June 5, 200422 yr Exactly 1 month ago today SeaBass was at .189 with his AVG. now he is up to .234 and looking better at the plate. Great to see that!!! go SeaBass!
June 5, 200422 yr Alex has had 6 multi hit games in the last 14 played, batting .285 over that period! He last hit below .200 on May 20.
June 5, 200422 yr I was very impressed with the way he went oppisite field with the last hit. He needs to do that more often, and shows you he is feeling better at teh plate. Good Job overall
June 5, 200422 yr damn.... all i wanted was .240 me too...happy to see him getting those important hits today.
June 5, 200422 yr its great that his average is going up, but he's still a horrendous liability at the plate. dont make too much out of a deceptive statistic in this case (his .234 average). his .251 on base percentage is dead last in all of baseball out of all qualifiers on espn.com. thats #179 out of 179.
June 5, 200422 yr sorry to ruin the moment but he is going down soon. i feel it. happy to see him hit the ball though.
June 5, 200422 yr Yay for Alex! I hope he could keep it up... but I know we'll always have his GG defense!
June 5, 200422 yr Hey, ya gotta hand it to him- he kept working and working, and it's paying off. He could've easily just quit trying (like one of his teammates may have).

June 6, 200422 yr He still can't swing the bat. In his at bat in the first inning, he struck out on an awful pitch that was so high, the catcher had to stand up to keep it from going over his head. Also, a few innings later, he couldn't come up with a ball that loaded the bases.
June 6, 200422 yr Sea Bass has been reaping the ball since about 2 or 3 weeks ago. Im glad that his AVG. is creeping up little by little.

I FREAKIN HATE CATS/KITTENS THEY SHOULD ALL DIE! sea bass is an ok hitter with a GG glove and GG arm. ok. period.
June 6, 200422 yr I say give him about one more month and he will be batting at his career average of .250.

June 6, 200422 yr His best avg is his .992 fielding average and that more than anything dicatates why he's on the field. He's shown himself to be an average hitter---.250 lifetime with some flashes of brillance that seem to overshadow his deficits as a hitter. This year especially he's gotten it done in the field which where he needs to be. I say he's a hot streak away from .250 again!!!!
June 6, 200422 yr I think sometimes he puts too much pressure on himself when he's hitting 8th. He always tries to get a hit knowing the pitcher is coming up next. Since being placed 7th, he's hit a lot better knowing that there is hitter after him. Being placed 2nd could work if he stays patient. Guys will go right after him because they don't want guys on base for Lowell and Cabs. If they go right after him, we hope for a hit. If they continue to throw balls and he swings and misses, they'll throw balls. All he needs is patience.
June 6, 200422 yr I agree that Gonzo hits better when not in the 8th spot. 7th is probably the best spot for him.
