5/1 Post Game

It's a loss.

A little tougher to handle, considering we did well against Harden.

Whatever. Get them tomorrow. 3-2 on the tough road trip so far.

not surprising with our bullpen cant expect them to pitch like they have the last 3 wins

Bravo. Guys that have thrown 14 combined relief innings are bound to have days like this.

that wasnt really the bullpen that was more like burke badenhop who is just another one of the sh*tty players we got in the trade.......why he is up over carlos martinez is amazing.

I'm so sick and tired of our pitchers giving up grand slams. :banghead

Another game we should have won but didn't. I love our pen!

If you told me before the game that the Cubs would win, I would be ok with it because it was Graham Taylor against Rich Harden, but since Taylor had a solid outing (compared to last time) and we got to Rich Harden, this loss kinda stings. Oh well.

Yes.

B/c Carlos Martinez is absolutely great.

And every team, but the Florida Marlins has 7 perfect pitchers coming out of their pen.

Please. I love how you guys complain over the games that "got away," yet fail to mention we also have 7 come from behind wins (2nd most in baseball).

The bullpen has also had their fair share of good nights.

The Cubs won a game that coming in, they were supposed to win.

It's baseball. Give me 14 wins every 23 times out, and we'll be fine.

Am I missing something?

The Marlins next marketing campaign "Grand Slam Fridays!". Shame its always the other team tho...

Taylor did average - never looked in control but 2 runs in 5 innings at Wrigley is good enough.

Hopefully we just slip .5 game today...I live 90 minutes west of Philly and it is POURING here... wonder if Mutts and the Phills will even play tonight

Well I did start one, but it got deleted.

Even so, I don't see your point.

I have less an issue about them giving up the HR as walking guys onto bases. There's also all the guys we stranded on base as well.

But I think my biggest problem was with Fredi leaving Badenhop out there to pitch the 7th inning AFTER giving up the GS in the 6th. If we hadn't given up 2 more in the 7th the game would've been tied after the top of the 9th. In all fairness to Fredi though, Badenhop wasn't the guy he wanted out there in the first place, we just got unlucky with Penn.

Taylor threw 88 pitches - I wonder if we could've tried him for at least a couple outs more.

The defense was good tonight though. I hope Hanley was taking notes while he was watching.

My point is our winning % is much better the day after you begin postgame threads.

Superstitions FTW!

Btw, on the bright side...the Marlins should have, at least, 3 of the top 5 web gems today.

That run in the 9th was given to us because they had a 3 run lead so they went for the easy out at first w/o taking a chance with play at the plate, so we still might would of lost w/o those extra 2 runs

What is your point? It might not have been a sure thing, but I'm gonna say that I think giving up more runs to extend their lead makes a difference. If Marmol and Gregg had to pitch with the pressure of only a one run lead, it might have also made a difference. But either way, leaving Badenhop out there was a mistake IMHO, regardless.

my point was that you said it would have been tied in the 9 if they didnt get those 2 runs, all i am saying is that is not the case 4sure
