Craig
Look, a lot is being said about the Marlins right now, and I want to say some things about this team based on what I, a fan of another team, have seen. 1. The doom and gloom on this website is absoloutely ludicrous. Are the Marlins playing well? No. Are the Marlins in first place? Yes. So we have to balance the good and bad here, I think it should be considered a good thing that the Marlins can be struggling as badly as we all think, and still be in 1st place. 2. I believe things will work itself out in the Marlins lineup. I still love Pierre and Castillo at the top, the fish still have 2 legitimate power threats in Miggy Cabs and Mikey, and the Marlins lineup will be fine. The fact is, this is a good lineup, not a great one, but this lineup is good enough to win some games, especially with this teams rotation. 3. The one hole I see being a season long one is the bullpen. Now I believe Burnett will be a HUGE boost once he comes back to the pen, and Armando is still good, but after that, then what? Fox is a question mark, and the rest of the pen is mostly 1 inning/specialist type guys. Come trade deadline, I would have to think Beinfest will try and deal for some arms. 4. The catcher situation isn't very good right now, but I think that kid you guys have in the minors Willingham will end up being a very good player, so be patient there. Red is a backup, that's all he has been, and all he will ever be, and Ramon Castro, well he brings good power to the plate, but gets a meh out of me as a catcher. 5. The #5 starter situation is a problem, but that could be said for at least 2/3 of major league teams, so I don't consider that a prime concern. 6. Remember folks, as much as this team is struggling right now, it is nothing compared to April and almost all of May last season, when they needed a big winning streak just to get back to .500. 7. Finally, Jack McKeon. He has gotten heat from a lot of people around here these days, and i'm not sure why. Didn't he prove he knew what he was doing last year when he took over a team way below .500 and took them to the promised land? I would hope some of you would lay off him. Ok folks, that's all I've got. Thanks for reading my rambling post, and as always, feel free to rip everything I've just said.
fauowls44
I agree with most everything that you say, except about Burnett being a huge boost to the pen. When he gets back, he takes his spot in the rotation. Oliver goes to the pen for long relief.

Admin
Well said. I agree 100%. People throw it into my face when I am optimistic. They say that the season is over unless immediate changes are made. Right. Come back in October and we'll see if it's over. We'll be in the race (maybe not at the time *GASP* in first) come the Trade Deadline and we'll get those pieces we need and we will make a run in September again. Some of you need to stop crying. Ramp
nice job Maggs, but the one thing you are wrong about is AJ being a boost in the pen he will be a starter oh and also, I think Jack is overmanading a bit this year..... but Id still take him as my manager :thumbup
minus
All I have to say is: A) Season is not over!(If you think it's over than you don't have a clue) B) We don't really miss D.Lee! C) Is ok to be concern but doesn't mean panic. D) We do miss Pudge! E) Perfect time to allow Nunez to get few starts. F) A.J will be a starter! Craig
nice job Maggs, but the one thing you are wrong about is AJ being a boost in the pen he will be a starter Hmm alright then..... The more I watch this team though, the more I think he would be a better asset to the bullpen than the rotation at this point.

The more I watch this team though, the more I think he would be a better asset to the bullpen than the rotation at this point. of course he would be, but so would any of our other starters(not counting DO) I see no point in any of the 5 going to the pen, they are too good.... well maybe down the line DW will go to the pen, but not now
Craig
I see no point in any of the 5 going to the pen, they are too good.... Well to be honest, neither do I, BUT......... If the bullpen doesn't show improvement, I think it may almost become a necessary evil to put one of the 5 in the pen so there is somebody you can trust out of the pen other than Mando and maybe Fox (if healthy, a BIG if) late in the game. Guest Moneyball
yesterday jim manbitch on wqba was complaining how much the marlins miss looper and the rest of those who left. he obviously is a bandwagoner because looper was always good in the eary months, wait ti l august and sept come around. Well the Marlins could really use Looper right now, but at the time, non tendering him was the right move, especially considering how much he ended up getting from the Mutts. tigersfan1
A very good post. It's too early in the season to panic. Every team goes through some stretches where they struggle. It's unavoidable over the course of a 162 game season. The Marlins are still a very good team, and whatever is needed can be acquired at the trade deadline to make another run at a Title, just as your FO did last year. CapeFish
This front office would rather see the team bump along now than in September. Be patient.

bman8316
I agree with basically everything you say. I think that when A.J. comes back it will be like when Dontrelle was called up last year and brought some energy to the team. As for everything else I'm not really worried, we arent swinging the bats but are still winning some games so I cant wait until the bats come alive again.
