Posted April 29, 200916 yr Marlins defeat the Mets 4-3. Johnson: 6 IP, 9 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 3 SO Save: Lindstrom 2B: Hermida (2), Bonifacio (2) 3B: Maybin (1) HR: Cantu (6)
April 29, 200916 yr Cantu. He is playing hurt, hit a home run, and saved at least 4 runs with his glove. No contest.
April 29, 200916 yr That was the SMALLEST STRIKEZONE EVER in the 9th. Everyone, go look at it in gameday. That was craziness. But he did it. Also....
April 29, 200916 yr I cant take this crap anymore in the ninth. Hes got to get some control. but never the less he got the job done. 2 of the three from the mets again haha. You know th mets fans are flipping out. Lindstrom seemed pissed about his performance during his interveiw with craig after the game.
April 29, 200916 yr Cantu probably. I love early runs against aces like Santana, gives the offense some confidence and JJ a little breathing room. Drew 2 walks also. Pretty much a team win today. Would've been nice to get a win for JJ after he pitched so well last time out. Still he kept the team in the game on a night when he didn't have his best stuff, that's all you can ask for.
April 29, 200916 yr Almost had to pull this out: Hey, we had the lead coming out of the first inning! Nice. Seems like a lot of guys are running on us. Bad. Nice come from behind victory though. Starting to get that monkey off our back. Nice quality start by JJ. Cantu continues to be a juggernaut and even Boni and Maybin had some hits. Voted for Ross though, as he was the deciding factor.

April 29, 200916 yr cantu saved the game and it was a good test for lindstrom......if they get hits its one thing but the walks need to stop he wont always get that lucky.
April 29, 200916 yr I voted Cody for driving in the equalising and go ahead runs. I wasn't able to watch the game and the general consensus was that JJ wasn't at his best, so it is encouraging that he was still able to give Santana a good challenge. From what I saw on Gameday loads of Lindstrom's pitches that were judged balls actually caught some part of the strikezone. 2 in a row and off to Wrigley. Hanley is due back tomorrow aswell!

April 29, 200916 yr we luck we got last out because their have runner to tie game or win it It's about time we started getting some luck. Losing streaks are absent in luck.
April 29, 200916 yr it really made me happy at the end of bottom 8 to watch Amezaga and Bonifacio skipping off the field after EB made that nice play with the shift on. looked like our team has some spunk. these two wins gainst the mets are really priceless. great to get back to winning ways and there's no one I like beating more.
April 29, 200916 yr All I've gotta say is that I'm gonna need some serious blood pressure medication if this is how it's going to be all year. Phew. Big win. Lindy froze D-Wright like a little girl and the Mets reached for the mountains and pulled out some busch, what's new? How you like dem apples, Citi Field? We are 13-5 against division opponents and I am loving that the most out of any statistic right now. Not enough can be said about Jorge Cantu. He really is just a great ballplayer and he is tough. I really hope we keep him for a while. Also, we were able to beat Santa + Putz with no Hanley and no Uggs. :cool
April 29, 200916 yr Exciting game. Great win to take 2/3 from the Mets this series and 4/6 to start the season. Also nice to be 2-0 against Johan Santana. Mwahahahahahaha. Cantu has to be Fish of the Game. Not only did he have a key home run, but he also drew a walk which led to him scoring the tying run, and he saved numerous runs with his outstanding defense at first base. Oh, and all of this despite a lingering injury.

When I went to the Nats games on the 19th, in the 9th inning, Boni made a sliding (on his butt) grab of a ground ball and threw out the runner. Amezenga, who had replaced Hermida in left field, was joking to Boni about it, pointing to his pants, as he trotted back out to his position in left. They both were smiling. They seem like good buddies. That or Fredo's personality is infectious!

That was a terrific play. Bailed out Leo Nunez. That play will send a cold chill up Chris Coghlan's spine. If EB can ever OBP .340, he may snatch that job right away from CC. Just a note: Coghlan is .289/.387/.442/.829 (301 PAs) against LHP in his minor-league career. He may end up being to EB what Paulino is to Baker. Those two might be capable of very nice production out of 2B. If this IF ever lines up left-to-right as Dominguez/Hanley/EB/Gaby, that would be an superb defensive infield, especially if Hanley can ever improve. Of course by the time DoMing is here, who knows where Hanley will be (in the field or with which organization). Still, I'm sure Volstad would love to see those guys scooping ground balls for him.
