Who from the Fish Will Make the All Star Game?

Featured Replies

Here is my projection/prediction:

1) Brad Penny

2) Mike Lowell

3) Miguel Cabrera (home run Derby?)

4) Armando Benitez

5) Oliver (Pitching at the Home Run Derby) j/k

Looong Shot:

6) Choi Vs (Pujols, Helton, Bagwell, Thome) - Too many quality playeres in this category. Very unlikely, must knock a lot of runs and hit a lot of HR

7) Pierre - may be selected by Jack, but too many power hitters to choose from

8) Beckett - Must continue to lower his ERA and win ball games

penny, lowell, cabrera, benitez, pavano

josh needs to kepp his ERA down and win a few more to go

yeah choi is a longshot. if the game was in an AL park (DH) id feel differently, but in an NL park its slim and none

pierre needs to keep his average up to make it amongst the great OF in the NL

Mike Lowell will make it.

Miguel Cabrera will make it.

Beckett will make it.

People say MAYBE Pierre but I don't see why he shouldn't make it. The best lead-off man in all of baseball. You could say it's Ichiro or someone else, but no one creates havoc like Pierre. He makes pitchers sweat, changes the defense, puts pressure on the defense, everything. And oh yeah, he's got a .362 Batting Average and can steal bases like nothing.

I can see 4 there, 5 is a long shot. But 6?

We shall see. Why not? The Braves and Yankees have taken more than that in the past.

-Lowell

-Castillo

-Benitez

-Penny

-Pierre

-Beckett

That looks like a pretty good list. I would like to see Cabs....but there is likely too much OF competition.

Dontrelle would have a chance if he gets on another tear.

-Lowell

-Castillo

-Benitez

-Penny

-Pierre

-Beckett

Dontrelle would have a chance if he gets on another tear. Cabs SHOULD make it. If he doesn't there's no doubt in my mind he'll make it next year and years after that.

Miguel Cabrera and Benitez.

Possibly Penny.

No Lowell?

2nd best 3rd Baseman in the NL. He should be the back-up.

-Lowell

-Castillo

-Benitez

-Penny

-Beckett

Dontrelle would have a chance if he gets on another tear. Dontrelle should be DH, if it was in an AL park.

My prediction:

Lowell-Best Third Basemen in National League with Rolen

Castillo-Best Second Basemen (You can make a case for Giles as well)

Cabrera-Beast, no explanation needed

Benitez-We will be seeing Benitez with the likes of Smoltz, Wagner, and Gagne

Penny-Finally living up to his potential, already looks like an early contender for Cy Young even

Bit of a longshot-

Beckett-Popularity contest and because he has pitched very well with no run support

Willis-Above except he has some wildness at times

Pierre-Too much talent in center field for him to overcome (reserve possibly)

My predicition for Starting NL Team:

C: Paul Lo Duca

1: Jim Thome

2: Luis Castillo/Marcus Giles

3: Mike Lowell

SS: Edgar Renteria

LF: Bonds

CF: Jim Edmonds (Barring injury)

RF: Miguel Cabrera (There I said it)

SP: Roger Clemens (Don't hate me for that but he has absolutely dominated beyond fathoming, maybe first pitcher to win 25 games in forever)

Locks:

-Lowell

-Pierre

-Penny

-Castillo

Maybes:

-Beckett (if Penny slips, both aren't going)

-Cabrera (the minimum being the home run derby, which would be cool)

-Benitez (depending on how many saves he has and what positions the required players are playing)

Long Shots:

-Choi (maybe he is in the Derby too)

-Pavano (he's going to have to be masterful)

-Dontrelle (he's is going to have to be consistent for once)

And Oliver would be throwing to either Cabrera or Choi in the Derby

Will:

Lowell

Pierre

Cabrera

Penny

Beckett

Benitez

Could:

Choi

Castillo (he'll be in the 'Will' category soon enough)

Willis

Benitez, Lowell, Cabs, and Josh Beckett

others receiving votes: Juan Pierre and Brad Penny

I like Castillo, but NO WAY IN HELL he should be on the All Star team this year!

Giles (ATL), M. Loretta (SD), T. Walker (Cubs), J. Kent (HOU), and Spivery (MIL) all have over 90 ABs and are hitting almost 50 points higher than Castillo this year. Castillo being on the All Star team this year is just a tad above putting Gonzo in the All Star game.

I can see 4 there, 5 is a long shot. But 6?

Joe Torre pulls that crap all the time. they were the best team in baseball last year, and they are leading the NL East this year - who has more of a claim to be All-Stars than that?

Two wrongs don't make a right
