Start Darren Oliver

Featured Replies

start darren oliver.

i assume you mean if Beckett's still injured when his turn comes up in the rotation again...

sure why not. Tejera had a shot, they could always give Wayne another go I guess too...

point is Beckett needs to get healthy & soon.

Then again Bckett and Wayne have done well in the majors.

Tejera wasn't even doing well in AAA when he was called up.

6-1, with an ERA of 3.58 sure stinks in a hitter's league... :whistle

The K/BB ratio wasn't fantastic, but he appeared to pitch around that.

Wayne, while he was 3-2, had an ERA of 5.53 with the Marlins. And of course, the numbers would almost definitely be different if he started, and I mean that either way.

if you need someone to step into the rotation for beckett, penny, burnett, willis or pavano....

start darren oliver.

All you Oliver haters got what you wanted. Tejera started and didnt fare well - against the D Rays. Oliver is a viable option but wont be given a chance because of our bullpen situation. But you cant have it both ways.

you cant have it both ways.

Sure you can.

Wayne, Bump, Phelps. Of those, Bump is the best to start. In my opinion, of course.

As long as we are pulling starters from the bullpen, I don't think Oliver should be overlooked. We're spinning our wheels until Beckett's better anyway.

Remember, Wayne and Bump always were starters before going to the BP.

Hey I see Tejera walked 4 batters in one inning last night....did Jack go out and comb his ass? Just wondering!

Hey, ChiSox fan here. I would suggest starting Darren Oliver. He was lights out when the sox played florida in Miami. Anyone against me should please reply. :banghead

since we are all managers here, ill put my input.

i say we start juan pierre. the man has a gun for an arm and boy can he pick off runners...

i figured id give a ridiculous suggestion.

i say we start darren again. why not? he can't do worse than tejera, i mean they pulled tejera out, what 5 inning? giving up 4 runs. he had 3 quality starts for the marlins, too bad the other starts were horrible. i say give him another shot.

Give Tejera one more start and see how he does

Why?

Give Tejera one more start and see how he does

Why? why not?

Oliver sucked as a starter too and atleast Tejera has been decent in the past

Because he can get lefties out so well

:plain

DO is only good for 3 innings. so unless u wanna tire out the BP sure why not go for it..............DO NOT START DARREN OLIVER

Tejera wasn't even doing well in AAA when he was called up.

actually if you compare his stats with all the others in the league, of the guys who had spent the majority of the time in the PCL, he was on of the top 5 pitchers in the league. He also had the best record in the league, which I know doesn't mean much but it's still impressive.

He was also leading 'Topes pitchers in home runs allowed and had awful command (see his K/BB ratio and performance Saturday).

How that's worthy of promotion I don't know. The guy needs to quit his b*tching and earn a role in the majors.

For what its worth...OLIVER can kiss my @$$... Granted if Oliver played for the PHILLIES i'd say start him....so we Marlin fans can enjoy a free loss for the Phils.

Why not give Ben Howard a shot?

I say start Darren Oliver!

He did so bad yesterday because they coach probably told him to make them hit the ball! Usually managers say that when you have big leads!

Could you tell after the run scoring double he did good!!

Oliver was a good pitcher before he was a Marlin! Sometimes it takes awhile to get in a groove :)

IMO i say we start Tejera 1 more time...if he stinks it up then send him down or to the pen...then id consider starting Ben Howard wasnt he a starter in the minors...

I dont think Tejera pitched all that badly....he had 4 walks (i think...this is going on memory) but all were in the 1st 2 innings. All 4 runs were given up with 2 outs in the 2nd. Other than that, he pitched fine...I say at least give him another chance...he didn't pitch poor enough to be run out of town.

agree...
