  1. Interesting question, but until Hanley physically outgrows the position, I think we should play him there. And hope his defense doesn't deteriate. Double A is a great defender, but I don't think he is an everyday starter.
  2. Ah, the grand slam. Our bane this season. For a second start, Graham pitched well. It wasn't sterling silver, but it was a lot better than against the Phils. Shame that Hopper gave up those runs. Tomorrow's another day!
  3. Yes, we should. It is always good to be in a state of panic. :thumbup
  4. Cantu. Was it a coincidence that we started that losing streak while he was sitting on the bench, nursing that hand? I think not! :thumbup
  5. Cantu for me. He's been red hot. Hit a HR to pull us within one and totally broke open the 10th. But yeah, Double A, that's a close second. Very close.
  6. It feels like every year we go and get bullpen help. But to speculate about it now, when we are only a month into the season is a bit foolish for Stark to write about. He basically put up every good to great BP name in teams that seem not to be contending...in April. Who knows where those teams (and arms) will be in 3 months?
  7. it really made me happy at the end of bottom 8 to watch Amezaga and Bonifacio skipping off the field after EB made that nice play with the shift on. looked like our team has some spunk. these two wins gainst the mets are really priceless. great to get back to winning ways and there's no one I like beating more. When I went to the Nats games on the 19th, in the 9th inning, Boni made a sliding (on his butt) grab of a ground ball and threw out the runner. Amezenga, who had replaced Hermida in left field, was joking to Boni about it, pointing to his pants, as he trotted back out to his position in left. They both were smiling. They seem like good buddies. That or Fredo's personality is infectious!
  8. Almost had to pull this out: Hey, we had the lead coming out of the first inning! Nice. Seems like a lot of guys are running on us. Bad. Nice come from behind victory though. Starting to get that monkey off our back. Nice quality start by JJ. Cantu continues to be a juggernaut and even Boni and Maybin had some hits. Voted for Ross though, as he was the deciding factor.
  9. I know Gunderson (nickname: Gundel?) is in Single A, so things can change, but what type of pitcher is he? Starter, reliever?
  10. From time to time on Live! With Regis and Kelly, Regis Philbin talks up the Florida Marlins. On May 4, Philbin will toss out the ceremonial first pitch at Dolphin Stadium before Florida's game with the Reds and join FOX Sports Florida announcers Rich Waltz and Tommy Hutton in the TV booth during the 2nd inning to offer his thoughts on the team this season. A year ago, Philbin jumped on the Marlins bandwagon early, saying they would be a team to watch. Florida responded with an 84-77 season, and a third place finish. --- FS Florida Press Release ::In Regis Voice:: I can't believe it! It's great that a national voice is a fan of ours. Slowly enter the public consciousness.
  11. Kensing has been traded to the Nats for right hander Kyle Gunderson (saw it on another site) From Juan Rodriquez Twitter: JCRMarlinsbeat Florida Marlins trade Logan Kensing to Nationals for minor league RHP Kyle Gunderson, who has been assigned to Class A Jupiter.
  12. I don't feel sorry for him. It's baseball. Though having him as insurance for Miller isn't a bad idea, in hindsight.
  13. Through 20 games: 2009 = 12-8 2008 = 12-8 2007 = 9-11 2006 = 6-14 2005 = 12-8 Seems like 12-8 is a popular start for our team. I am happy with our record, just not the nature of how we have achieved it, too much inconsistency. One of the keys I think is improving our 1st inning performances. Trailing by a couple of runs after the 1st puts a lot of pressure on the team to rebound, so it would be nice to be leading early on for a change. That's what has me worried, inconsistancy and first inning troubles. Hopefully both are corrected soon.
  14. It may be that Ricky is just a slow starter. Which is worrying on its own. But if he improves, great for us for the rest this year.
  15. College to graduate school at UMd, I have read a little about Heyward-Bey in the school newspaper. I believe he had one big game this year and then disappeared. I was surprised he got picked so high. He will probably be a bust (for that pick), but be an average receiver. I believe he has talent, but not game changing talent. Then again, Bey's college numbers don't tell the whole story, at least this past year, as the Maryland QB (Chris Turner) wasn't that great of a passer, to my recollection.
  16. Things aren't really going that well for him this year. I wish him well, but not too well :thumbup
  17. By virtue of talking about it, the jinx is over.
  18. Random, sorta related tangent: in my MLB2k8 season, Cantu is the hitting streak record holder with a hit in about 60 straight games.
  19. Break out the shaving cream and the Mach 3.
  20. Yeah, I think Hanley had been playing better of late. Unfortunately, his rise was parallel to our BP mini-implosion, so it may have gotten lost.
  21. Also, big props to the bullpen for coming together tonight. Badenhop should be considered to be our 5th starter for now. Was thinking that myself. We shall see how well Graham does next time, but I would let Hopper get one start in before returning Miller full time, if Taylor is so-so.
  22. And suddenly, all is right with the world. Still worried about Ricky. I don't know why most of our pitchers are having rough first innings lately, maybe not loosening up correctly? At least he didn't allow it to get out of hand. And who would have guest that Cantu would our offensive juggernaut so far? We really missed him in Pitt.
  23. Didn't Ricky break up Maholm's no-no last week? I wouldn't be so quick to say he is an easy out
  24. Here's tonight lineup speaking of lineups: Bonifacio 3B Maybin CF Baker C Cantu 1B Hermida LF Uggla 2B Ross RF Amezaga SS Nolasco P. terrible..Why put your worst two hitters at the begining of the line-up? Get them out of the way quickly? :shifty
