot the other errors..........
