Posted June 26, 200420 yr This is absolutely pathetic, forget the bullpen, this team needs a bat NOW.
June 26, 200420 yr We need a LF'er who can hit a fastball. Conine gets 3 fast balls right over the middle of the plate in the 8th, and couldn't catch up to any of them. :thumbdown ...............and they were only of the 92-94 variety.
June 26, 200420 yr this is so f***ing fustrating just when you think they got out of the hole they get back in it. people should start losing jobs....sadly.
June 26, 200420 yr Offense, bullpen, whatever, this team needs to start winning more games..period...Marlins should be taking advantage of the Phillies not playing well...This team is not hungry for the division...Tonight's performance by Brazleton aside, Marlins are not capatilizing on other teams beating up the Phillies
June 26, 200420 yr i don't care if they lose stokes or willingham it's not the rebuilding era we need to win.
June 26, 200420 yr Can we also Stop with Harris getting on to the baseball field. THE GUY IS DONE! HE HAS NOTHING LEFT
June 26, 200420 yr Reading Kruk's column today on ESPN (something I rarely do) I noticed something interesting, his concept of "killer instinct." Pudge has it, Jeter has it, Bonds, Schilling, Rivera, they all have it, but no one on this team has it. Sure we hate losing, but I've never seen anyone on this team give a s***. Cabrera'll strike out and he'll walk back to the dugout with a stupid smile...Lowell'll fly out to the first baseman and simply shake his head. Attitudes like that are contagious. Look at tonight, we simply didn't care after they scored the two runs. We got beaten by an inferior team, and I don't care about what you say about record the only people on that team that would start for us are Crawford and Huff...and none of their starters would be in our rotation. I wish we got no hit only because once you hit rock bottom you have to do something drastic. Beinfest has got to be on his cellphone trying to pry Finley away from the D'Backs...
June 26, 200420 yr Can was also Stop with Harris getting on to the baseball field. THE GUY IS DONE! HE HAS NOTHING LEFT agreed. He should be released, I don't care how good he is for team chemistry, the man doesn't have it anymore.
June 26, 200420 yr Can was also Stop with Harris getting on to the baseball field. THE GUY IS DONE! HE HAS NOTHING LEFT Lenny Harris .229 BA .111 RISP .000 Close and Late He's ready for the pasture.

I was thinking about after we lost last night. If we get down, it feels like we already lose. We don't have a loud, pissed off emotional leader on our team. Pudge was that. McKeon never argues and neither does anyone on our team. They strike out, toss the bat, and just walk back to the dugout like nothing happened. The only guy that even get's pissed is Alex Gonzalez. We need an emotional leader. Pudge was that last year and that's something we're missing.
June 26, 200420 yr The entire outfield sucks. Pierre can't push a hit past anyone and is unwilling to run. Conine has not performed at all with runners in scoring position. Cabrera is the one I'm most pissed off with. His RISP numbers are nearly as low as Conine's. Aside from one 4/4 game each week he's completly useless in the field and at the plate. Striking out or grounding into double plays all the time. Hell, if we needed that we could play WTFNUNEZ.

June 26, 200420 yr Very pissed so here it comes. 1) Conine can not hit. Play Nunez until we get a real LF, at least he has some potential 2) Lenny Harris is a good guy and all, maybe give him a front office job, but get him off the field 3) Bill Robinson needs to teach Choi how to hit a changeup. Period. He whiffs on way too many changeups. 4) I will disagree with anyone who tells me Pierre is a good bunter UNTIL I see him bunt one that ISNT RIGHT BACK TO THE PITCHER This offense is horrible. Nearly no hit by a guy who CLEARLY did not have his best stuff. The guy has a terrible breaking ball tonight, and hardly any control of it.
June 26, 200420 yr The team is playing like crap... collective slump. We know they can hit. They know they can hit. Things will turn around.. They won't settle for it
June 26, 200420 yr well i know i will be called things but, the offense has been under achieveing for most of the year when we know it is a lot better. so i say we get a bat and fire bill robinson.
June 26, 200420 yr so much anger here. to single out one player is stupid. nobody on this team is hitting consistently. and the bench is garbage. mordi sucks and should be retired. harris sucks and should be retired, save for that one week stretch a few weeks ago. easley is a journeyman these days. nunez is utter garbage. treanor is your backup catcher. utter garbage.
June 26, 200420 yr Can was also Stop with Harris getting on to the baseball field. THE GUY IS DONE! HE HAS NOTHING LEFT And while we're at it... Easley hasn't had anything the past month.
June 26, 200420 yr Reading Kruk's column today on ESPN (something I rarely do) I noticed something interesting, his concept of "killer instinct."? Conine's done a lot of bat and helmet throwing this year. :confused Bat throwing isn't what I'm talking about, that's just stewing. Pudge got in people's faces. If the pitcher didn't make his pitch or shook him off, the ball came back to the mound faster than it came in. That's killer instinct. Look at Jeter, even when he's on the bench he rarely sits, hangs on the fence and gets in teammates faces when they hang their head. Same with Schilling, when a closer blows his save, he lets him have it. No one on our team is like that. If I were AJ, I'd lace into each and every player, let them have it...

June 26, 200420 yr Can was also Stop with Harris getting on to the baseball field. THE GUY IS DONE! HE HAS NOTHING LEFT And while we're at it... Easley hasn't had anything the past month. and McKeon keeps playing him at 1st for some odd reason. Easley can't play 1st base. I would like to see Choi bat against some lefties for a change. He can't do much worse than Easley.
June 26, 200420 yr this is what happens when you fail to upgrade yoru bench in the offseason and teh one good acquisition you make gets hurt.

Nice post and all, but have you ever seen Kruk on BBT? The guy is an idiot. Fine, then forget Kruk said anything, here's my modified thesis: We have no true "leader" to put us over this hump. It's Lowell/Conine as far as team leader goes, and while both of them seem to throw bats and helmets, they're too soft-spoken to get in people's faces. Look, if you were told that Pudge was angry and he was looking for you or that Conine was angry and looking for you, I'd run to Conine. That's the thing none of these guys have the fire. Kruk may be an idiot, but he's right...
